I used to love this place. They had excellent fabrics in stock. I had my drapes, duvets, pillows, and bed skirts made here. The cost of services is very high now, as well very little in stock and diversity in fabric is limited.

It's taken me forever to write this review, but I'm happy to finally be sharing my wonderful experience. When I came into Calico I had a problem. I wanted to get new fabrics for my bedroom - duvet cover, throw pillows, curtains - with no idea where to start. Then, I met this designer, Amy. I had no idea she would be the answer to all my problems! Amy was so kind throughout the whole process. Remaining patient with me and answering all my questions. I knew I wanted the undertone of my room to be blue, and she helped me in picking out fabrics that would compliment the blue duvet we first decided on. I am so happy with the final result! I am still using my duvet cover and throw pillows today and love the combination. Thank you, Amy!

We had a great experience here! Amy, Elaine, and Cathy were so helpful. We were greeted immediately and asked several times if we needed help but they were not pushy. They just let us browse and pull what we wanted. Great customer service! Highly recommend!

In June of 2018 I purchased a large number of Hunter Douglas shades. The purchase and installation were fine. But beware of ever needing repair and customer service! In the winter of this year (2020) I needed a shade repaired. Not knowing what else to do, I called Calico. Even though the shade was still under warranty, they charged $415 to pick up the shade, send it to Hunter Douglas, and reinstall it. When another shade needed repair recently (still under warranty), I found another local company who came out, ordered the part from Hunter Douglas, put the shade back up, and will return to install the part when it comes in. All this for less than half the price from a company from whom I didn't even purchase the shades! While I understand that Calico does not have on site repair service, this is no way to treat a customer. Needless to say, I will never deal with them again!

I visited Calico at a very opportune time. Friday at around 2:45pm. Three sales associates and only 1 other customer. Linda offered her help and we immediately found the fabric choices I needed to look through . I let her know I'd be awhile and she offered to help me when I was ready. Linda gave me a sample of my choice and I took it home. It's gorgeous and thankfully goes with this particular Montgomery White I chose 6 yrs ago out of a brochure from Home Depot (never do that again ). I'm going to use Linda specifically because she was professional, patient and never made me feel rushed (or worse, 'uniquely frugal' ,which is kinda what I am) . See you soon Linda

Thrilled and full of joy with the end result. My home reflects honor and joy with finishing touch of custom drapes and pillows. Mary listened to my idea of what I wanted and within 10 mins had all the fabrics picked out. I love fabrics and I'm indecisive, but she made it simple and easy. Everyone in the store was always helpful and courteous. I'd been in the store probably a dozen or more times over the years just looking and staying under the radar. Why it took so long to actually do it seems so silly now. Feels like I truly stepped into honoring my home, loving where I live.

Amy (sales associate) helped me find that best fabrics for my needs quickly and efficiently. She was tuned in to my fabric needs in a store filled with a wide variety of sumptuous choices. Cathy (store manager) was also very helpful and especially generous with in-store and online discounts. I highly recommend Calico-Pleasant Hill, an easy ride from Berkeley.

I went to purchase drapery hardware in June of 2018. Getting in store assistance was a problem as the staff were busy talking to each other. When I got assistance it took three trips to the store to get the hardware ordered because I was ignored twice for extended periods of time. I was unable to make an appointment. When I ordered materials there was a 25% discount available. I paid $130 for measurements. The materials were either delayed 4 weeks or ? Because it took for me to call the store and email the designer for 10 days before the installer called me. I did not receive a response, not even a courtesy call back from the store to let me know after leaving umpteen messages that the materials were in. Then, I waited 2 weeks for an installer to come. When the grumpy installer came to the house he notified me that there were 20 rings missing from the order. It took several calls and emails to understand that the designer made a mistake and did not order enough originally. I waited an additional few months to get the additional rings. Once again weeks after the materials were due I had to call and email to find out where the rings were over several days. Again, no response until receiving a phone call to say they are at the store. I had asked the designer if they were going to be sent to my home and she never responded. After getting a phone message to come get the rings the designer emailed me that she wanted to check the order before contacting me to come to the store. She then offered to mail them to me free of charge, but due to the holidays they would not go out until the new year. When I arrived at the store the designer was present but had not even looked at the materials yet. They did not offer anything for my inconvenience. When I asked if I could get 30%off the additional rings because they were on further sale at the time, the answer was no. They also offer FREE measurements. The store staff did ask me every time I called if I was ordering drapery from them and each time I told them I made the drapes myself. Worst experience ever! If you have plenty of time for your materials and don't mind horrible customer service, the products are good. I will avoid this store at all costs in the future. Good luck.

Was looking for the us post office at this address. Stopped in this place to look around. I thought it was a simple fabric store, but it is so much more. This place is fabric for your home. Elegant and high quality material. The sales person was so gracious. I wanted to price out a room divider. They do such nice work. I'll definitely return to complete the order. BTW the USPS is in front and to the right. It is a tiny nondescript building- did not see it at all.
