“The teachers and director provide a warm, welcoming and calm presence for the children. I am on campus most every day (background checked and up to date vaccinations). I get to observe first hand the care with which all staff treat the children and the encouraging ways they guide them in learning. The facility is well maintained and safe.”

“The Memories!!! Man! Went here from 02-04. Miss Hood and Miss Sanchez were my teachers. I'll never forget how great this school treated my family when we stayed in a garage at my Aunts house (R.I.P) down the street. Sometimes it was even difficult trying to make it to school from Compton all the way to Pomona before moving in with my Aunt. Glad she took us in so we were able to continue our schooling close to the school. We no longer had to worry about those long bus rides and having to wake up at 4am to try and make it to school on time. Those bus connections were painful seriously. I'll never forget the after school program I was apart of thanks to Miss Sanchez and Mr. Martinez. I think Miss Hood had something to do with it as well. Went a lot of places because of them. I attended my first ever Dodgers game with them and my brother. This school was just a blessing to my family. They even helped us out on Christmas with a lot of toys and more. I was a little emotional writing all that but it's great memories that will always be with me.(Just talking now*)Forgot the name of that little burger place by Gary High School but that place had some really good burgers. We used to go over there after school a lot and the football coach would give me and my brothers some money to get some burgers. After that we would go to Martin Luther King Park and just mess around. Good times! At Lexington the events were always on point, dodge ball was like the number one sport and there was always this one kid forgot his name that was such a beast at dodge ball. Had my first crush here too in Miss Sanchez class. She sat right next to me haha. Oh and Mrrrrr... forgot his name but if you still have the Feliz Navidad Christmas Video from 03 I'd love to see it. Your class room was just a couple doors down from Miss Sanchez.I wonder what everyone is up to now. I'd love for the people that attended Lexington during that time to see this and respond.Great Times!!”

“My sons name is avani and he has been going to the infant center for a month now. It took us a few tries before we found a school that we really liked. From first impressions it was really easy to trust them, the children were calm and happy. My son loves his teacher mrs. Martha and sings her name on days he misses school. My son is very verbal and good at communication, since starting at this school they have only broadened his education. I love this school for my son, they have always answered every question that I have with no problems and let me know every detail of my sons day. I want my son to stay in this family environment for long term. While on the phone with a different school it sounded very chaotic and uncontrolled, this made me very scared and I started to overthink my decision with putting him in daycare. But after having a meeting with oak tree day school it was a completely positive and my nerves were at ease it was the best choice I could've made.”

“My boys went to this school all of their elementary years. They have gained so much from attending here. The staff are long standing teachers, office receptionists and principals. I'm a hard to please parent who demands a lot from a school. I'm very active with my children's education. So when there's a problem, I demand it gets tended to.My boys have had needs over the years that were met by attending Roosevelt. For example speech therapy and special needs education. I'm not biased on saying that either. My kids are first generation attendees, so it's not like I know anyone here personally.I do know that when I questioned or needed anything, it was addressed promptly. Staff from all across the board will answer you otherwise find someone who can.A great amount of families that attend are Spanish only speakers or bilingual. I have an English only speaking family. I felt kind of like the minority because everything felt like it was meant for Spanish speakers only. However, I was able to bring it up to the principal and he reassured that everything will be addressed in both languages consistently. I was not disappointed. My boys went through speech therapy and it help so much that within 3 years they no longer had speech impediments. My youngest was in kindergarten when he first started. And I couldn't understand him at all. The speech therapist worked rigorously with him throughout the years. Now you would never suspect he even had a speech problem. My other son also had a problem but didn't start therapy until 2nd grade. He also has no problems with speech as well. My youngest has underlying disabilities that make it hard to connect to other children and understand certain things. Rosevelt Elementary provided a successful learning environment that grew with him over the years via an actual plan. You have to ask for it. If there is need, meetings will be held on behalf of your child to come up with goals and alternatives to help them succeed. It takes a village to raise a child, but at the end, it's the parent's responsibility. Don't sit around shaming others, take action. If something doesn't feel right, you have options.By the way, the school has gone through major cosmetic improvements. It not only makes the campus look visibly beautiful - it's safer! Great job Roosevelt Elementary!”
