“Great service (5 stars) reliability of the car’s condition slightly questionable (3.5 stars). I bought my 2013 VW here almost three years ago now. It’s been one of my favorite cars that I’ve owned. As others have said the process was quick and I was out of there in no time. Daniel and his partner were honest, considerate and professional with me. The service was above and beyond.That said, the check engine light came on immediately as I was driving home. I called Daniel and he gave me guidance on the car. The light went off and then returned on shortly thereafter. He personally came out to Berkeley and picked up the car and took it to his mechanic twice to fix the issue. And it was fixed….for a couple months. Then the light came back. And this would happen for the next year and a half before I took it to a VW dealership. To be fair to Daniel’s mechanic, the VW dealer initially missed diagnosed the isssue as well. Then VW got it right. The whole fuel pump system was failing and needed replacement (Daniel’s mechanic had said it was the catalytic converter— and to Daniel’s credit he paid for the replacement out of pocket, in addition to picking up the car himself a few times). Long story short, the check engine light was fixed by VW….and now is back on again!!!On balance, the car has always run great and I got a great deal on the price from Diablo Motors. And I’ve been told that VWs and in particular GTI’s have finicky check engine lights. It would just feel good to have the light fixed once and for all! (I am trading the car in shortly to a dealership for an upgrade after three years of fun riding).Overall, happy with the car and purchase (AND wish it was more throughly diagnosed from the beginning. Both are true). 4 stars!”
