No we don’t want a $7K bicycle! Yes we want a decent bicycle at a lower price! As customers, we don’t appreciate snooty sarcastic comments and an eye roll (literally!) on our queries when we walk into a store with hopes of finding and possibly purchasing an item. Yes, there’s plenty available out there. Maybe not in your shop! Thank you very much!

I just brought home a Trek FX 2 Disk Stagger Gen 3 from Summit Bicycles in Palo Alto. Alain was great. He lifted multiple bikes off of an upper rack for me to try out. He let me ride each one. Alain wanted to make sure that I was getting the bike that felt just right to me. He was so knowledgeable, patient and friendly. I bought it around 4:30 pm on a Monday. I had some things I wanted added to the bike and I wanted different tires. Alain told me the bike would be ready the next day, Tuesday, in the afternoon. I told him the traffic would be terrible in the afternoon and that Wednesday morning would be fine with me. He surprised me and got the bike ready for pickup on Tuesday at 11:30 am. Such fantastic customer service! I couldn't be happier. I would really recommend Summit Bicycles in Palo Alto.

Bad customer service, just so rude!

The staff is very rude, and they will take money from your deposit for their own mistakes. Received a bike with no headlight, and was told that this was "impossible" and I would be charged $50, even when shown proof.

Really poorly run business. I got a bike through my work, and they took 3 weeks for it to be "ready to pickup". When I went in to pick it up, they didn't know where it was. I told the manager to cancel my subscription, as at this point it was already 4 ish weeks into the summer and it wasn't worth it. He replied that he did cancel it and refund the $320 I paid.
3 weeks later I get another charge from them for the bike subscription. When I check my bank statements I see that he didn't refund anything. Finally he refunded me after I sent him another email. Overall very poorly run business, would not recommend someone to use this place.

VERY DISHONEST.
Took my bike in for shifting problems. They called me back a couple days later and said I needed a new spring, so I approved the fix.
Picked up my bike and they charged me $289 for the ENTIRE shifter, plus the cost of labor on top of it, although I never approved swapping the whole shifter.
BTW, the same shifter can be bought online for $170.

I called them in advance to ask about the price and schedule of a service to my bike, they gave me a price and told me it will take 2 days. I arrived at the shop 30 min later and they told me that it will actually take 3 days, and if I want this done in 2 they charge double. The guy didn't deny telling me it would take 2 days on the phone, he just claimed he became 'fully booked' since I talked to him 30 min ago.
A very bad way of doing business, wasted my time.

Rented 2 bikes to visit around Stanford Uni with a colleague. Got a bit lost and came back after the closing hours. The shop was closed and luckily for us, the staff were in the restaurant next door and they were super friendly. They handled the bike return and we managed to catch our flight home that evening! Phew!

Need to work on their customer service. Called asking about my bike in their shop and the guy I spoke to wouldn’t even write a note for their service folks to give me a call back. The guy I dropped my bike off with was super nice though.

Both of the brakes failed within a year of light use. Brought in the bike for repair under warranty. Surprised with $90 installation fee when I picked it up a few days later! I would have installed myself should I have been told upfront. Be aware.

We went to the store at Palo Alto. Alex was very patience explaining to us about everything related to bike. It's true fixing bike in this area is expensive, but you have to pay the proper labor rate per hour for them to survive living in this area. So there's no way around. As long they deliver the service, you just have to pay the Palo Alto rate.
