The seller is a very friendly and respectful gentleman. The arrangement of the goods can be better than this. Overall it is good.

After a good experience I took my graded MS 62 1909 S VDB in for sale. I asked for $1650. Same price as an MS 60. He examined the coin & declared it was over graded & merely an “AUC” & offered $1400. He claimed he wasn’t trying to rip me off & suggested I get it re graded. Really? Does anyone believe he would have sold that for anything less than the graded value of MS 62? I took it to a competitor & they agreed to $1650 over the phone! Be careful what he tells you when buying your stuff.

I've been a semi regular visitor and buy/sell coins here. Excellent customer service and I really appreciate the sharing of info as I'm still somewhat new to collecting and gold coins. Thank you

Give him credit for operating a store with a few of them left anymore. With that being said the inventory of stamps and coins is quite limited. Stamps are in boxes placed all over the floor and in envelopes. Did not see any collectible stamps of value so if that your interest save yourself a visit. The coin selection was sparse nothing special random old coins no gold or any tpg (third party graded coins} .They have a full case of ancient coins but it cannot be seen because the top of the display case is stained yellow . Not much in the way of coin supplies just a few boxes of coin tubes and lots of cardboard coin holders no books etc. If in area take a look but NOT worth a drive to check it outl TIP-To get a good idea of value of US Coins www.numismedia.com look for Price Guides -Collector FMV prices will give you a good idea regarding worth Link where you can check your coins and what grade it should since that is what determines value. www.pcgs.com/photograde Match the coin with picture US coins only. Lastly site tells you what your coins (bullion) value is currently www.coinflation.com

If you would’ve taken your time and looked at some of the things I had you wouldn’t be getting such a horrible review

Treasure Island Coins & Stamps is a great store for anyone interested in coins and stamps, and its owner (Rudy) is a delightful man who is an expert at both coins and stamps, though foreign stamps and ancient coins are his favorite. He has been active with youth groups (e.g., Boy Scouts) who are interested in either coins or stamps. Rudy is also very active as an appraiser of stamp and coin collections for estates or for individuals just selling collections. I know from several personal experiences that, if he is interested in the material you are selling, he will pay you the full market price, much fairer than most dealers. If you are selling pre-1965 silver coins, for instance, Rudy has been paying 15 times face currently, a narrow discount to the ask price. All that said, I would warn anyone looking to sell stamp collections that most stamps (and collections) have very little value. For instance, virtually all US stamps issued prior to 1940 have more value as postage than collector value. I just point this out because often Rudy has to educate potential sellers about this. Based again on personal experience, Rudy was able to purchase some Chinese stamps from me (sold for a friend) that had substantial value at a very fair market price. In another instance, he recommended that I use a particular auction house to get a better price than he could offer. The flip side of the deeply depressed market for collector stamps is that one can put together a beautiful collection at a very, very reasonable cost, and Rudy maintains an extensive inventory of US and foreign stamps. I would recommend Rudy (and his son) and Treasure Island Coins and Stamps without any qualification.

The owner is rude and unapologetic. Charges more than APMEX and then gets agitated when asked to at least match with APMEX. Whatever... not at my experience.

I received great information on coins I brought in. Lots of different coins to look at, a bit chaotic inside. I left feeling like I got the knowledge that I was looking for.

A nice and very knowledgeable older gentleman helped me with an appraisal.. Unfortunately there wasn't anything of any real value in the stamps I brought in, but he was kind enough to explain about the stamps and why they were only worth face value.

Rudy has no helping hand. Virtually he is alone in handing his customers. Price is reasonable. But, display of philatelic items is not so well-organized.
