DO NOT BUY ON MERCARIMercari customer support straight up told me that they will not help me with an order that was never delivered. I bought a $250 book set that was marked as delivered by USPS at 10am but I work from home in front of the window that faces my mailboxes and the mailperson was not there at that time. I went outside and at the time of delivery to check anyways and there was no package. The USPS mailperson came by at 7pm that night, no where near the 10am the tracking claims, and still they did not have a package for me. I went on their app to get help and the app instructed me to contact the seller. I did so and the seller never responded. I also waited a few days in case the package showed up and it did not. When I called Mercari about this they refused to help me and refused to escalate my case despite the order never having been delivered. They will not give me a refund or offer me account credit. I have filed a report with the better business bureau. This is unacceptable, I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on this platform but the second one thing goes wrong they’re willing to lose my business. They did not even care when I said I was considering doing a chargeback because this seemed fraudulent. Mercari’s customer service sucks, they do not help their buyers even though we are the ones giving their business our money. Do not support a company that fails to protect its customers and actively financially hurts them by keeping the money when you dont get the purchased product.

Mercari's product return policy is a scam. The seller sent worn merchandise advertised as like new and Mercari did not stand behind their buyer warranty. The clothing also had a strong chemical odor. The merchandise was not as described and Mercari's return process is intentionally difficult as they asked for repeats of the same pictures and provided a bot response of "return-denied". The seller used catalog photos with no close ups and we sent Mercari repeat close-ups of fraying, piling and pulled seams.

A mediocre organization with terrible policies. While the app appears minimal and sleek, mercari’s fees and fine print is awful. They force sellers to house their sales in a balance and maintain control of the sellers money until you pay a $2-$3 fee to relinquish the balance, or maintain a $10 balance. I made the decision to buy something off of mercari from a sale I made, resulting in a sub-$3 balance. I found out about this policy only after my purchase. Should have done a payout and them made my purchase, but mercari only tells you this after the problem arises. After I make enough to transfer my balance, I am leaving mercari as a buyer and a seller. Its sick how money hungry this company is.

A very bad experience from the first purchase. I ordered a small item and it was due to arrive last week. The tracking showed it was in my city Buffalo out for local delivery. Then suddenly the tracking showed it was rerouted to Florida 1200 miles away. Why, I have no idea. I have tried to contact UPS to get resolution. That was a runaround with an automated system to get redirected to Mercari for refund or to file a claim and then hung up on. I was never able to speak to a live person. I tried to reach out to Mercari and it was even worse. I was never able to reach anyone and was told there was no live support for my area available. I called several different times and the same message and click. I was just starting to list items to sell on Mercari and decided to delete them all due to the reviews and poor customer service. Their fees are really high for such poor customer support and service. I would not trust them based on that. I am not sure I would get paid and that my buyers would be happy based on everything I have experienced so far. I don’t blame the seller in this situation since delivery is out of their hands, but if I filed a claim they would be charged I am sure somehow. That’s not fair to them. They did not do anything wrong.There are other places with established reputations and I would feel better using those sites.

Hello,As a buyer and seller on Mercari I would never attack someone’s reputation out of anger. If the item you want is not available at a price you want .1. Don’t leave a review that attacks someone’s reputation of character after you purchase the item anyway.2. Tell the truth when leaving a review , there are both sides to a story.3. Be patient , there is nothing anyone can do if the postal service is delayed. Or you mistakenly say you did not receive your item, but it was there.4. I have seen some nasty reviews. Defamation of character is very serious and Customer Service need to look into this ASAP.5. Each review should be all allowed to be edited at least once.6. This should be a pleasant site to use, slide is short Be kind and professional to one another. I strive to do this7. Always put yourself in the persons shoes you are upset with8. Think before you respond.Thank you

This online business use’s deceptive business practices. They prompt you to leave a review of your purchase and then say you can’t get a refund because “the sale is final” after you leave a review. Even when the seller ships you damaged goods and you left the rating to indicate that. I will never buy another thing from their platform. I hope they go out of business. They apparently thrive by cheating people.

Cannot delete account on desktop. Tries to force you to use mobile app. Marketplace on here is a joke compared to Poshmark. Sellers don't respond and notifications are faked. Would never recommend.

If I could leave -0 stars, I would! I want to express my deep disappointment with Mercari: they scammed my wife when she bought a cell phone for $1200. The scammer manipulated the bar code, redirecting the package to another address. Despite showing two USPS emails confirming the error, customer support asked her to wait three days to resolve, without acknowledging the evidence. After hours of contact, not only did they not return the money, but they made the payment to the scammer. Today we close our accounts on this platform. Beware of Mercari and its scammers! I share this to prevent others from going through the same thing, especially in these difficult economic times.

Let me tell you about mercari's business ethic:Me: Hi Mercari, I started selling with you two months ago and already sold items worth thousands . Occasionally I buy items too. A seller chose the wrong shipping option. Could I get a refund for $4.49? That's way less than 1% of the fees I paid you from my sales.Mercari: No.Me: Are you sure? I'll keep on selling and will make you much more money.Mercari: No!Me: (Immediately remove every item from Mercari. Every item would have paid mercari more than $4.49 in fees and started selling somewhere else).

Mercari does not care about sellers selling counterfeit items. It is a hot bed for fake/counterfeit knock-offs. Sad that they do not police their seller and allow this type of business to be conducted on their site. If at all possible, stay away and buy from a reputable business.Shame on you Mercari

Absolutely horrible customer service. I ordered a sweater that was described as a woman's XL and the size tag had been cut off. When I received it it was huge! -very clearly a men's XL if not larger. & The seller edited her listing to be more vague after my return request was filed. They denied my request for a return and I cannot rate the seller. I even attached multiple pictures with measurements etc.. -not buy from them again. Not nice people.

I can't even leave a negative star which is more appropriate. I sell things on eBay all the time for years and because of rising fees, I decided to try mercari which was a huge mistake. I listed 15 items and sold 3 items within 5 days. One of the buys decided that they want to have their cake and eat it too by requesting a return for defects on my item which is a complete lie. I have photos and take before and after pics of my item before I ship. Mercari didn't care about my evidence and sided with the buyer. I was furious because that item retails at $100 and I gave the buyer a discount because she sent me an offer that I gladly approved which I regret. At this point, it's the principle, even though I'm out $60 bucks but it's just not right what they are doing. There's no integrity in this company it seems and customer service is just awful, same generic responses and at one point, they will get snippy with you if you are emailing back and forth. I took all my items off their website and I figured that even though eBay raised and added more fees, I never really had this kind of treatment when dealing with their customer service and their buyers. Seller beware, sell things that you won't care to lose, don't sell expensive stuff here or just don't give them any business. Mercari you need to do better!!!

If I could rate ZERO stars- I would. The absolute WORST most DREADFUL customer service I have ever had. I bought about seven item on this app over a 4 month period. I attempted to purchase an item in January and it confirmed. About 3 minutes later I received an email and an app notification saying they revoked my privileges due to "unusual payment activity". They will not talk to me about why. I have called and emailed nine times with them. They wont take to me or reinstate my account. They told me to "request Direct Deposits in order to receive your funds" back. I have requested to speak with a supervisor 4 times. They will not call me or get me to a supervisor. Multiple emails saying they won't tell me anything or reinstate my account or give me any details. Worst. Company. Ever.
