Based on my recent experiences staying in various motels and hotels in Arcadia and East Pasadena area, this Best Western inn provides the most balance of comfort, convenience, and cost. If it weren't for the inadequate bathtub drain in my room and unsatisfactory experience with lobby counter staff, I would've bumped this review up to 5 stars based on the value. ・Price The $100~120 post-Covid price range for a single person was reasonable, considering that even bare-minimum budget motels in this area costs $90~100 a night. Note that there's another BW Royale Inn right next door which has the higher $150~200 price point, so be sure not to get these two BWs mixed up when booking. ・Room Very clean room, furnitures in good shape. Comfortable soft king-size bed. Room lighting is not too dim. Closet comes with many hangers, ironing board, clothes iron No pests spotted during 5-day stay. Nightstand lamps have outlets and USB ports. Functional air conditioner, small fridge, and cable TV. Wifi was at least adequate for watching 1080p Youtube live streams. Towels were soft and very well-stocked. Two tissue boxes, one by nightstand and one at the sink. Two trash cans. Bathroom was adequate and supplied with soap, conditioner, and shampoo. I might've been unlucky because the bathtub's drain in my room didn't work very well and kept getting clogged by my long hair strands. The drain also doesn't close fully, so the tub itself had trouble holding in bathwater. ・Amenities Free parking with ample spaces in the lot, though the more convenient side gate on the small street is closed at night. No vagrants or loud noises aside from street traffic. The complementary continental breakfast has decent selection: scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, cereals, orange juice, coffee, orange, apple, banana, yogurt, small pancake maker, toasted waffles and bread, packaged danishes and muffins. No bacon or ham. 2% milk only; no soy milk if you're lactose-intolerant like me. The breakfast staff was very friendly and attentive. She was the most pleasant staff member I interacted with at this inn. There was a sizable swimming pool, which I didn't use. Laundry room's washer and dryer charged very reasonable fees comparable to laundromats, and of course detergent costs extra. No exercise room, which I didn't need. ・Service Don't expect the lobby staff to voluntarily ask or tell you anything. If you want any sort of AAA discount or even BW's own membership offers, you must ask about them yourself. For whatever reason, I wasn't allowed to reserve multiple days in advance at the lobby counter and was repeatedly told at the counter I had to book everyday in order to extent my stay. It wasn't until this inn had no vacancy left that I found out I could've booked multiple days if I had done so through BW's website. Needless to say, I was quite irked that none of the lobby receptionists bothered to inform me of this even though I had already expressed my desire to stay longer. ・Location Good location near the 210 freeway, convenient for driving to Universal Studio or Rose Bowl. Somewhat close to the nearest Metro rail station that connects to Downtown LA. Several restaurant options within 15~30 mins walking distance. Within reasonable driving distance to Old Town Pasadena or Arcadia Mall and racetrack.

We were there during the holidays and it is a decent place, worth what you pay for. Parking right in front of the rooms. The location is good with everything nearby. Breakfast was great, they have a pancake machine, cheese omelette and whatever you want in a breakfast. The lady in the breakfast room was very cheerful and gave suggestions to see the Rose parade happening there. Overall a decent stay

I give 5-Google stars to this property. I needed a decent place to stay at a good price near downtown Pasadena. This fit the bill for all the criteria. Easy access to the 210, lots of shopping and restaurants in the immediate vicinity and quick drive to downtown. Room was surprisingly updated and very clean. Good set of TV channels. No issues with the bathroom or HVAC. Desk staff was pleasant to interact with. There was an initial issue on the BW side when trying to apply a gift card for payment, but it was all worked out by the staff before I checked out. This is the two story BW in Pasadena.

The room was clean, but if you are a black minority and you value privacy I would pass on this location. I worked overnight shifts and I was constantly bugged about housekeeping. They don’t honor and value guests’ preferences here. They impose the rules they want on guests and that’s backwards. I was too tired most days to have my sleep interrupted for housekeeping to come in and I preferred to do my own cleaning. On 1/16/24 I was approached in my car by a housekeeper knocking on my car window a little after 3:00 pm. This was intrusive and it shows you the degree to which you are constantly watched and followed and harassed after you clearly don’t want to be bothered. If a guest has a do not disturb sign on their door you shouldn’t try other methods to contact them such as following them to their car. I had to park on the side street during the day to avoid intrusiveness from staff and no guest should spend their hard earned money and have to go through all of that. I was given a note upon check in that says housekeeping is only available upon request due to COVID yet the manager made rules up as she went along saying housekeeping needed to be done every 7 days. She kept bugging me about taking my do not disturb sign down. Also nothing on the website says you can’t stay as long as you need to yet she made up rules about how they don’t do long term stays and how I should go across the street to the other Best Western property. A dollar is a dollar and it shouldn’t matter if it comes from a short term stay or a long term stay. I was also harassed by another guest in the shared microwave area and he attempted to exert dominance by opening the microwave during my cycle with my item in it and when I was irritated he stated we had to share the space when ironically he was the one who wasn’t respecting my boundaries. He kept harassing me even after I removed my food and told him to heat his food and leave me alone. He just kept talking and escalating the tension even though there was nothing else that needed to be said. I didn’t feel safe in the small shared microwave space with men coming in behind me. It’s inconvenient to share one microwave with grown men who fight women over microwave space.

The absolute WORST customer service from a hotel ever. Jo the General Manager was rude and incompetent. No help whatsoever and don’t expect any type of compensation from any of their wrongdoing. The breakfast is outdated along with the cheap decor. This was a last resort and the LAST time I’m ever staying here. Don’t trust the reviews. Go on Yelp or travel advisor instead.

So I first want to say the service at this Best Western was excellent. My wife and I are sensitive to strong cleaning smells and they took the effort to clean the room without scented cleaning materials. Very accommodating to say the least. The room was also quite big and nicely furnished for a simple Inn.The location is not great though. So much so that when we arrived after 10pm we had to wait outside at a checkin window that had almost an inch of what looked like bullet glass. What the fudge! Newsom has seriously flushed California down the toilet, crime is everywhere, even in Pasadena apparently.Rooms: The rooms are large and nicely furnished in my humble opinion.Safety: Not the best neighborhood hence the 1 inch of bullet proof glass at the checkout window. But they do have extensive security cameras.

Nice bang for your buck! Cleaning staff are on top of it! Breakfast is really good, quite surprising actually. Wonderful surprise having such a nice breakfast. Open feel. Pool and hot tub. Can't ask for more.

Honest review, the room is great. Only sometimes you heard some noise from the main street. Good sleep.

I have to say, I was quite surprised that I'd liked it here as much as I did. The Service was really good, Amenities were what I thought. My only complaint is the floors are filthy in the room. I had to wash my feet every time I got up for anything. The beds were a bit again for the price it is a good deal.

This place was pretty cool actually, a bit overpriced which is why I could not give it another star but for the most part a great stay. Hotel staff is there if you need them and leave you alone when you dont. Rooms are decent bathroom a bit small but functional.

The property seems very old. Not much of any renovation done. It had a weird smell when we first went in. Though we didn't get bitten by a bed bug, I saw a sign of them on the sheet. The breakfast was not so great but was nott so bad either.I would pass this hotel if I visit pasadena area again.

Clean, comfortable beds, great shower, friendly staff, breakfast was advertised as “continental “ but really was a full-on great spread. The pool & jacuzzi looked clean and well kept although we didn’t have time to use it. Loads of restaurants close by.Our 1st floor Room door opened up to the parking lot close to our parked car. This is a plus when you’re traveling for weeks and get tired of unpacking and packing the car when it’s parked far from your room.
