Sur La Table has GREAT cooking and baking classes as well. We just attended a croissant making class with Chef Shabeen and helper John who had the 3 hours fly by with amazing preparation and instruction! PLUS we left with delicious caramelized onion & gruyere cheese croissants and pain au chocolats!

I had a cooking class with Elaine and she was amazing! She created an educational class that also allowed us to be really hands on—from prepping ingredients to letting us tweak the recipe to fit our palettes. Although, I do wish there were more advanced classes for those that already know the basics but just want to learn new techniques or more complicated recipes. All in all, I would definitely recommend taking a class with Elaine.

Had so much fun taking a cooking class here with Andrea. The other students didn’t show so it ended up being a private class for my mom and I. You get 10% off in the store on the day of the class.

I always buy two of everything cause when you need it again you go back and it’s out of season or sold out.

i’ve taken two cooking classes at two Sur La Table locations and they have both been great. This time I took a French pastry class where we made croissants and kouign amann from scratch. I didn’t know it could be done in 3 hours but we did it and they turned out beautifully. Chef Andrea and her crew made the process really easy and she explained the steps in simple terms. It was really helpful and the pastries were delish.

We had so much fun learning French cooking with Chef Andrea and her team. I came with a small group as an experiential gift and it was more than we could have asked for. Not only was she very funny, we learned some quick, but fancy recipes and had a great meal! I’m using my new knife skills to this day! I highly recommend a Sur La Table cooking class as a GREAT gift idea and if you can get ANDREA, well, that’s a bonus!

This is the best place to find great cookware, specially french brands. But last time I went to purchase a coffee machine, the seller was some kind of coffee snob that made me feel ashamed of buying an entry level machine. This was not an enjoyable experience.I've been drinking espresso daily for 30+ years, had various machines from entry level to fairly expensive, please respect that I just need a no fuss espresso and a $300 machine can perfectly serve this need. Heck, even a 150 Euros Dedica does this perfectly fine in Europe.

I had the WORST experience here with the cooking class they host through a 3rd party app. After reaching out to them and upper management, they did absolutely nothing to resolve it. I will never shop there again.

Took the “Chef’s Table” class for a celebration with my partner, start to finish it was a disaster.Small kitchen was filled with 16 people. Due to the sheer fact that there wasn’t enough space to accommodate everyone, we had to form groups of 8 to make chocolate soufflé and the only opportunity each of the attendee had in actually making the soufflé was taking turns in stirring a pot or putting some ingredients in a bowl 20 seconds at a time. It felt like we were watching people cook rather than actually taking part in it. If the space of the kitchen is limited, maybe the organizers should consider reducing the size of the class, rather than trying to sell as many classes as possible.Same with the fennel salad- 8 people were supposed to make the salad, and as the recipe was just mixing the pre-cut fennel with olive oil and herbs, only one person ended up doing it and the rest of the 7 attendees just watched her. My only contribution to the salad was putting salt and pepper. It’s quite astonishing to see the organizers didn’t feel to need to give enough ingredients for groups of 4(not ideal but would have been the best case in this situation). What kind of cooking class would make 8 grown-ups do one single fennel salad? Now we know.As we moved to making risotto and scallops, the groups got smaller, though the chaotic organization of the whole class got worse. The recipe and instructions weren’t printed out. We were told that the recipes were emailed to us, as if its safe, feasible or sanitary for the attendees to use their phones and follow the recipe on small screens, when trying to sear scallops on a hot pan. Or touch the screen of the phone which contains millions of bacteria to go on to touch the utensils that everybody uses? Is it that hard to bring print out recipes and give it to the attendees, so that at least they could have some peace of mind when 16 people are cooking at the same time? I guess it was.As there was only two stoves available, the two groups were given portable stoves which affected the quality of the dishes we were making, especially when we needed to sear the scallops. Making things worse, the staff kept giving mixed instructions that conflicted with the chef’s, which was extremely frustrating. The chef would come and increase the heat, a minute later the staff would decrease it, saying it was too hot. At the end our scallops weren’t seared as they were supposed to, and they were swimming in liquid. The chef would tell us to scrap the bottom of the pan as we were making the sauce for the scallops, the staff would say the opposite - telling that it was unnecessary. All this was happening while 4 strangers were trying to cook together around a tiny stove. I’d recommend the staff and the cook to have a quick conversation before a class starts so they don’t give out conflicting information to the attendees. On top of all of that, while the staff had the attitude of following kitchen sanitation diligently, they gave us a dusty pan. When they realized that, they failed to apologize. Maybe before going around the room with an intimidating attitude with a packet of hair ties in their hands and asking female attendees to tie their hairs before even welcoming them into the class, they should fulfill their primary responsibility and make sure the kitchen equipment is properly cleaned before classes begin. When we told them that the pan had burnt residue after we cooked the scallops and expressed our concern as a group, the staff told us that we should work with what we have, because they didn’t have any other pan? A cooking and dining supplies store filled with shelves of pans doesn’t have enough pans in the kitchen? Very hard to comprehend the absurdity of this.Overall, it was a waste of our money and more importantly our time. To those considering taking a class, either watch a youtube video and cook food at the comfort of your home with clean utensils or go to a restaurant and enjoy a good meal. There is a high chance you’d have a better experience.

Sur La Table is one of the best places in the Bay Area to take baking classes at. The chefs are fun and extremely knowledgeable and I benefited a lot from seeing lot of techniques in person. I highly recommend Sur La Table baking classes.

Overall, we were extremely disappointed with our experience at Sur La Table's cooking class. The combination of a poorly organized booking process, an underqualified chef, and insufficient resources for participants resulted in a frustrating experience that fell short of our expectations for a special birthday celebration. We hope Sur La Table addresses these issues to improve future classes for others.

My wife and I took the Thai date night cooking class which was taught by Andrea. There were 15 people in the class. Andrea was fantastic providing very useful hands on instruction and valuable cooking tips. The class was about 2 hours and the time went by fast. So much food there was plenty left over. Would definitely recommend.

Took the pizza cooking class and was underwhelmed by the lack of actual prep and cooking being done by us. We were given pre made dough which was fine given it takes time to rise but we didn’t even get to take a crack at making dough ourselves to take home for later. As far as toppings I was disappointed by the lack of toppings offered. There was one 4 cheese pizza and one pepperoni pizza being made. Very disappointing. The dough was also not very good. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good. Tasted like school cafeteria pizza crust which was sad. I was expecting a ton of fresh veg toppings and all of that stuff like the advertisement on the website stated with different toppings. There was an option to do a community pizza to share with everyone which had more toppings options but the actual pizzas we made were depressing. I would think with the amount of “instacart” deliveries (3) that came to the class while it was in session that they could have ordered fresh veg toppings. I drove 1 hour and 45 minutes to take this class, can’t say I would come again. What a waste of $69 bucks. Wouldn’t recommend. Also had to ask for an apron 3x before I got one. Might as well just print out recipes from the internet and do it myself and save $69 and gas for the drive. The pizza also looked nothing like the pizza on the advertisement, so all around misleading. Wanted to make a new hobby out of taking these classes monthly, but not worth it at all. Definitely an epic fail on Sur la Tables part seeing that in one full class they make $1260 for this one. But can’t afford anything.
