Jack's hardware saves all the locals the hour and a half trip to Ukiah and back. The employees are friendly and helpful. Their store is an asset to our community.

Only game in town so they ain't always the least expensive-but they have helped me with all my home maintenance needs for 20 years. Always helpful-basic lumber, plumbing, irrigation, etc.

Went to get firewood. The sign in the wheelbarrow said $6.49. I get in to ring up my purchase, she CHARGES ME $7.25 PER BUNDLE! I go pick up the sign and show her the price, and she says "Gimme that! That's the old price," as she points to a sign underneath the lip of the wheelbarrow facing the store (hidden from plain view).I commented that changing the price like that is wrong. She said it was already marked. I told her that this was on the bundles inside the wheelbarrow, and I never saw the hidden sign facing the wall of the store. I suggested maybe they turn that around so their customers could clearly see the sign... "Ooookkaaayy," she exclaimed, clearly exasperated by the conversation. As that was the ONLY place within twenty miles with firewood, I paid the higher price. I shouldn't have, but the *ahem* lady clearly didn't understand how fair business practice works, nor how to use any interpersonal skills that she might have acquired over what I can only assume is a very long career as a cashier. All I can say is that I will never be back to this joint, EVER, because of her. She needs retraining, and maybe a probationary period.

We've stopped and bought ice cream and camping items here before, but they were really nice when we had a car break down and had to leave it for a while to go get the part to fix it.

Good way to avoid a drive to Ukiah, and Bill's generally pretty helpful.

We are very lucky to have a locally owned and managed hardware store in Philo. They usually have what we need. Yeah, each item may cost a little more but Jack's saves a drive of 45 min each way to the Ukiah corporate big box stores so it probably saves time and money to use this local store plus keep the money local.
