November 2023 by Irfana Hashmi
We had a very bad experience with New Horizons Pasadena, from poor communication (our first tour, where we were greeted by 3 people, ended with them telling us our younger daughter, for whom we were touring, was too young to start that year), to finally applying and being told that our older daughter was not performing at grade level in Kindergarten and therefore could not be admitted to First Grade. I was surprised that they were unable to understand her report card--she had 90s across the subjects. We asked the director of my older one's private school to reach out to the folks at NHS to speak to our daughter's performance and they never responded to her email or our query. I found the school administration to be unprofessional and acting in bad faith. I delayed writing this review for some time because I think it is important for Islamic institutions in the West to be supported by the community. Having said that, I found this one was disappointing and it left a really bad impression. This review is not meant to be an attack but constructive feedback for the admin and advice for parents (who never have enough time) looking for a place for their little ones.

the best. That's what this school is. I speak what I truly feel about the school. Before I entered NHS, I was very shy and weak in character. In my previous school, I had been constantly bullied and my self esteem was low. But when I came here, everything changed. The staff welcomed me with open arms and minds, and the students were very respectful and kind to me. The school encouraged me to work hard because the teachers loved education and were flexible with me. There is so much you can do here, which only shows what your true potential is. The school taught me responsibility to tending my homework as well. My math teacher implanted the love of math in me at a young age, and I am ahead in class. The administration insures an environment where a person can fly. Thank you, New Horizon, and thanks to its tolerant and just staff. And thank you to the kind students who attend it. You have made a community that has helped me grow and will stay with me for all my life. Thank you.

I am a student at this school for 8 years and loved every minute of it. The teachers are considerate about the homework, care about you and your learning experience. The kids are very welcoming and loving when a new student came in. I Also the Islamic, Quranic, and Arabic program are very good and informative. All the teachers will help you until you have understand the concept. Also the school is very helpful and caring. For example when i fractured my leg they put immediate care to me. And now making it easier for us. I highly recommend to enroll your child here.

I had my boys with New Horizon School in Pasadena from Preschool until they graduated 8th grade. I can see the positive impact on their personalities and how they interact with others with pride of their identity. The school has caring staff that puts the wellness and education of the students their first priority. One of the many things I like about the school is that they always trying to improve and add programs that help the students excel.Thank you New Horizon School Pasadena!!

This school is one of the best that you can find in all of US. The school's cirriculam is very up to date. The teacher are always ready to adopt better and more effective teaching programs. For example this year the school started using a new Math program because they knew this new program would benefit us more. The teachers are so nice that a stranger can mistake them for mothers. All the teachers are well qualified and will not quit until the student understands the concept completely. Do not let the other comments change your views about this school.

We are so unbelievably happy with New Horizon School. This is the end of our fourth year and our daughter is so looking forward to next year. She began in Pre-K and that was such an amazing introduction to being in a classroom setting. The teacher was able to couch learning in a fun and safe environment. Kindergarten had her learning to read. First grade introduced her to the love of reading and advanced math! 2nd grade has her reading at a 5th grade level. The teacher is so great at interweaving the sciences, history, math, Arabic language, Islamic Studies .... somehow they all find an equal place in the everyday school day. Art and music play a large role at the school. The art teacher is wonderful and sweet and caring. She’s an excellent artist that all the kids adore. We have a new music teacher who has brought out some amazing talents this year. There is a large Peace garden on the main campus that has been a labor of love and boy did all that hard work pay off. It has become an outdoor classroom with a full time naturalist to tend the garden and to teach the kids about loving and cherishing God’s beauty. There is so much more to say. I could go on and on. This school is a hidden gem. Do your children the favor of a wonderful education and send them here!!
