I've lived in 7 different states in the US~ so when I say I've been to a lot of nail techs, I truly mean it. I'm also a very seasoned hairdresser; worked in very high end salons with nail techs, so I know good work when I see it... If you're looking for an upbeat boisterous nail salon, this is not it. Hope is one on one in a small salon. Her standards to detail and perfection are for me, unmatched. I love pink and white nails. She is the BEST when it comes to this. I promise. She shapes and creates mostly by hand and barely uses a drill. She can do designs etc, but she's more of a classic, very professional and detail oriented, nail tech. You can tell she truly loves her craft.

There is still Hope! Thanks be to God! Pedicures are new to us. What a wonderful discovery. It feels tike I am walking on someone else's feet. Much better than my old ones. Thank you, Hope, and see you in 6 weeks! Margaret and Tom

My friend and I came for pedicures a while back. They did a great job! People were friendly, and they talked us in to doing a paragon wax treatment. Felt nice, but softness didn't last longer than a couple of hours. Still enjoyed the space and the service. Lots of colors to chose from which was nice. My only critique was the pricing, pretty pricy for what I consider to be a basic service. I'd go back though!

After recently moving to Oakland and trying two other Nail Salons that I found to be less than satisfactory, I came across Montclair Nails and Monica to be specific. The women who work here are extremely friendly and talented. The shop is also new and very comfortable. I asked for natural looking acrylic nails with gel and that's exactly what I received. I couldn't have been happier. I highly recommend this business. By the way, this is the first Yelp review I've written, as I've never felt compelled enough to do so before now.

I have been to nail shops that would file my nails down to near bleeding, rush through and overcharge me only to have them lift or break a week later. The owner Hope is amazing and her silk nail wraps withstand two weeks of piano playing, dish washing, daily workouts, hair shampooing and my crazy schedule every time. She only hand files, takes her time and is very gentle. My natural nails have never been this long! I will never go back to the old days. Thanks Hope!

I looks for many places and based on the few but good reviews for this place I called and made an appointment to get a manicure She has an opening for 3-4 days after. She asked for name phone number and she asked for a debit card info because she has a 24 hour cancellation policy( I guess she charges some or full amount if you don't show up, honestly never asked) so had my nails done on 11-16 she was great very nice friendly and her place was some what clean dust all over and she used sterile equipment she did this scrub she cleaned by wedding rings she did a massage very gentle..she works by her self and with appointment only... as soon she was done with me another client walked in and just by the way she kept looking at me made me feel like I didn't belong there ( from head to toe)... So I got this olive color very settled but only lasted 2-3 days long now have to cancel follow up appointment because never going back... payed $33 for manicure $7 tips Grand total $40 so it last this little no thanks

Fabulous manicures and pedicures. Hope (owner and only manicurist) is very nice and excellent at silk-type nails. I've been going to her for 3 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Love her!!!

I love coming to see Hope. She always treats me with such sweetness and undivided attention. Her mani and pedi's are the best! They last forever! She also has a very big collection of polishes to choose from. I will never go anywhere else :)

Do you ever go to a business and think "Why didn't I start coming here earlier?!?" That is how I feel with Montclair Nails. I have been getting my nails done for years. Finding a place that does silk nails/wraps is harder than you can imagine. I used to go to a place in Public Market, that is now "The Lounge." They no longer do silk wraps. Searching for another place to get my nails done, I ended up at another nail salon in the Emeryville area. They did an OK job, but it was OBVIOUS the lady doesn't like to do silk nails. She kept telling me how time consuming it is, etc..etc. I realized that going back to her, especially since it took her over 2 hours to do a full set was not an option. On the hunt for a new nail salon I go, that's when I came across Montclair Nails. All the reviews I read of their's are 5-stars. I wasn't due for a fill for a few weeks, so that was going to have to be put on hold. Well, last night one of my nails broke (pretty common with a new set of silk nails). Around 11am today I called and spoke with Hope, she is the owner of Monclair Nails. She was very nice and said she could take me at 12:30pm (which ended up being during her lunch hour). I got there a little early, she took me right in, fixed the nail and did a MUCH better job than the previous nail person (or really any nail person I've had frankly). She wasn't even going to charge me anything, I had to give her something for basically giving up her lunch for someone who wasn't even a normal client. While my nail dried she speed ate a bowl of soup, before the next client arrived around 1pm. This is not your typical, large (cattle like) nail salon where they get you in & out as fast as possible and customer service isn't their strong suit. Hope is the owner/manicurist of the salon and its a small office/suite within a business building above Starbucks. She is VERY nice and prides herself on doing a great job. You really can't go wrong with her. As you can imagine, she is VERY busy. If you are interested in an appointment, especially a Saturday appointment, I recommend calling a week or so before you intend to come in and see her. She also works evenings. I have already scheduled my next appointment and am looking forward to seeing her.
