Yikes. I had a couple of unfortunate experiences at this particular establishment, both of which left me feeling uneasy. The first incident occurred some time ago when I was placing an order for food. The lady taking my order made a remark about my size, gesturing towards my body while asking if I was sure about my choices. This encounter left me feeling perplexed and unsure about what had just transpired. Despite this, I decided to let it go and avoided returning to the establishment for quite some time. However, when I eventually decided to give it another chance, I encountered yet another unpleasant situation, this time at the sandwich section of the store. While waiting in line, I noticed that a bit of time had passed, so I approached the register, assuming that there may have been a change in procedures. However, I was promptly instructed to return to my place in line and wait to be helped. As I waited patiently, I observed the same lady who had directed me back assisting someone who had just arrived. After a prolonged wait, I was finally attended to. Despite my request for a simple sandwich without any modifications, I couldn't help but notice the missing ingredients and the lingering gaze of the lady preparing it. Needless to say, the entire experience left me dissatisfied, and I have no intentions of returning. In summary, both instances left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, prompting me to reconsider patronizing this establishment in the future.

This Safeway was the worst Safway I went to last night I was in self checkout and I only have a few items and a lady says I only have 10:45 PM to close at 11 pm and she was really rude and mean I asked you where the applesauce but she give me a weird look. She don't want to help me I will never come to the store again, and this happened last night who was that person is more nice

Almost everything I purchased I was overcharged. I literally went back and took a picture of all the items and took my receipt to the register and asked who can help me as I have never had to go back to a grocery store because almost every item was overcharged. To my surprise and I kid you not was asked if I brought $254.00 worth of food back...are you serious if I have to go home and pack up all that food and come back again I kid you not I want a full refund. So then I'm told if it was 2-3 items they can help me but because almost all items were overcharged they don't have time and I would need to come back tomorrow and that they themselves get overcharged all the time and have to wait to get refunded. So what I'm hearing is you are aware there is a problem and no one's fixing it and tomorrow I have to drive back again and I may or may not get it fixed hopefully someone tomorrow has time to help me and I may or may not have to bring all these groceries back. Hmmm this is great customer service.

Why does your security always target colored people? Every time when I go alone they're always fallowing me regardless of what I am wearing, either high end clothing or thrifted. But if I go with my American BF it's like nothing.

As far as a location where you are locked inside and not trusted, this Safeway makes a better prison than a grocery store. If you can find a shopping cart, it'll be prone to stop randomly because it thinks it's being stolen, even while it's in the store. The utterly amazing amount of signs warning you that an emergency is the only time that you will exit from them, is mind blowing. And the fact that even once you are deep inside this secure facility with extremely limited exit points, so much basic inventory still remains under lock and key. It's as if we aren't meant to be there, and absolutely not trusted to shop there.

I agree with Rene R and James C--the store is like a prison. After self-checking $91 of groceries, I was informed that I could not leave the store until I scanned the receipt. Well, the receipt was at the bottom of one of four bags of purchased items. I had to empty all four bags so that the commandant would allow me to leave. Last time I'll be shopping at this store!

Juts stopped at this Contra Costa Blvd. store today 1/26/24 and it's like entering a prison. New security measures are offensive to customers plus no shopping carts at entrances. I will find another store for my regular shopping rather than feel as if I'm caged.

It's always dreadful dealing with their cashiers. Whenever I go to the regular cashier line, the cashiers always mess up with the product codes. Several times, I have been overcharged on bakery goods. An example is I'll buy 5 apple fritters that cost 99 cents each. The cashier will ring them up as danishes. The danishes cost 1.99 each. It's disappointing that I ended up paying double on the cashier mistakes. As customers watch out on what codes the cashier type in. The times when i didn't review my receipts on-site were when i was in a rush. There will be more items in the cart so the errors go unnoticed. I don't catch their mistakes until I'm reading the receipts later.

Until yesterday I would have given a 5 or maybe 4+ rating. It was where I did 95% of my grocery shopping. No More. Just installed: a metal fence barrier / gate entry and a "scan your receipt" exit system. They have previously placed more and more of their "high value" products behind locked doors. Not to mention placing a uniformed guard on duty. (Don't think they're armed but .....) I will not shop here any longer. I do not like being treated as guilty until proven innocent. Question for management: Do the product thefts amount to more than the amount which has been expended to set up this degradation?

Very neat and put together, never had a problem doing business at this branch. I just hoped, they could control solicitation that is often happening by their entrance.

This Safeway is safe and there selection is good. The reason I'm giving a mixed review is, you have to make sure you get the whole sale deal if you are buying wet cat food. We got ripped off, and we had to come back and get some money back. We won't buy wet cat food again here, but we will get other items here.

Update still not helpful. I came in to get something quick and use the restroom. I had to ask 5 people for the restroom. They kept sending me to other departments to get the code. Finally, someone said any employee can open the door, but we don't give out the code. And she went and opened it for me and my friend 9 year old son.Everything I come it's a bad exp with staff.-------This place hardly ever has saff and when they do their never helpful.I waited 10 minutes for someone to help or even acknowledge me at the hot food counter. All I wanted was 6 chicken wings. When a staff finally decided to ask if I needed help, they said they couldn't help me they only do the Chinese food. I asked who could, and they pointed to the one person making subs, who had been doing that the whole time I had been waiting and still had a line of 4 people to make subs for.She didn't offer to get someone to help or call for back up. Their is no manager anywhere to help staff when busy. That happens every time I'm here.If you want a place with staff that are helpful go down the street to the next one. Its so much better.
