Attitude matters.A huge aspect of running a business is the attitude you have towards people and neighbors, both existing customers and potential new ones. This shapes public opinion and is inescapably linked to how people are treated in every other aspect of a business. The ownership of Workbench on Main makes their attitude of disrespect quite clear before you even decide to park and come inside and potentially become a customer, via the extra conspicuous “Tow Away” parking signs everywhere. They *regularly* have cars towed; sometimes they also have tow trucks waiting in the lot. The laughable $15 pay-for parking sign during any kind of event downtown also helps reinforce this. Employees of nearby businesses are also treated the same way. This despite the fact that many, many people come to downtown for more than one thing and often stop at additional businesses they see while they are there.Sure, you could make the argument that they *can* do what they want (apparently they own the whole parking lot). However, they have obviously failed to consider if they *should*.This other half of business decisions is often what determines if a business stays in business - the “is it really worth it?” and “how will this affect the perception of new and existing customers?”.For my wife and I, the result of this attitude was the decision to never again shop at this business. We will spend our money at other businesses that have the common sense to address their customers with at minimum, the benefit of the doubt, if not respect. We will advise all our friends and family to do the same.

Trinidad was a super helpful employee. Helped me by cutting a new key for our home, great conversationalist. Prices were so cheap I tried to tip him for his assistance. Could not convince him to accept, very humble and I appreciate good service like his.

As a regular customer to downtown Pleasanton, I was informed that I could not park in that big lot or I would be towed. I used to like to shop here, but no longer will be patronizing this business.

I went in to get some tape/Velcro The cashier showed me a more efficient way to attach the device and I did not have to buy anything. Cost him the sale. Really solid customer support always from this HW store.

This place is great, they have a ton of random things and all sorts of items, but the real reason is the customer service, they will talk through the project with you and go over any questions you may have. They didn't try and upsell on things I didn't really need, which is gold in my book

Might be a nice store. Two guys working there and no customers. My Wife and I came in from across the street to look around. One thing I noticed which would make me take off one star....the packages were DUSTY. This is NEW merchandise.

Excellent customer service and got in stock what I needed.First visit was for a plunger, the second time, I wanted to repair some electronics stuff so they led me to the shrink tubes but then I talked a bit more with the employee and he talked me through some logistics. We figured out the shrink tubes wouldn't work because the tubes were smaller than the USB plug so he pointed me to an alternative repair solution which was liquid electric tape.

Love a small, local hardware store! There are a True Value affiliate, but better customer service than you'll ever find at the 2 big box guys. Smaller locations mean less selection, but they are great for certain niche items. Recently needed to replace the mailbox number stickers at home, and the local Home Depot had NOTHING available in store. Workbench had multiple options available (gold, silver, slanted text and straight text). Also bought my next door neighbor new numbers... the store was out of stock for "0"s, so I got them an "O".

Lots of stock and the people generally know what they're doing. But it's right on the main street in Pleasanton so it can be busy getting in and out.
