I went in with a broken derailleur on an old Schwinn 21 speed. They had me out the door and on the way and under a half hour. They were really nice and professional.

I doubt there is a better service than what these guys provide. My experience buying and upgrading my MTB was great.

As good as it gets for Mountain View, CA, as we're now lacking bike shops unless we cross the border into Palo Alto. That said, Mike's is a great resource for us in the area!

A few months ago my buddy's new bike fell off his roof rack. Something happened to the brakes as they were rubbing against the rotor. My buddy is new to cycling and not mechanically inclined so he brought here to get it fixed. I would have helped him adjust the brake pad, bit was out of town for an extended time. This shop charged him for a number of unnecessary repairs, including replacing the front and rear pads (the rear was not rubbing!), flushing the brake fluid, light "truing" both wheels (I think all they did was check them), etc. As mentioned the bike was relatively new, with only a few hundred miles. The service manager told him these were all necessary! Also, I have called this store a few times regarding a new bike. Be prepared to be put on hold for an extended time while the sales person searches. In addition I had questions regarding stem changes and options for a new purchase. The sales people do not know much more than what you or I are able to find on a web search, which is pretty limited for certain brands (Giant, Cannondale). This shop just feels like getting service from a car dealer. If you can, support some of the smaller shops that provide better service and expertise. If you must get your bike repaired there, go with a friend who is knowledgeable.

Dishonest business. My husband and I went to this store on 12/10. He picked a bike which they needed to transport from another store. As we paid for the bike, we happily found an ongoing Christmas promotion at the check-out desk. They acknowledged that our $700+ payment fell in the bucket for a $75 or $70 store credit which we will be able to use until February. And it'll be available when we pick up the bike. I didn't understand why not get the store credit when we paid (shown clearly on the promotion card) but we thought it's fine. One less card to carry in the wallet - great! Trusting the store like most stores, we didn't take a photo of the promotion card. On 12/28, when my husband went to pick up the bike, he chose a few accessories worth ~$100. However when checking out, they first denied the existence of the promotion and so the credit. Then said the promotion was over (true, except that the purchase was made when it's valid). And eventually after shown the receipt with the payment date, they claimed that we only qualified for $25 store credit and deducted that amount "as a courtesy." We didn't buy the bike for the promotion, so we still took it. However a dishonest store that abuses customers' trust and denies its own promotion merely a week ago is truly disappointing and untrustworthy. This was the first time we buy at Mike's and probably the last time.

Disappointing Bicycle Repair Experience I recently had a frustrating and disappointing experience with a bike repair that I entrusted to Mikes Bikes at Stanford. In September 2023, I took my bike to the shop for a bottom bracket replacement, for which they charged me $169, and a crankset replacement, costing $289, plus labor. The total bill was steep, but I expected a smooth and efficient service in return. After patiently waiting for a month, I finally received my bike back and embarked on a 100-mile ride. Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived as I immediately noticed something was off. There was a significant amount of drag, making the ride unpleasant and strenuous. Upon returning the bike to the shop for a follow-up, I was dismayed to find that after another month of waiting, no progress had been made. Frustrated with the lack of results, I decided to seek help elsewhere. Despite attempts to remedy the issue by adjusting various components, the drag persisted. In a last-ditch effort, I returned the bike to the original shop where the repairs were initially conducted. It was only then that I was informed that a crucial piece was missing, potentially removed by someone else. This revelation was disconcerting, especially considering the stringent requirement that any further alterations must be approved by the shop or they would disclaim responsibility. As of November, the missing part was promised to be ordered and installed promptly. However, it is now the last day of 2023, and I am still awaiting the resolution of this ongoing ordeal. Overall, my experience with Mikes Bikes at Stanford has been characterized by delays, poor communication, and a lack of accountability. The exorbitant fees paid for the initial repairs only added to my disappointment. I would caution others to carefully consider their options before entrusting their bike repairs to this establishment, as my experience has left me with a sense of frustration and regret.

Picked up a $12k bike today and was told that there’s no discount on accessories with a new bike purchase. This on top of waiting an hour after I was told the bike was ready. Gonna promptly peel the “Mikes Bikes” sticker off.

Poor attitude and customer service. Went in here today knowing exactly what I wanted but walked out not buying. The model I wanted was right in front of me but any further questions were met with complete lack of interest. Advice and customer service are at a premium here. Plenty of other options in the market

Great selection of bikes and accessories. They can even transfer bikes from other stores if you want to test ride. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Always willing to answer questions.

I had a really great experience at the store with Lalo, while shopping for an electric bike. Very professional, available to answer all my questions and explain the pro and cons of different bikes. I tested a few of them before making a decision and I felt like I made the good one. Great staff.

The staff is very competent and friendly, though you sometimes need to wait a while if you have a question. However, I was pretty disappointed today when I ordered replacement spokes, and after they finished cutting them I was presented with a price that is literally twice as high as it was last time I came in, about 6 weeks ago. It's now over 7 USD per spoke. I do not think a sudden 100% price raise is fair, especially without telling the customers about it beforehand.

front employees with 0 knowledge. What the point of having a shop vs web, if you don’t provide experienced advice? Next bike shop closure 3,2,1..
