Bishops was so amazing! My spouse and I came here to get our hair cut (and I also got my eyebrows waxed) after a lot of research, as we're both wary of new hair stylists due to bad experiences, and we wanted someone explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly. Bishops is definitely all of this!
Our wait times were short, you get a free drink (delicious sparkling water!), and everyone is so kind and friendly. Gio waxed my eyebrows and it was pain free - the first time ever for me! He also shaped it exactly as I wanted, so I'm so happy! Haley cut my hair after, and she is so sweet. She cut my hair both in the style I wanted, but also discovered some damage that I'm not sure my old stylist found and helped make sure to cut my hair to an actually healthy length. She also provided tips to avoid it from happening in a kind & nonjudgemental way.
Valeen cut my spouse's hair, and they only had good things to say about her! She listened well, and cut their hair perfect for their curls (which previous stylists haven't done the best at). For the first time in maybe years, their hair is better behaving with minimal help!
We'll definitely be coming back - the price is right, the music is great, and everyone is sweet!

I started getting my hair down here about 6 months ago and I’ve never had a better experience. I love my stylist Valeen, she is amazing and has been so helpful as I’ve been growing my out. Highly recommend!

Love love love this place. Will be coming back to see Gio. I got a simple haircut for long hair. Very basic stuff, and when I got home my boyfriend immediately complemented me even though I opted out of getting my hair styled.

Amazing service and impeccable barber skills by our stylist Gio! I brought my 77-year old Vietnam Vet father in here to make him pretty for my daughter’s school function and Gio knocked it out of the park. My dad felt so comfortable and taken care of. We had his hair washed, Gio cut his hair, shaved his face and neck then trimmed his mustache… my dad looked handsome for the first time in years! Thanks to the entire team at Bishops!

Im so grateful for the experience I had yesterday with Ryan F. taking care of my haircut/deep conditioning treatment! My hair was in pretty bad shape, as the last cut did me no favors and I was overdue for a trim. Ryan met me with no judgement, instead he was compassionate and willing to listen to what I was looking for. We worked together to come up with a plan for my hair. I got a deep conditioning treatment because my hair was really dry, then he got to work on the actual cut itself. Throughout the process Ryan made me feel comfortable and was really easy to talk to. He made me feel better about myself and my hair :) he took care in cutting and styling it and answered any questions I had throughout and after the process. I’m OBSESSED with the cut, it’s brought so much life back into my hair and I’m excited to experiment with styling it myself- Ryan was really helpful with answering questions I had regarding styling it in my own (I can only hope to make it look half as good myself as he did!). Bishops has been my go-to place for years now and I’ve never had a bad experience, they are lucky to have Ryan!

Requested style: Valeen has cut my child’s hair twice now. My child has gone in with two separate requested styles and Valeen has perfected them both!
Haley cut and conditioned my hair this last time I went in. I don’t usually request a style because my hair is aging and has a mind of its own. However, Haley also perfected my hair AND taught me a styling technique I can believe I never learned in all my years!

I was able to book a same day appointment so that was really convenient. Kat did a really good job cutting my hair. She cut my hair very patiently for almost an hour and did the face framing layers very nicely! I would highly recommend this place for women’s hair cut.

Been coming here since before the pandemmy after I got tired of people at Floyds giving me blank stares for requesting anything other than a high-n-tight (weird?). Seen many different stylists here over the years and my experiences ranged from "not too bad" to "this haircut has inflated my ego immensely". Anything I wasn't totally stoked on was easily remedied with a free fix.
My most recent visit was with Valeen who came highly recommended by my partner (who also loves this place). I showed her a picture I had saved on Pinterest for like a split second and she was able to translate the style to my weird-shaped head effortlessly. Sitting for her was a joy, we had a great chat about culture and style and then suddenly my hair looked better. This was one of those ego inflating cuts, I look good as hell right now.
The talented stylists and reasonable pricing at Bishop's are a great selling point (short cut and wash was less than $70 before tax/tip), but also one of their downsides. Just about every talented stylist eventually moves on to more premium shops/salons where their work is (rightfully) better compensated, but I am too broke (cheap) to follow them. So book Valeen while you can! Leave a good tip! I don't think she'll be there very long.

I’m really sad to leave this review bc everyone there was so nice and the vibes were great. But I don’t want anyone else to leave feeling humiliated like I was. Last week, I got the worst haircut of my life. There were random big (1”x1”) patches of hair in an area that was supposed to be shaven. It was supposed to be a symmetrical hair cut, but there were several inches of difference between the sides. It’s a short hairstyle so it was quite noticeable. And every line that was supposed to be straight was like a shark took a bite out of it. I showed the stylist a photo of what I wanted, and the cut was not recognizable. The stylist spent a lot of time on the cut which was more concerning than a rush job. I was shocked when I looked in the mirror, because I couldn’t believe anyone would make these judgment calls, let alone the cool stylish person doing my cut. I cried a lot and shaved my head later that night.
