Very rude staff when asked about surrendering my cat told me that if I have a kid I should keep my cat and that I “can’t afford” the $5,000 surrender fee which is just outrageous.

We were looking to adopt a kitten in need, and this place looks to be the place to do it! I filled the adoption forms " basically a background check ok" to be denied due to having a young child in my family! Are you kidding me! Instead of just denying someone for the most ludicrous reason how about you do what your program is set out for putting a helpless animal with a deserving family why don't you do a in-person interview and see where the animal will be going! This place is so tied up in politics that it forgets it is a shelter! If I could give 0 stars I would!!!

Denied, we own our home, two income family, have cats and one loving senior dog, they all get fed blue buffalo, have toys and our time galore, and this year we're completing putting in a two bedroom w/ hallway cat run on the wall, guess it wasn't enough and wasn't picked up on the "extensive application".To fill it out and then receive a denial letter through email with no reason why, was disheartening. The application has areas you tell all past animals you had / have what they passed from, at first I can see why on some common sense questions but as you go along, it seems extreme as you have to fill out if something happens to you who will take over the cats, house checks, and family reference number, etc. Right away you get the feel they don't trust / have their opinion on who is worthy, by their standards. If you look at the reviews on Google & Yelp, most positive reviews are from people just visiting not actual adoption stories, BIG RED FLAG. For our family who recently lost a beloved cat and were at a time in our life after the loss to get another cat we thought the cat house would be a good choice,it wasn't. At the end I recommend this place only as a "tourist" or "visit" stop. The board or whoever is proof reading the application submissions is reading with distrust is their heart already. It's unfortunate when so many cats and dogs need a good home. Take a good look at all the reviews in Yelp and Google that were denied, now add that and a lot more of families who didn't speak up......imagine those #'s of families/people who could've adopted and made a difference in an animal's life. My advice is don't take the time scrolling through the available adoptions because at the end of the day it comes down to one email and you don't want your kids or you heartbroken if you had your heart set on the ones you wanted to meet, see, check if they were a good fit with your family, you may not even get the opportunity. We're off to a real adoption agency!

Business with Cat House on the Kings has been by far the most emotionally draining experience I’ve ever had. Before deciding where my family and I wanted to adopt a cat from, I did my research and read through their site. The FAQ’s, testimonials, how to adopt, tours, etc. I called the cat house on the Kings, to ask about a specific FAQ that I saw. It was the policy stating ‘We do not adopt small kittens to families with young children.’ When I called to inquire about that the lady was so incredibly rude. She didn’t even let me ask the question. She assumed the question I was going to ask yelling, ‘I wouldn’t let my 10 year old be responsible for a cat but maybe someone has a 6 year old that is responsible’ she kept going on. Then when she was done yelling at me, I said ‘I wasn’t talking about the age of children, I was talking about the age of the cats. What is considered a kitten? A few weeks old, months, a year? She giggled and said ‘oh kittens would be any cat younger than 6 months’ I said oh okay because we’re looking to adopt and I want to make sure before we fill out an application that we would be able to adopt a cat from your adoption center.’ She was nicer after that but still a very rude first impression. So, when we decided to fill out an application we got the message ‘we will get back to you within 3-5 days.’ When we realized it would take that much time to get an answer, we made an appointment (2/17/24) to go see the cats in person. My five year old has been wanting a cat and my one year old loves them too. So, when we were there my daughter fell in love with a kitty named Mary #25079. She would’ve been the perfect cat for us. Mary followed her and loved the kids petting her. My oldest a 16 year old also really liked her. She was perfect for us. Mary wasn’t one of the cats we had initially filled an application out for, so I asked the girl up in the front if I need to fill one out specifically for her or if the application I had already filled out would be fine. She told me to go ahead and fill out another application because it was for a different cat. So, I did. She also advised me to reply to my initial email and let them know that there was a new application. The next day, on Sunday, 2/18/24, I received the email stating that our application had been denied. I completely understand that they do not have to give a reason. But given that I was advised the day before the denial email, to submit another application for Mary, I thought maybe we were denied because we were no longer interested in the other cats we had originally listed. I replied back to the email to gain clarity and I still have not gotten a response. I am only assuming they denied both applications, even though we have all the means to financially take care of an animal. The reason I say this was emotionally draining is because my five year old kept asking when we were going to bring Mary home. We’ve had a conversation about how some people don’t really want to give up things they love and that some people are selfish, which I 100% agree that the owner of this place is. She has over 700 cats on her property. She’s a hoarder. She has people ready to adopt cats but is unwilling to let them go. She gets people to donate to her so she can keep up her crazy cat hoarding tendencies. If she really believed in saving cats she’d want to find homes for the cats. We gave this place a chance and had hope to be bringing a pet into our living home even being rude to over the phone. It’s very sad that this place claims that they have ‘too’ many cats that need homes, but then deny people for no reason. We hope we can find an adoption center that is more welcoming and where we can adopt a cat for our family.

They kill there and abuse them. They fire their employees for no reason and the manager gets away with anything. There employees are rude and bully’s and harassing others. Also they leave dead animals and they leave the cages a mess and it smells and they never provide stuff for the employees to use to clean of feed the animals so some employees have to pay out of pocket to provide for them they don’t care for there animals and they charge hella to adopt so that’s why they don’t care for there employees or animals.

The place is an excellent ground for the cats. Lynea is doing all the right things for the cats, including setting up separate sections for Felv cats, for senior cats, cats requiring quarantine first before they join the tribe. I hope Lynea gets the financial support she needs each year.

Blatantly attempted to scam an elderly sick woman who needed a place to put her cats because she can barely take care of her own health by asking her to pay them $5,000 per cat she was surrendering. Never in my life could I believe my ears and this poor woman was so sweet and trying so hard to justify the reason behind it.The amount of cruelty you have to have in your heart to even attempt to take advantage of people and not even that, but an extremely kind elderly woman who just wanted a good place for her kitties is absolutely horrid. Makes me sick to my stomach

Just adopted this handsome guy yesterday. The ladies that helped us at the blackstone site were very friendly and knowledgeable. The minute they put him in my hands he started making biscuits. He hasn't stopped yet. Working overtime.

We love the Cat House on the Kings! Everyone we have encountered there has been extremely compassionate, considerate, helpful in the adoption process, and after. We can't thank them enough for enriching our family twice. We highly recommend them to others looking to adopt new family members. Our story: We found the Cat House on the Kings in 2006 after we lost a fury friend to thyroid cancer at 12 years old. We had 2 cats that grew up together (100% indoors), and the one left behind was grief stricken and lonely for his pal. He was also 12 years old. We lived in CA at the time and found the Cat House on the Kings, scheduled a visit, and found the love of our life there. Actually, he found us and wouldn't let go of me until we took him home. 6 months later, we went back to find him a life-long friend because our other cat wasn't a spring chicken anymore but did live another 4 wonderful years. All our boys moved with us many times, even over seas to Germany, and after 17 years together we lost our love to sinus cancer, and his life-long friend could not be consoled, none of us could, it was devastating. We live in WA State now and decided to arrange another adoption at the Cat House on the Kings in June 2023 and make the long trek down to CA because we were fortunate to strike gold there once, we hoped we would again, and we did. We adopted 2 beautiful 11 week old flamepoint Siamese brothers, and we all absolutely adore them, including our 16 year old FP Siamese, who is now acting young and frisky again. Thank you again, Cat House!!!Our opinion: Because our boys are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, have regular checkups with their Vet/Dentist, and are 100% indoors, we know we will have many, many, many happy healthy years together. We decided decades ago to keep our cats 100% indoors after losing too many to cars, predators, and poisoning. We realized we were unfit to care for cats if we couldn't or didn't provide a safe environment, healthcare, good diet, lots of toys, scratchers/trees/condos, and all the attention they needed to be happy indoors. We did what we had to do to provide the best life for our cats, and it enriched our lives enormously for more years than we imagined was possible. I encourage others to do the same. You'll regret it if you don't.

Every time I've called this place they were never available to accept any kittens. I'll give them a few stars because at least they are an organization that helps save animals so that's always good. But every time I've called most people who answer the phone have attitude and are not willing to help or really offer that much information to get help. They should offer more resources and assistance for people trying to help other animals. However the drive there is beautiful very scenic route and the cats live on a beautiful property I thought that part was amazing.

I have never talked to someone so rude in my life just now! I’m not one to usually report but she was crazy lol. Definitely would not recommend this place. I was told off because my cat got pregnant and we wanted to do the right thing and give out kittens to a great place and get our girl fixed I don’t not know that was a crime WOW…. Literally screamed at me and hung up..
