I mailed my friend their Burning Man ticket from this location and the post office lost it. Unforgivable

The post office here is usually a miss (sometimes a hit), depending on who and how many people are working there. The middle-aged Asian lady with the chubby face (I'm not racist, I'm Asian) is vile!
I tried to ship my package, and she claimed that it was oversized without showing me the limits until I repeatedly asked her. Then she rejected my package because she said that it was oversized. I did not think that it was oversized, so I ran home, grabbed my tape measure, and lo and behold, it was not oversized!! I came back, she tried to reject it again, I told her that I had my tape measure with me and told her I could measure my package right then and there and then she decided to accept it without even asking me to measure it. I'm pretty sure she was just being petty.
I've only had pleasant and excellent experiences with the young Hispanic woman.
This place needs to hire more workers--there's always a line and only one or at most two people working there.

Efficient, professional, patient, and respectful service every time -- I've never had any issues at this post office and would highly recommend this USPS location & the team!

Sadly they were very rude and unhelpful. They tried to get me to buy packaging and wouldn’t accept my own. Offered me to buy a $10 box for a very light soft item I had already packaged myself. When I said that wasnt generally the rule the lady told me I can go to somewhere else then and blew me off. Bummer as it’s my local town where I grew up and I was as friendly as could be :/
I will be driving somewhere else I guess

Been here a few times and have never had any issues using their services. The staff have always been helpful and respectful, even though sometimes they seem like they don't want to people. I totally understand because I don't like peopling a lot. They have always provided me with solidly reliable mailing services. The architecture looks like it's the original building for whatever it used to be. Parking can be difficult because they are downtown with limited street parking. They do have the 30-minute limited parking in the front, which I've lucked out on being available a couple times.

they have no idea what they are doing. the staff gave us an extremely hard time on mailing letters and they are not familiar with the product they carry. The stuff refused to explain the charge and didn't follow the rules usps stated on their own website. She refused to serve us after we made a reasonable argument about her charge.

This location has given me a hard time about a number of things, last year it was about a Brand New tablet I had returned there that nobody could find, then….. paying for an additional P O Box because they could not let me have access to my old one unless I had I’d verification . Have had the same P.O. Box now for nearly a decade and had to do a lot of extra foot work, calling customer service to get a refund on the extra box I had to purchase to make sure my mail for my business, would not be rerouted. NOW I am outside the post office reading my mail and I notice how on Rulli the front grass and landscape is here at this location. I don’t know if it is the cities job to come by and maintain it or the post office itself, but it really takes away the beauty of the city of Palo Alto you very seldom see underground yard, salons or businesses in this vicinity, but this post office is wreaking neglect in the front so I can just imagine what goes on inside.

I shipped a few packages express delivery which weren't delivered on time. Since they say their shipments are guaranteed, I went to the post office for a refund, and was told that they had no money to refund me, they had no money order, and they couldn't refund my credit card. They said I needed to find another post office that has money to refund me. It is ridiculous that they have a money-back guarantee, but then literally cannot give a refund to a customer. The woman who was behind the counter just didn't want to help in a way, and it was horrible customer service.

They always throw packages around after receiving them. I’m sure that causes tens of thousands dollars worth of damage every year!

So lets face it, going to the post office is up there with say a root canal. However, this particular post office at least has some interesting architecture to make up for any wait. The downtown Palo Alto post office was built during the Great Depression. The postal service in that time frame would seek out local architects. In this case Palo Alto native Birge Clark was used who also designed many of the well loved and prominent (still to this day) building in the city. The white stucco building is in the Mediterainian Style with a Spanish style curved shingle roof. The interior is also quite nice with soaring ceilings and the old school P.O. boxes lining the walls. Beyond that it is a fully functional post office and like with most, sometimes its a breeze other times a nightmare depending on how many clerks are manning the front and how poorly prepared the people in line in front of you are.
