I've absolutely been loving coming here. :) Dr. Hajar is amazing and has caught so many things that previous doctors have missed with my cats and is always very patient with my questions and concerns. The staff is also always super friendly! I had an emergency with one of my cats and they were able to accommodate him immediately which I am so grateful for. I feel my babies are in good hands here and are always in good spirits after their visits. Highly recommend!

The hardest decision of my life was made yesterday, and the staff at VCA were kind, patient, and so helpful with my beloved cat, Patches. I was so worried that her last moments on earth would be spent somewhere cold and in fear...but that wasn't the case. I am so grateful to the staff and Dr.Hadjar for the warmth and grace you showed us. My heart is broken, and I miss her. I think a lot of young pet parents worry about vet visits because of their finances, and I was no exception...but I trusted Dr.Hadjar when he said that vets are there to help. I'll be coming soon with my cat Misty and my dog Po. Thank you so much for everything you did for Patches. She was a happy, gentle, sweet kitty.

My tortoise needed to be seen asap and they were able to get him in and do all the diagnostics quickly. Unfortunately we had found that he was in such a horrible state and put him to rest was the kindest thing we could do. It was so difficult to make that decision but the vet really went above and beyond to comfort us and make sure that we knew this was the best choice we could make for our dear friend and family member. When you love your pet and want to fight for them, it’s truly the hardest choice to make. I’m beyond thankful for the staff here and am going to be recommending them to all my friends in the area and switching my dog to this location because they really are the best I’ve been to on this coast. And in regards to cost, the costs were typical for vets in the area. Unfortunately exotic animals are always more expensive to treat due to the specialized treatment. I didn’t receive any surprises and they were very upfront about the pricing so I have nothing bad to say.

I have never had such a combative conversation with no results offered by a company that did such a terrible job. Their hospital manager Tom, was very rude and kept trying to get me off the phone after a bad visit with no results offered or real care about the animal well being. Never going back while he's there.

This is for the Arroyo pkwy location. I called. explained that I was a new client establishing care here (I recently moved here) and also explained that my pup is having chronic, regular vomitting. I don't think that this lady was listening AT ALL, bc she then asks-are you a new client? Do you want to have her seen? And then she tells me that I have to pay the exam fee up front. NO, just NO. Very poor intro. Ill keep looking for a vet.

On 1/23/23, three days after posting my review, I received a callous, generic, dismissive reply posted publicly, referring to "mutual resolution" and "prescription policies" which "did not align with [my] expectations." The true facts are that there was never any attempt by VCA to honor its obligations or resolve this matter. No phone call, no email, no direct contact of any kind (much less an apology for or acknowledgment of our mistreatment). I was not told the truth on day one, and that pattern continues to present. The bottom line is that VCA failed to honor its commitment to renew my pet's prescription at Costco multiple times, repeatedly misrepresenting that it would do so and jeopardizing his health in the process. The only time a so-called policy of holding onto approvals for up to 5 business days was revealed to me was when it was sprung on me 2-1/2 weeks after the commitment to renew the RX the day of the office visit on 1/2 was made. Ironically, had I agreed to pay their high RX prices, we would have received the medication at that visit. To call this place untrustworthy is an understatement. As far as VCA is concerned, never again.

Staff is friendly and I usually get ok medical service...when it's available. Don't expect to be able to bring in a sick animal. They are often overbooked and understaffed and takes weeks to get an appointment. I had to take my pet the the emergency hospital for something they could have helped with if their doctors hadn't called out of the office so often. VCA has been monopolizing the industry and this is now their business model (they own the surrounding emergency hospitals). I regret choosing them.

Love this place! I’ve been taking my dog here for two years and have had nothing but a great experience. The vet really took the time to walk through all the test results and answer any questions I had and give me recommendations for changes I could make.

Great service. Will be taking my new puppy there. They have a monthly plan that is better than pet insurance. Def a great place for your pets.

STAY AWAY, this place is very expensive and unethical.Took the dog I adopted from Pasadena Humane Society to them on 7/22 and was prescribed this list of things in the picture, not only they are cheaper on Chewy but the Vet literally told me to return my pet to Pasadena Humane Society if I can't afford to pay this amount to them every month. The Vet also said my dog needs a $2000 surgery to fix its right eye, and the Vet also said it might need to be performed multiple times since there is no guarantee on success.I placed an order on Chewy to purchase the meds, and the order got declined because they were declined by the Vet. They called me today on 8/22 claiming my dog needs to do a couple of test before they can let me purchase these meds from Chewy. When I asked why didn't my pet need any of the tests they mentioned if I purchased the meds from them back on 7/22, they said because 4 weeks had passed and they need to re-evaluate my dog to re-prescribe the meds.Today is 8/11, only 20 days passed from 7/22. They simply want to charge you more $$$ before allowing you to purchase cheaper meds/supplies elsewhere. And guess what, my dog's right eye healed on its own within 2 weeks without paying for any surgery or meds. For the sake of your pet and your hard earned $, STAY AWAY.

We have been bringing our dogs to VCA A Breed Apart for over 20 years. Over that time, our dogs have been under the care of both Dr. K and Dr. Allsup. We've dealt with everything from routine care to cancer, and they have always provided exceptional care. I'm writing this review now because they were just so helpful today. We've had our newest dog for less than a year and early this morning discovered she was terrified of thunder. I called first thing in the morning to see if I could get an anti-anxiety prescription but they said she needed to come in first for an exam and soonest appt was the next day. I understood. Thankfully, my dog feels safe if she's driving around in the car (which we discovered because of her fear of fireworks), so we drove her around during the worst of the thunder to keep her calm. Less than an hour after I'd called about the prescription, Dr. K texted because she'd heard I'd called after telling the team to expect calls about thunder stress. She made a point of reaching out after she'd heard I'd called and immediately called in a prescription that I could pick up in the hour. It really meant so much that they followed up and didn't just leave me to come in tomorrow. And it meant a lot that Dr. K took the time to answer my questions since this was the first dog I'd ever had with a thunder phobia. The staff at VCA A Breed Apart is wonderful and caring. I highly recommend them.

I had an appointment with Dr. Hajar at VAC ABAH yesterday it was my first time to their practice. I was taking my sweet baby Indian Ringneck Parrot for his first physical. He was a little stressed and so was I, however, there was no reason for me to be stressed. The staff was welcoming and kind. Dr. Hajar is amazing, kind, informative, and most of all has a wonderful "bed side birdy manor". When the exam was finished he told me that Bobbie is stressed (which is normal) and he told what to do when I get Bobbie home, which I followed and this morning he is happy and eating well. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Hajar and the staff for their expertise and kindnesses. They will be Bobbie's doctor and care givers for life!

I am beyond grateful to have found this hospital. I brought in my sick baby bunny of almost 10 years...and sadly, she had to be put down. But during the process Dr. Hajji Hajar and the vet techs went above and beyond to help not only my bunny feel loved and comfortable during her last moments, but me as well. I was so upset that I had not brought her a treat to enjoy prior to her passing, but the Dr. and the techs were quick to find an apple for her, and even cut it up for her!! Their love and empathy towards us is something I will always treasure in my heart. Thank you Dr. Hajji Hajar and everyone, from the techs to the ladies at the front desk, for your all you did for us!! Thank you for your genuine concern towards all animals. May you all continue to help many furry ones with a joyful and empathetic heart.

I cannot possibly express in this simple Yelp review how AMAZING this veterinarian establishment is. They have taken such great care of my baby Emilio (he is a cat). I switched from a vet here in Altadena because VCA ABA was one of the only vets in the area who would let me go into the exam room with my child. When we were at our first appointment, I got to watch The Emperor's New Groove while we waited, and once in the exam room the veterinarian, Dr. Hajji Hajar, spent almost a whole hour with me and Emilio explaining, in first grade terms, what was going on with my cat. I did not feel as if I was rushed and he was incredibly kind and empathetic. Also, the assistant who helped us was incredibly helpful in assisting me with understanding the costs that were associated with this visit, and she was also very kind and caring. The front staff, just amazing. Everything has been simply amazing with this clinic. I had to put Emilio on a prescription food which was over $60.00 for a 5 pound bag. I get home and of course, my princess Emilio did not like it. They let me return the bag with a full refund and I was able to get a different "flavor" of food, which so far, he seems to enjoy. Just really outstanding service, from all fronts. Thank you VCA! You really are a breed apart =)
