Great fun and wonderful members! If you have not tried lawn bowling I suggest going over to the Pasadena club and try. You will get hooked

During the height of the pandemic, my husband and I were looking for something outdoors where we could get some light exercise (we're not the athletic types) and have some fun. He'd also been into historic sports and since we live in a historic neighborhood, this was the perfect sport to try. We love lawn bowling! It's a really easy sport to pick up, and it's a fun strategy game to play with others. It's similar to bocce call but more awesome. The goal is to get your bowls (weighted balls on one side) next to the jack (a little white ball). You can play with anywhere from 2 to 6 or 8 people, though at this club you mostly play in pairs. The club itself is located in Central Park near the Castle Green. It's been around for 100 years. The club members are every age. I like that because you have all different skill sets and everyone has a varied background. We're all very friendly and accommodating. We have a great time. You can learn for free the first couple of times, and after that there is a nominal annual membership fee. But that's really the only cost. You wear your regular clothes and you can use all the equipment from the club for free. Look us up on Facebook and Instagram. Hope to see you there!

My husband and I were looking for some outdoor exercise (something not too strenuous) at the start of the pandemic. We are also into historic neighborhoods and activities. We found both here! We saw two club members while eating dinner across the street. They were so nice and invited us to a Saturday morning open bowl. We’ve been hooked ever since! The game is a great way to start your weekend. It’s a cousin of bocce ball and is a major sport in the Commonwealth countries. The club members themselves are a great, fun group of folks (all ages). It’s fun for whatever shape you’re in. You can take free lessons on Saturdays. It’s very casual dress and the club supplies all you’ll need. Once you join the club, you are also welcome at any other lawn bowling club throughout the country. I highly recommend trying out lawn bowling!

After being cooped up during the pandemic, I wanted to restart my monthly outings with my mom so lawn bowling seemed to be the best bet for a safe yet fun outing since it's outdoors! We were met by Lee who is the current president and super friendly. He guided us throughout the free lesson giving us tips and encouragement. We started around 10 am and we're done by 11:45. We all had a great time and would surely come again!

This changed my life. Honestly, they bowled me so hard here, I couldn't walk straight the next day.

I had never heard of lawn bowling. But friends invited us to join them for the opportunity to try it out. This is a private club with tournament croquet and lawn bowling. But it has open bowling on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9:00. Saturdays are also available for first timers to learn how to lawn bowl. The club is located in Pasadena's Central Park. It has a club house with refreshments for purchase and wonderfully friendly people. There is seating along the edges of the court with canopies to keep you out of the sun. Lawn bowling has some interesting strategies and it is not as easy as it first appears. Even though I will not be taking this up as a sport, it was fun to try it out. Parking is available on the street and in the lot across from the park (at the railroad station).
