After eating at La Comida last week and having a wonderful meal I was impressed by the fresh ingredients used. The quality of the salad, main course and dessert were all yummy. I have eaten at Stevenson House and Masonic and both had nice placemats and flowers that set a nice feeling. I recommend you try it.

La Comida provides a delicious hot lunch every week day for seniors in our area. Not only are the meals tasty, the staff and volunteers who work there are friendly and nice to interact with. You never know who will sit at your table which is part of the fun. La Comida also often has special events and meals for holidays. If you are over 60 and haven't been to La Comida, you should try their Stevenson House location in South Palo Alto or their Masonic Center location in downtown Palo Alto,

I came from China a few years ago. I stay at my daughter's house to take care of her kids. Now that they are all in school, I do not have much to do. One day I hopped on the Palo Alto free shuttle. I heard two Chinese people talking about La Comida. They said that seniors , those over 60, are welcome to go there for lunch. I joined them, and went to their lunch program at Masonic center, in downtown Palo Alto. I am so happy to meet some other Chinese speaking diners. The food is full of nutrition, freshly prepared daily. It includes salad, main dish ,side dishes and dessert, plus coffee/tea, and milk. The helpers are all volunteers, they are so kind and caring.I am going there often now. There is live music , movie day, line dancing on Wednesdays, and games to play. Please encourage your parents to come and join the lunch program.

Seniors love La Comida!!! It's a great place to get a wonderful nutritious meal and meet other people. I was talking with a senior diner at La Comida the other day who said after her boyfriend died, she needed to find a place where she could make friends and meet other people her age. She said it's too hard to socialize with people in her apartment who are always on the go and don't have time to even say hi. La Comida serves a warm tasty meal 5 days a week and she's gotten to know some of the regulars she sees each time. I'm a volunteer there. La Comida is always looking for volunteers too.

A well-run organization mostly based on volunteers, La Comida is a great place for seniors to get a healthy meal and commune with friends. When you walk in, you are greeted and guided to an open table where you do not sit alone. They serve you a warm, delicious meal that is beautifully-presented and consists of a protein, usually a sauce, healthy vegetables, and a starch. You get your recommended daily allowance without feeling the food or service is institutional. The volunteers who serve the meal are trained to serve from the left and pick up from the right, so you feel like you're being cared for. It's a great deal at $3 (suggested donation), especially when all your friends are there. Definitely check it out.

It's hard for any food venue to please more than 50% of the people. However, La Comida, at very low cost to seniors, serves nutritionally balanced meals that are frequently quite tasty. Given their low budget, it's nearly a miracle that they do as well as they do and the staff is friendly and accommodating.

Many seniors depend on La Comida for a balanced daily meal and to socialize. The food is not salted and not spiced because of dietary restrictions of many seniors. The cost to seniors is $3, and for many who don't cook this place provides a great service. Sometimes there is entertainment, piano, voice, and recognition of special holidays. It's also convenient for seniors who take advantage of Avenidas senior center's excellent programs, writing workshops, bridge, mah jong, language lessons and such.

I have a lesson to tell you people. Don't ever be poor, Ever. You want quality food, organic homegrown granny cares meals. This is not the place. Maybe to socialize. But don't eat this stuff. You'll die sooner from it and in pain. I checked it out. The place is nasty. Mary Batchelder who is in charge is nasty and has alzheimers. Grow your own food , chickens etc. anyway you can and be rich so you don't have to come here because you're down and out. Your body will love you for it. Amen.
