Amazing place to volunteer! I've taken groups of middle and high school students twice now and we will keep going back as long as we can! They make everything so easy from signing up to instructions on the day of. It is a really well-run, and needed, organization and totally worth your time!

People are very nice also they keep clean very well. The food is also very supportive to the people in the place that the food is going to be imported to.

Putting aside what surely is a worthy cause and mission, the fact that my 15 year old wanted to add substance to his Sunday rather than play video games and "volunteered" to pack meals here in Pleasanton...and had to pay $20 for the privilege is ridiculous. He's not even old enough for it to count towards high school community hours. Literally he just wanted to do something charitable with his day and it cost $20 to volunteer. Ridiculous and shameful. Charge the adults who can at least take the write off. But charging teens to volunteer is next level stupid. From their website: "For most volunteers, it is the ultimate hands-on contribution that, because of its simplicity, individuals from age 8 to 80 can perform. Volunteers from all walks of life and society: schools, churches, civic, scouting troops, neighborhood kids and families package the food for distribution to starving people all over the world." And this ultimate hands on experience can be yours for $20.

Came here for a work volunteer event. We had about 25 people. With another company joining, we had 32 folks. After putting on the hairnet and apron, we were shown a quick intro video. Pretty amazing stuff they're doing with shipping meals internationally to hungry kids around the world. We even had a sample of the cooked meals. It was surprisingly not bad. They said that a bag of packed meal could last up to 20 years. A bag could feed 6 children. They have the assembly line figured out pretty well. Two people (one on each side) holding plastic bags. 1 person filling soy protein. 1 filling dried veggies. 1 measuring and filling vitamin mix. 1 filling rice. 2 people on weighing and adjusting to make sure within weight limits. 2 people to seal the plastic bags. We had 1.5 hours. Since sanitation was a priority, we could not touch anything else (including our phones) during the assembly. We cranked out 5,616 bags of dry meals. It was quite intense during the 1.5 hours as we tried to focus on the tasks. It was fun and definitely working for a good cause. I would totally come back!

Kids Against Hunger is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meals for children all over the world. Meals are packed during major disasters such as the Haiti earthquake and more recently, Hurricane Dorian which hit the Bahamas. Our Company had about 20 volunteers come here to help package dried food. It was great to help out a worthy cause and the event was also great for team building. We worked in close quarters in their warehouse, with 6-8 people per station. Two baggers, four food scoopers (soy protein, dehydrated veggies, vitamin powder, and rice), and two more for sealing the bags and weighing. Each bag had to be within 1% of a total mass target. They actually gave us some sample of the cooked product and its pretty good! Like a rice pilaf they might serve on airplanes, only vegan and high in proteins, fiber, and vitamins. A single bag feeds 6 kids. After 90 minutes, a total of 30 volunteers managed to pack 5616 bags, enough for 33,000 meals. You can also purchase some of these meal bags for $2 each. They may great emergency food for earthquakes, camping, or other emergencies. All you need is access to boiling water. Definitely recommend coming here as a team-building event or as individual volunteers. Kudos to General Mills for supplying all the food!

This was an awesome experience. The woman that helped us was amazing. She explained everything clearly and what was expected in packing these awesome bags to feed people. I cannot believe one of these goodness bag feeds 6! I loved the idea and being able to be apart of it was amazing.
