Point Arena Lighthouse is a unique place at the Pacific Coast 100 miles north of San Francisco. The first time of my life I could see a fog bow from the top of the lighthouse. This phenomena only appears in about 10 times a year.

The historic Point Arena Light Station #496 celebrates its 152nd Anniversary in 2022! Climb to the top of the tallest Lighthouse on the coast daily! Explore the 1896 Fog Signal Building housing the Light Station Store and Museum and roam our 23 acre Outdoor Museum. Surrounded by water on 3 sides and adjacent to the Point Arena/Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument, the Point Arena Lighthouse is the premier visitor destination in Mendocino County. It is also one of the best whale watching spots with annual gray whale migration from late November through May, humpbacks throughout the year, the occasional pod of transient killer whales and even blue whales. Lodging is available in the historic Keeper's cottages.
