One of the rarest beaches in Los Angeles area where you can visit with your four legged friends. We drove about 45 minutes from Glendale with almost no traffic on Sunday and were surprised to find the beach not too crowded which was just perfect for having a relaxing time with our 3 dogs who could run and have fun without bothering others.\\n\\nThe water was super warm unlike in other beaches we usually visit and the sand was somewhat clean. You could see some seaweed thrown on the beach but not so much to bother.\\n\\nOverall it was a great experience with the dogs and I definitely added to my favorite spots to visit.

I love this beach. My favorite not much people always clean and affordable parking rates. I've been coming during daytime, evening and night and really enjoy every time I go. The best!

Three ppl told me how ghetto this beach was, but when you're in a big group, none of it matters. You just have to time your conversations over the planes taking off. Otherwise, it's fine. You can burn wood on the sand because this is a state beach like Huntington.

A popular Southern California beach destination thanks to its bonfires, visited here on a Saturday evening in late July 2023. Parking is always a rock paper scissors likelihood gamble, and this particular visit it was more challenging then usual. Traffic control stopped entry to the parking lot right in front of me, so it took over 90 minutes to find parking in the secondary lot adjacent to the Dockweiler youth center. From there it was a forty minute walk to the particular lifeguard tower my friends were gathered at. On the bright-side I hit my daily 10,000 steps. Wish there was a digital board visible on Imperial Highway and or frequent social media posts about Dockweiler parking availability to better assist excited visitors who trek far and wide to enjoy the bonfire and overall beach amenities. There could be better lighting along the beach boardwalk pathway from the various parking lots, visibility is a bit strained after sunset.

Had a great time having a bonfire with friends, but my group had to clean up 20+ nails from around the fire pit. Airplanes are constantly passing overhead. I went in the water and got a rash on my arm that thankfully quickly faded. Bathrooms were gross, as expected of beach bathrooms. Bring your own toilet paper.Very pretty beach and not a whole lot of litter on the sand. Lots of trash cans. Parking on the weekend was $13. Lifeguards were on duty. Overall vibe of the beachgoers was nice. There was also a beach market. The waves were nice; too bad about the skin reaction I had.

Older beach, not crowded on weekdays in the summer. There are fire pits that are there to grill meals/ warm in winter. There are restrooms and a place to buy food and drinks. Plenty of parking- cost $9.00 per car all day - no in/out. There are three sections of the beach and three parking lots. The center lot is closest to the restrooms/snack shop.Restrooms: There are stand alone and permanent restroom facilities. Not all that clean, but there is soap and water.Picnic area: I believe this beach is one of the few in the area that have fire pits for use. Some people get there pretty early to claim them for the evening. We have used them more in the winter, but people use them year round.

This is one of my top go-to beaches in Los Angeles County for several reasons. I love Venice and Santa Monica, but sometimes traffic is just more than I can deal with, and parking can be almost impossible on busy weekends or holidays. I've never had that problem at Dockweiler. It will get a little busy and if you're using the paid parking you may have to wait awhile but compared to other places in Los Angeles County it's just not as bad. There's a park on Vista del Mar overlooking dyockweiler and Playa del Rey and there is no cost for parking there. You'll want to get there well before sunset though because those free spots will fill up pretty quickly. The same goes for the neighborhood down the street off of Waterview. If you've seen very many Los Angeles beach pictures on social media there's a real good chance you've seen some taken from this neighborhood and for very good reason. All of this area is great for shutterbugs like me. It still gets pretty busy, however relatively speaking traffic and parking are much easier to deal with in general at Dockweiler and the aforementioned spots off of Vista del Mar. There are a number of other reasons why you can get some great pictures in this part of the bay. Some of the other hassles you might run into in the more crowded beaches are far less pronounced here... I mean it's L.A. so some things just go with the territory, but if you haven't been living in a complete vacuum you should be just fine here. You can see all the way to the Santa Monica Pier and the Santa Monica Mountains so if you have the right lens you might save yourself some of the common hassles most tourists will deal with. There's a great deal of paid parking right down on the beach. I've never seen it jump up in price as crazy as it does in the more famous beaches, although, like all of the beach parking in the area, prices do vary from day to day.One of the greatest things about Dockweiler Beach is that they have pits specifically for fires. I've seen plenty of people bringing RVs and grills and cooking out on the beach, or in the parking lot, on more than one occasion. It is one of the only, if not the only beach in Los Angeles County that you can have a fire. Keep in mind that is contingent on environmental conditions and sometimes, due to dry conditions, fires temporarily will not be permitted.Along with the fire pits, and easy access, there's so much more space available... So it's not uncommon to find fun stuff going on here after dark. In a previous job I rented members of a famous band a generator and ended up getting invited to a private birthday party where they performed that night down on Dockweiler. That sort of thing is pretty common at this beach.Between the overlooking park (with playground), easy access from above with footpaths, lots of relatively affordable parking, plenty of bathrooms, great views, bike paths fire pits and lots of fun activity after dark, Dockweiler really has something to offer everyone. Be safe and have fun!

Busy, clean beach ⛱️ with several lifeguards on duty. Parking was plentiful today with daily parking $9. Loved watching the planes departing.

Beautiful beach, great fire pits (get here by 4-5pm if you want one and Definitely bring firewood if you want to stay later and have a bonfire as there is none to purchase at the beach).

Very nice beach, great for viewing planes taking off from LAX. Headed down here for the Fourth of July, and there were lots of fireworks all up and down the beach. Restrooms close around 8 pm, but there are port-o-potties north of the beach at the parking lot that are open all the time. Technically, you aren’t allowed to drink alcohol on the beach, but no one cares. Just don’t be hassling strangers and stick to your space and the police won’t bother you. I didn’t see any footpolice anyways, only LAPD helicopters.

Really nice beach. But if you want to relax and hear the ocean go somewhere else. LAX 8 min away and planes flying over nonstop. So many seashells tho so that is the plus. Pretty cool they hsve firepits in one section also. The reason they got 1☆ is because they charge for parking but none of the restrooms have toilet paper. We went on two different days and two of ehe different sections. You would think they could atleast put toilet paper charging so much for parking.
