Piedmont is a small, quiet city, with Oakland surrounding it!! Piedmont Park is the on the main street here, which is Highland Avenue. It's a very nice park, and seems to be the main place in this city where people congregate. It's also right next to the Police Department. Piedmont Avenue, ironically, isn't even in Piedmont. I know lots of people get that wrong. But this is a very quiet, suburban town, seems like a nice place to live if you can afford it.

Our company has been working in the Oakland/Piedmont area for years. Specifically in the bathroom remodeling industry. We have found the city inspectors and staff to be thorough, insightful and friendly. The response time is typically within 24 hours which helps keep our proctect moving forward. We know dealing with inspections can be frustrating, but not with this staff. See you on the next project.-Busk Bros. Tile

REVIEWER #9 Let's give it up for the City of Piedmont! Yayee Yayee! The City of Piedmont is a small-residential suburban city located in Alameda County. Piedmont is completely surrounded by the City of Oakland. The name Piedmont comes from the region of Piedmont in Italy and means foothill. Piedmont Avenue offers a wonderful vibrant mix of locally owned shops and famous ice cream shops; I totally encourage you to check this area out. I was able to experience what this little city has to offer during my hiking one evening with my Meetup Hiking Group! The City of Piedmont is truly known for their amazing school systems, limited banks, fantastic grocery store called Mulberry's Market and their historical parks. Piedmont is small but offers fantastic views of the City from the top of the hidden hills. If you're ever in Piedmont, I encourage you to check out the following: -Mulberry's Market-Makes great sandwiches! -Glen Echo Park Piedmont Cinemas Mountain View Cemetery Some quick tip history: -There was a house that was built in 1870; and is considered the oldest house in Piedmont -Downtown Piedmont consist of 1 market and 3 banks (very limited on shops and stores around the area) -Also, interesting fact! Airbnb is banned from this city! Yikes. Overall, very lovely city with lots of history! I truly enjoy walking around Piedmont and getting to understand the history and explore the lovely shops around the area.

I believed Jeffrey Grote had integrity and abide by the City of Piedmont code. But Jeffrey Grote showed lack of integrity and will do what is the easiest path for him even if it violates the City's Code. I feel very stupid to trust him because he will ignore Piedmont Code for his best interest. The City of Piedmont even had a confidential file on me.

There is NO City as responsive to Community concerns as Piedmont! A lot of of your reviewers don't live in Piedmont, they live in Oakland near Piedmont Avenue which is NOT in Piedmont; a stretch of Oakland Ave is in Piedmont, though the majority is in Oakand. To the complainers, we live in "Lower Piedmont". Fascinating that uninformed people are complaining about Piedmont's "parking meter rates", because Piedmont doesn't have any parking meters...

For those reviewers who left negative comments , they probably don't live in Piedmont so don't really know what's going on. Or they are just player hating. I moved here 4 years ago and at first I wasn't sure myself because, yes, property prices are steep, compared to neighboring cities withhold schools too. But then, as I live here, I realize how friendly people really are. The schools are great because the parents are so involved and donated tons to make it happen and the high property taxes from the expensive real estate pay for them. The police is the most responsive police I've ever seen and that's important as a parent of young kids, and living next to Oakland where the spill over of criminals come to intrude our houses. And there are so many community events that people look out for each other here. I have not met a snob so far! Even the truly rich ones. Yes, people talk about money because many of them work with money such as in businesses and finance industry and they take care of their personal finances so that they have long term security. Nothing wrong with planning ahead for retirement and kids' college expenses. The stay at home moms here actually do a lot! They exchange notes on how to get affordable babysitters. They actually believe in good family values so prefer to do most stuff raising their kids on their own. Yes some of nannies because they work full time. Some have cleaners because they can't do it all (it's a myth anyways) and also the houses are too big to clean by yourself. I clean my own house but I have a nanny because I want my kids to have as much attention and care as they can get and it's important I have date nights because a good marriage makes good parenting (it's a fact...I'm a therapist, I know). It's actually quite surprisingly diverse too with people who moved from other countries to live here due to job transfers etc. All in all, I love this town and the people here. Won't ever leave and hope my children wants to come back and live here after they go to college and are at age of settling down.

Like the movie, American Beauty. Picture perfect on the outside, but broken on the inside.

Pro(sort of): Schools are great .... except they can get a little too competitive, both in an academic way, which is not that bad, and in a "you live in lower Piedmont and your house is only worth 900k, your parents do not have 6 cars and 3 houses, and actually cook and clean and shop??", which is definitely pretty bad. Fortunately, that type of behavior does not seem to begin until at least the 4th or 5th grade. Heaven help you if you do not own your own house ... Of course, you figure out pretty quickly where these kids are learning their values. The stay-at-home moms get together for various groups and talk about their nannies, cooks, and house cleaners and vacations and impotent husbands and so forth. If someone actually admits to being a real "stay at home mom" who takes care of kids on a regular daily basis, perhaps picks up after the kids sometimes and cooks for them and tucks them in, then the expressions drop to a state of extreme disbelief: how can you possibly do all that? is your husband cruel? poor? but seriously, you have a nanny and a wet nurse, right? at least? you simply have to call my friend's old nanny/housekeeper/personal assistant/assistant house keeper/whatever. You cannot possibly go on like this. Wait, you want to breastfeed your own child for more than 2 months? You mean 3 months, right? Wait a year? I think you need a divorce and therapy. Your husband has obviously brainwashed you and/or is clearly not rich enough to maintain the lifestyle we expect our "friends" to have. Speaking of friends, T's husband lost his job so we will have to kick her out of the group. He is obviously too dumb to realize that the only job worth having involves owning a very large company, not working for one. A couple meetings with other mothers and all of a sudden people who seemed to have a particular set of values need to ween their babies with the assistance of a cook and a nanny. There are a lot of other cons, but yes, the parks are nice, the town creates the appearance of not living in the middle of Oakland, the schools are good and after a year or two there you can know nearly everything about nearly everyone else who lives in Piedmont (or, if you choose not to bother, they can at least know everything about you). Don't get me started on the "public servants." I guess they have your back---always ready and willing to drive around town looking for people who don't seem to belong there (pulled over once---speeding---"hello sir. do you know how fast you were going?" "No, I don't." [looks in car] "Oh, never mind. You aren't the type of people we are watching out for..." The cops are super competitive too: when there is no opportunity for racial/economic profiling, they like to sit around the proverbial table at the station and discuss who managed to score some action with female (or maybe male) residents of the town. How do the score big? Sometimes just drive around, make sexual comments to various women until one seems compliant, but apparently they prefer the ease with which they can comfort a wife who is lonely or perhaps has marital problems. Oh, in case you are O.K. with this, or the thought of a strapping middle aged officer in a uniform makes you want to move there that much more, consider they don't seem to think that girls in high school are entirely out of bounds...

My family moved to Piedmont when I started eighth grade, and my parents still live there. These days, I live a half-block from the border. In addition to all the great stuff you might already know about Piedmont (excellent public schools, beautiful houses, jaw-dropping views of the Bay, responsive emergency services, tree-lined streets, plenty of carefully landscaped and maintained public spaces), here are some other choice tidbits: * The. best. fourth. of. july. parade. EVER. * Not one, not two, but THREE banks. * Covered paths that smell wonderfully of decaying plant matter (I do mean that, they smell so fertile). * Icees at Convenient, I mean Bonfare, I mean Mulberry's. * Wild boars. * The Park. * The Exedra. "When I grow up" (ha, I'm already 27 now...), I totally plan to move back to Piedmont!

Was on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, $1.50 per hour, with a two hour limit. You can keep feeding the machine. Heard Kaiser is building a parking structure, hopefully that will alleviate the parking congestion in the area.

This is really a great place to live. I moved here last year from a little over a mile away in Oakland. It has been wonderful. If you call them, the police show up within a couple of minutes. Also, it is quiet here. In Oakland, my car was broken into multiple times and homeless people would pick though our trash making a lot of noise all night. Here, it is quiet. I wake up to the sound of birds in the morning. It is crazy expensive to live here, but completely worth it. Most of the neighbors are really good too, a few are snooty, but at least they don't break into my car.
