The review is in reference to the real estate loan department. Working with Mejgan Koenig has been a pleasure! She made the process of applying for a HELOC relatively easy and always kept us updated on the status. She was patient and kind, and I highly recommend her for any real estate loan needs!

This review is in reference to their auto loan department. On my October statement, it showed my payment date has been moved up to the 10th of every month. When I completed the paperwork for refinancing, I established the payment date to be the 15th of every month.I did not receive any written or electronic notification that it was changed! As I recall from having owned vehicles with other financial institutions, the customer is the one who dictates if a payment date should be changed!!!! I am not pleased with this unscrupulous act because I was also assessed a late fee of $13.29 on October 23rd to squeeze more blood oh I mean money out of me and it will also appear on my credit report as a late payment, which I will dispute!! Initially, I would have made my payment on time if it was not changed without my consent and October 23rd would have been within the 10 day grace period. The person I have spoken with thus far in Pleasanton does not know why my date was changed has referred my case to another department and the loan specialist who assisted me with the refi is out of the office until end of month. This office also harasses me with phone calls requesting payment within the grace period but THEY NEVER HARASS MY WIFE who also has an auto loan with them when she makes her payment within the grace period!!! I am full- fledged Alameda County employee who is a paying union member that works in Financial Services and I believed credit unions are established to support union members but also the community...so they think they can pull the wool over my eyes without recouse! I am also inclined to complain to the NCUA, BBB and Consumer Affairs. I am currently awaiting a call back and I will probably move my children's savings account to ANOTHER FINANCIAL INSTITUTION DESPITE WHAT THEIR EXCUSE IS FOR ACTING UNSCRUPULOUS AND DEVIOUS!!!!

Been using them since I was in high school. Just got my motorcycle refinanced through them and it was a breeze and I saved a TON of money on the interest rate. Highly recommend!

This review is about the whole company in general. They closed my Checking Account with no notice or email or phone call, a few hours before I get paid from my work, so basically I'm screwed with paying my bills and buying groceries until they can fix this mess they've made, and I'm stuck with whatever money I have in my Savings which is barely any after paying my mortgage.

My experience with 1st united has been the worst experience I have ever had with a car loan. I received a refund from the dealer I purchased from and they overnighted a check to 1st united. I called the credit union as soon as I had proof of delivery and was ensured that since it was delivered it would be processed that same day by 3:30pm. At 3:30pm there was no proof of deposit. I called a few more times throughout the day and they kept ensuring me that I would see it posted before the end of the day. (I made sure they understood the need to have the refund reflected on my account) after all the reassurances, I called back again at the end of the day – and was told that my check unfortunately got put in the wrong box and did not make it with the deposits and would have to wait until the next business day. Which was Monday!! I was also told "your check arrived in the last 1.5 hours of the last day of the week" When It in fact got delivered 3.5 hours prior to that! I have proof of delivery and sent them the screenshot. The issue is how many times I was reassured though they never actually confirmed with their team and the blatant lies to try to get around actually fixing the issues. I will NEVER bank or do another loan through this credit union.I will give props to Jeanette with the customer service team who was the only person to do the due diligence of actually getting facts before promising things.However, the rest of their customer service is the worst. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Worst credit union, horrible customer service. No perks for being a member. They are worse than a bank but lacking the convenience and access of a bank.

If you want incompetent people to waste your time whenever you have a quick question about your loan, go with 1st United. They've only been my loan provider for a few months and I can't get one straight answer from their customer service. Seriously, don't bother. Go somewhere else. I'm transferring my loan as soon as possible.

I sympathize with the people that had bad experiences with the CU, But fortunately as a retiree, I received VERY good help from Nelly, who was always available When I called and very courteous, and Completely understood my very complex problems and questions pertaining to my medical premiums that are paid through the credit Union.I Moved from California to Nevada a number of months ago, then we decided to visit the kids and grandkids in the Philippines for an extended time, So I wanted to make sure that the Medical, dental, and vision premiums that are paid through 1st UCU are OK with the moving to a new state. And then to make things more complicated I will be eligible for Medicare and a few months and then there’s a lot of changes that will take place then also.We are 16 hours ahead of the West Coast time so communicating on phone is extra difficult and there is only a narrow time frame where I could speak to someone in California - Nelly Completely understood the situation with the communication limitations and was very helpfulin communicating through email and phone calls.Incredibly, she was able communicate with my medical group, to reinstate me temporarily, because they had dropped me because of moving out of state.It seems like they have made some very big improvements and now have employees like Nelly who go above and beyond at a most critical time and when I needed it the most, And is committed to helping me in March when I change again and over to Medicare.

I called this afternoon and spoke with Tess. She wanted me to give my SSN to enter into my account. I asked if there was another option she then said to give her the acct. number which I didn't have. I then said I would login as I attempted I couldn't remember the password. I then chose forgot password and she said I don't have an account. I then said I must because I have the login info written down. She then said they wiped out all previous online acct and it is required to setup a new acct. I don't understand why if you are attempting to upgrade your technology you would downgrade your customer service. In addition to the system not thinking clearly about how to keep from inconveniencing clients like myself Tess was rude and said no manager was available. I then hung up with Tess called back. After waiting for more than 10 minutes for someone to answer, the call was picked up and then hung up in my face one minute before closing ensuring that I would not be able to dial back since they would be closed! I am nearly done with my loan and I will close all accounts after my payoff and NEVER do business with 1st United again!
