We recently moved to the area, and needed a veterinarian hospital for our pets. From the first visit we were treated very well. The staff and Drs are very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. We gladly recommend Sierra Madre Animal hospital to all pet owners

They have been taking care of our rescue dod since we brought her home three years ago. The Doctor and his staff are friendly and professional, and they have taken good care of Coco.

Great customer service in the reception area! Truthful and transparent in an environment where most animal industry treatment centers are just unreasonable! L.A. County tax and elected oversight politicos just never get enough and have created am almost vacant business environment, on another note we need to support local shops and offices, globalization is a money grab, but man's best friend is as loyal as they get!Looking forward to having a meathead, I meant Apple head chihuahua in for some teeth and tartar cleaning!

The worst vet I met. Unprofessional at all. The medicine the doctor given to my dog for the skin issue causing my dog gastric ulcer and anemia.

The wait time was a little long; I was expected to be seen at 10 am, but had to wait until 10:40 to see the vet despite having an appointment.Aside from that, I have no serious complaints. I'm mainly giving 5 stars because the affordability was worth it. I scheduled an appointment for an exam and 2 shots (rabies and FVRCP) for my cat. The total came to about $100. I previously called another animal hospital for a price quote, and they told me that it would cost $1900 JUST for the FVRCP vaccine. Crazy! The only one who probably has a bad complaint is my cat, who became very upset with me for taking her to the vet to get her shots.

A great place to take your best friends. Everyone there I met was helpful and genuinely seen to care about my girl Spirit. She needed help with a ear problem and they were quick and reasonably priced. I would recommend them to anyone needing their help. Thanks guys. Gentleman Glen Curry. And Spirit our sweet Pitbull.

I've taken my puppy, Eddie here for 2 visits to get all updated with his shots. The nurses are very nice and adore Eddie. The main doctor is friendly and very thorough. I would definitely recommend anyone here, who is searching for a vet.

If your pet is seriously ill, do not come here. No sense of urgency at all. My dog died waiting for all their tests...test after test and days after days and so much money for their tests. I killed my dog by trusting this place. It's my fault I went to them and didn't realize they have no sense of urgency regarding onset of illness.

Zero stars if possible. Doctors can be as good as they should be. That is nothing to highlight because it is their responsibility. However, the representatives on the phone are a difficult war front to pass. I don't think they understand that the business has an owner who needs to get new clients or at least keep old clients happy and well cared for. That is not happening. The telephone attention today seemed to be well-mannered, but it was one obstacle after another. It was all a complaint about an old client like us. She complained that she did not find our last name, complained because on this visit we need to bring another pet instead of the first one we brought before, complaint because she wanted me to drop the cat in no more than 20 minutes, after that, they would not accept her. Also, she did not know what time we could pick her up after the $95 visit, it could be after lunch or just before 6:00 pm., but she couldn't tell me in advance, "but at 6:00 pm we closed". So the feeling is that she was there to kick customers off. That's not the way businesses should be run, not to mention those related to pet lives and owners concerns. Much lack of humanity. This type of representative should better go to work at a gas station or some place where she does not have to attend people who are worried about their pets. For the owners of Sierra Madre Animal Hospital: do not rely on a good period of time for the health of your business, make sure you train all your people properly. It is the only way that business remain in time.

I liked Dr. Cailleteau when we met 4 years ago, and I've been taking my adopted dog, "Cleo" there, ever since. Office policies during Covid has made our visits far less than pleasant, and I'd been wanting to find another vet. The following experience gave me an extra little push beyond my tolerance threshold, so Cleo and I won't be returning. In My world, there's no excuse for abuse. Sierra Madre's "covid" rules are so stringent, they won't even let ya walk your dog into their lobby, and force you both to endure "curbside pickup" from your car. In this current world insanity, I believe we're having to endure ENOUGH indignities and hyper-controls mandated by our "government," that we don't need MORE of it from our veterinarian! Never having had a dog before adopting my sweet Cleo (an Amstaff Bull Terrier), the doc initially recommended I give her heartworm medication monthly. What'd I know? I've had cats all these years, and am presently owned by three of em! The office recently refused to refill my request for Cleo's HeartGuard meds. They first said they'd only okay a 6 month box (I'd ordered 2 boxes from Chewy.com on sale, to save money) but THEN, Dr. Cailleteau refused to sanction ANY refills until we came in for Cleo's rabies vaccine and blood test for heartworm. We scheduled ahead for November 18th. I'm frankly perplexed as to why they still have to draw blood from her carotid artery to "test" for heart worm yearly, if you're dosing your dog monthly at home, with a preventive! What's the POINT of giving a medicine to insure your pet's immunity from a deadly disease, if it DOESN'T mean they'll stay healthy and safe??? ASK JOE BIDEN. The office CALLED ME a couple days ago, asking if I could come in THIS week as a "squeeze-in," rather than waiting for our pre-scheduled Nov. 18th appt, as this would allow the doc to grant my 12 month Rx request for heartworm chews! I drove all the way to "Sierra Madre Animal Hospital" (it's about a 20 minute drive) just to be told they were short-staffed that day, and couldn't squeeze Cleo in for her 3-year rabies shot and heartworm test. They obviously hadn't thought to phone earlier, and save us the trip~ OR mention it to me when I called ahead to say we were on our way. Abusive! So here we are at the vet's office, I'm not allowed inside their lobby, poor Cleo is shaking in dreaded anticipation of whatever's coming next, and we've made that trip FOR NOTHING. I told the assistant I wasn't angry at her, but that we were motivated to seek a new vet for her care. You might say, this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I was furious! What the heck do these vets do with NEW clients? Are you not even allowed to MEET the doctor who'll be treating your animal?? I'm telling ya, I will drive any extra miles I have to, to find a sane and rational veterinarian who doesn't feel compelled to traumatize both animals and their parents, just to satisfy their monthly spreadsheet.

I would not recommend this place at all. Knowing your animal passes away with no explanation couple hours after bringing her here for a teeth cleaning and they have no reason why? Or how? Knowing that you know your cat was healthy having no issues. It could be that maybe the Cat was resisting on getting a teeth cleaning and them probably being aggressive with her. You know you have the right to refuse to do something to the animals if their not wanting to cooperate. Things like this is a RED FLAG !!!!! You should be able to know that other animals have been to this location and have been okay! This is not OKAY!!! DR. CAILLETEAU/ People deserve to know what happen to their animals after dying when they we're in your care, your hands!!!!!!!!! Horrible Veterinarian if you ask me! That's a thing about certain veterinarians some don't really see it as caring for your animal they only give a f*** about the money.

I brought my beautiful 9 yr old boy cat Tiger to Dr. Cailleteau at Sierra Madre Animal Hospital to get his teeth cleaned. He died and they couldn't give me a definitive reason. At first Dr. Cailleteau said he "thought" Tiger vomited and it aspirated into his lungs. After my boyfriend scoured the paperwork and called with questions, he then said it was most likely undiagnosed heart disease, and offered to do a necropsy. This was at least 2 hours after Tiger died. They did not offer a necropsy immediately. They asked if I wanted some time alone to say goodbye, or if I just wanted them to take care of his body. I told him we were taking my cat home. Tiger has never been under anesthesia, except maybe when he got spayed as a baby. He didn't have any food for at least 12 hrs before the procedure, and no water at least 2 hrs before. So the suggestion of vomiting seemed strange. I posted all of this on a neighborhood group on Facebook, and a woman came forward who told me the exact same thing happened to her 3 yr old healthy cat at this same vet LESS THAN 3 weeks prior. The same details occurred: vomiting, aspiration, blood pressure drop, death. The emergency vet who tried to save her cat's life told her they had never seen so much fluid in a cat's lungs. This woman posted on Nextdoor and ANOTHER person came forward with the death of her healthy dog during a teeth cleaning at this vet, the previous year. Deaths during teeth cleanings are supposedly quite rare, approximately 1 in 1,000 cats per year, and 1 in 2,000 dogs per year. Here are 2 instances of cat deaths within a month of each other. Coincidental, maybe. But with the exact same details surrounding their deaths, I doubt it. Dr. Cailleteau's demeanor and careful word choices made me feel that they were only trying to cover their negligence. He and his staff displayed no active remorse for what happened. They also lied to my boyfriend when he asked if this had ever happened at their facility before, and certain discrepanies leave me to believe they lied about aspects of what modalities were used to actively save my cat's life there. A vet tech from a different place I spoke with said the records from that day looked insufficient. She also mentioned that if he had not eaten in over 12 hours, someone may have tried to give him food immediately after the surgery, then neglected to monitor him properly. Another vet who looked at these records concluded that: "The written history records indicated that Tiger had vomited 1-2 times a week for about 2 months, and his records in 2020 also noted a vomiting history. Also noted was the fact that you declined pre-dental lab workup--which might have revealed some abnormality, although his most recent earlier comprehensive lab tests on blood and urine were unremarkable." Tiger's vomiting always came after a meal. He would sometimes vomit up his meal. He had not had a meal in over 12 hours, nor water for 2 hrs. Any vomiting would have been unusual. And since his vomiting was already noted in the previous visits, and since vomiting/aspiration was the cause of the previous cat's death, why did the vet go forward with this procedure? The procedure took 14 minutes. According to another vet, if the cleaning took less than 45 minutes, there was no reason to do the procedure to begin with. Also, I DID NOT decline lab work. Tiger had gotten the required blood lab work during his previous visit here, which was within the 30 days Dr. Cailleteau told me would be sufficient for the dental work. The fact that they had me sign a release stating that I was declining this work, on the day I brought Tiger in for the procedure, honestly was a red flag to me, because I was NOT declining anything. They actually didn't even offer it again. When I questioned this, the receptionist said it was a technicality and simply meant he wasn't receiving blood work THAT DAY. I am furious and this man should never be allowed to treat another animal for the rest of his miserable life. My baby Tiger was

The staff were all very kind and patient with me~ it had been a while since I had taken my cat to the vet and they took such good care of her, and didn't freak her out at all. The doc was also very kind and honest, they won't try to sell you things/tests you don't need, I really appreciate that transparency. So happy I found the perfect vet for my fur baby!
