Today I went to the Wells Fargo Bank in Piedmont. When I arrived there were no tellers on duty. Apparently the one teller working today was involved with a customer problem and in another part of the bank. Three other customers came in and eventually walked out because of absolutely no service. I asked a woman working at one of the desks across from the teller's window when someone might be available for a routine transaction. She had no idea and suggested I come back another time. In summary, there was ZERO customer service.

I am often in this branch and have always had respectful, although at times, somewhat clueless service...until yesterday.Yesterday I went in to open an additional account. Note that I already have an account there; I am NOT a stranger, or at least, I shouldn't be to them.Nope, no can do. You have to make an appointment. O.K., I am not giddy with happiness that I have to make another trip back, but, whatever. However, the "Senior Branch Premier Banker", Ms. F., who "helped" me did not know what a POD account was, insisted she had told me something she did NOT tell me, and flatly, rudely contradicted me, not once, but twice.Unnecessarily unpleasant and disrespectful. I am taking my money elsewhere.

Summary: Wells seems to think that they’re the DMV and not a bank. Not sure if this is a general theme or branch specific theme.Showed up on a Thursday around 3:50pm to wire a large sum of money out of an investment account, ONLY because 1. The online ACH and wire limits are below what I wanted to transfer out and 2. I called them and apparently I needed to fax some form to be able to do this over the phone, and the fasted way to do this was in the branch.Having been spoiled by Chase, who treats their clients seriously, I didn’t think I needed an appointment to wire money out in a branch with 0 customers. Of course, I was wrong - after 10min of diddling between the teller and the banker, got told by the banker that she’s busy and that she’d be free on Tuesday noon - this is 3 business days later. I politely refused and walked out feeling like this is the worst bank I’ve ever dealt with. The last time I wired money, both Chase and Wells (different branch in SF) handled it graciously without punting me.Suffice to say that I’ll be closing my account here and moving back to Schwab.

Visited here today and this is the best Wells Fargo (interior deco-wise and service-wise) that I've been so far.

I called to see if I could get a temporary debit card. Mines had been fraudulently activities on it. My Mother had an eye appointment at Kaiser Oakland. I called the lady that answered he phone was so sweet. She said let me check for today. Now, bc of Covid-19 this shocked me today no way. Another teller came in the phone and said they had an opening at 3pm,3:30p.m. or 4 pm. I said 3 please. She took my information email we laughed about spelling my last name. Fee like you pay a fee I married into that mess. She said we will see you this afternoon. Sweet I said yea you will. I'm still in shock that they had one available today. Thank you Wells Fargo. I will update after my appointment.

I love this bank! The tellers and managers are friendly, kind and helpful. I understand while all my friends in Piedmont use Wells Fargo. While all my neighbors in Berkeley quit the local Wells on College Ave. So much depends on the branch. Even though I live in Rockridge I'm moving all my banking to The Piedmont branch. And I feel like Frodo leaving Mordor, to get back to the Shire. Ok. No bank is that awesome but still it's really cool.

As long as I'm reviewing banks today, I'll review this one because it's memorable in my mind (though I've only been inside a few times). I'll never forget how they actually recognized that I was walking my aunt's dog one day and asked if they could offer her (the dog) some treats they kept at the desk. Talk about going above and beyond in customer service. I still cite that memory as a reason for liking Wells Fargo on a customer service level. How often do hugely profitable corporations do normal human things? Yes, the bank charges a ton of fees, but they really are top notch at making themselves feel like a part of the community (as opposed to being the metaphorical fingers of the CEO--as with others). Bravo, Wells Fargo of Piedmont, you're awesome

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. On October 17th I went into this branch to close all of my accounts because I no longer want to bank with Wells Fargo anymore. I sat down with a guy there and told him I wanted to close my accounts. I was informed that because I had a pending autodraft happening the next day that he would close my account after it happened. I received a letter in the mail informing me that my accounts had been closed. Fast forward to today, when I got an overdraft notification on my phone for the account that I was under the impression was already closed. Lo and behold, my savings account was closed but my checking was not. I called Wells Fargo customer service, and they told me that I would have to go back to the branch and settle this in person, and they MIGHT give me the overdraft fees back. So now I'm angry. I now have to spend my extremely limited free time going into this office yet again on a Saturday because I work during the week and can't get in there until the weekend. Meanwhile, my account is still sitting there, open, just waiting to allow another accidental charge to go through so they can hit me with another overdraft fee because Wells Fargo is a greedy money-hungry garbage company. Do not under any circumstances bank with Wells Fargo. Do yourself a favor and use a credit union.

Love this hometown bank in p-town. All the people who work there are the upmost friendliest. They remember who you are and will greet you by your name. This branch is uniquely decorated and stands out as the best looking bank I've ever walked into. It is decorated in an Asian fusion eclectic furnishings. It is inviting and warm. Not your typical boring beige institutional banking setting. Besides the best customer service, they offer you coffee, water, cookie, and popcorn. It's THE best bank!
