Ryan from Mack Wallbeds repaired my wallbed/"Murphy bed" this past week, and I was impressed and delighted with the thoroughness of his work. The wallbed needed adjustment and/or repair in various places on both vertical and horizontal planes. It had been installed years before I bought my place and needed serious attention to various problems that'd developed. Ryan had not made or installed this wallbed but was completely focused on identifying and addressing all its issues. I cannot speak highly enough of his knowledge, professionalism, attention to detail, and courtesy. Thanks again, Ryan! Maggie G.

I've had a Mac wall bed for 35 years. Aside from being a little squeakier, it works just as well as when it was installed. Excellent quality and craftsmanship. Highly recommended.

We've had our wallbed for over two years now. We pull it down every night and put it back up in the morning. It is our primary bed and it works like a charm. Excellent craftsmanship as well as service. We couldn't be happier

Ryan was a pleasure to work with. He has immense knowledge in his craft and produces amazing work. He built a wall bed for me last year and I've been enjoying sleeping on it as well as the extra space it provides in my room. Would highly recommend this business to anyone looking into his services.

We've been sleeping on the Eurobed that Ryan built for us, for a few months now. Putting it away each morning and pull it down each night. Solid craftsmanship.Ryan was a pleasure to work with. From showing us the different models and their respective features, to coordinating delivery and even installing the bed himself. The cherry cabinet and headboard look amazing, and the wall-bed itself works like a charm. We couldn't be happier. Strongly recommended to those looking for a good quality wall-bed.

The owner of Mack Wallbed Systems is a great person, providing amazing customer service! I purchased a Selby wall-bed 15 years ago from a company in Sacramento that is no longer in business. I called every company in the Sacramento marketing area that sold wall-bedRyans. No one carried Selby and they would not service this bed. They were only interested in selling me a new bed. Now my bed might be 15 years old but it looks beautiful and I did not want to spend a lot of money to replace a beautiful piece of furniture, especially since I had just replaced the mattress a week before the spring mechanism in the Selby wall-bed broke. Thanks to the internet I tracked the Selby manufacturing site to New York City. I spoke to the owner of Selby and he gave me some leads which eventually led to Ryan. I text photos of the bed and spring mechanism to Ryan. Mack Wallbed Systems did carry Selby until 2009 so Ryan was very familiar with the beds and this problem. He had a piece of iron fabricated to pull the cabinet sides together, moved an existing brace and then repaired the spring mechanism. Ryan adjusted the tension on both sides. Now the wall-bed lifts easier than when new. Remember these factors: The bed was purchased from another vendor. I currently live in Lincoln, CA - a good 2 hour drive each way when traffic is light The repair took about an hour. Ryan helped a customer that could not really refer neighbors and friends for sales of his Wall-bed systems because of the distance to shop. This is great customer service. Repair costs were reasonable. Ryan did exactly what he said he would do, on time and very tidy work. This is a family business, Ryan grew up helping his dad and learning the trade; eventually buying the business. You can really see Ryan is vested in the business and his customers. If I was buying another wall-bed I would make the trip just because of his great service. Thank you Ryan!

Ryan McGunagle estimates he's made and installed about 2,000 wallbeds since his dad put the business in his hands some years back. His experience shows. While I didn't buy a wallbed from Ryan, I certainly wish I had. This would have saved me a great deal of time, money and frustration compared with the nightmare with another bed manufacturer in Colorado. What Ryan did do for me was salvage that wallbed purchase, which had gone terribly wrong. In the process of working through the problems, Ryan proved himself to be a real master of this particular type of furniture. And his attention to detail and level of skill is really impressive. So here's how it all came down. A couple of years ago I decided to remodel the ground floor of our house, and wanted a wallbed as it provides a way to multi-task the space. So I searched around and found a lot of units that looked okay but when examined more closely revealed a very sketchy mechanism to raise and lower the bed. Also, the cabinetry surrounding these beds is typically made of particle board which makes the thing kinda wobbly due to poor strength/weight of the board. At some point I happened on the website of SICO, Inc. which makes what is in fact the most substantial wallbed mechanism available, virtually a quantum leap in quality over units I had seen before. To build the bed I was referred to SICO's distributor in Denver, with its splashy website showing wallbeds with all kinds of cute arrangements: TV screens, wetbars, winery tanks, or whatever. I visited the showroom and worked out a deal with the owner. The bed had to fit in a certain space between 2 closets just so, but the owner said no problem we'll get 'er done pardner. But after almost a year's delay what arrived was built in such a way that the bed was useless, as it could not fit in the space involved (see attached photos of finished project). After months of haggling I realized too late the Denver operation was an incompetent ripoff, and that to salvage my purchase what I needed was someone local who also knew how to build wallbeds using the SICO mechanism. And that's how I found Ryan. He makes beds of quality at least as high as the shop in Denver, but also has a stellar reputation for reliability. Oddly enough, there are quite a few more Yelp reviews that attest to this but not clearly visible because they "didn't make the cut". I'm not sure what this means as they are all 5-star and some were written in the last year or so. I suggest you check out these "other" reviews to get a better idea of how well satisfied his customers have been. Knowing what I know now I certainly would have gone to Petaluma in the first place to buy my wallbed. But by the time I found Mack Wallbeds I didn't need a bed, I needed a craftsman to make the best of what I had. Ryan knows inside and out the SICO mechanism, how to build a bed around it, and its installation. What I also learned from this experience is that finding the right shop to build the bed is only half the job. Built correctly these things are substantial pieces of furniture. If you buy it somewhere else, you may find that installing it is not something the average carpenter really knows. I was lucky to find Ryan who turned my original nightmare into exactly what it was supposed to have been in the first place. I can only give him my highest recommendation, and my sincere thanks for helping create a very valuable extra bedroom in our home.
