Overall, this place is a gem. Staff is very welcoming. Great coffee.Note that there are a lot of fleas and the tables are by no means "elegant". The seating is rather scrappy, but it is a great coffee shop.

Chill spot to hang out by yourself or with a group. You can grab a bite or just a drink and it'll be a good time either way.All that said, the pourovers are skippable. Very under extracted and the ratio felt super off as the drink was a dilute mess. As reddit always says: they need to grind finer.Would still recommend stopping by, it's a unique spot to check out!

Love how it's a little hidden away on California Ave. Good place to hang out. They have non coffee options. I had a hot chocolate that was non sweetened which is different and felt healthier lol.

Jefferson prepared the Desert Rose ? Latte to perfection: smooth. rich beautifully brewed. It is my first time visiting this café. I will definitely return: their menu has very unique flavors.

Backyard Brew was a cute little coffee alley that my group stumbled upon one afternoon. I got the desert rose latte, and it was very good, but my wife didn't finish her tea. A friend got an oatmilk matcha latte and it was so-so. The service at the register, however, was stand-offish, which made us not feel welcomed at all. As well, the area is all shade or covered, so if you are visiting on a cold day, you will be freezing from the windy gusts throughout the alley. All of that aside, my coffee was good and I liked how the bathroom's walls were plastered with comic book pages. The art and murals were also very cool, and gave the area a fun and quirky vibe. Someone was onsite roasting coffee beans, so the smell of coffee was on the air. I just wish the service was nicer and more welcoming (but, I am also considering that they may have just been cold as hell, cuz it was really cold over there).

The coziest coffee shop in Palo Alto. This little nook is the perfect place go to get some work done, to relax or to chat with friends during the Cal Ave farmers market on Sundays. The drinks are good, but seem to have gone down in quality in the past year. The tea selection is large, but when I've had it is has tasted a little stale which makes sense since it's kept in large glass jars outside.

A $5 Cortado in a paper cup? Forget it.It's lame, coffee places have been taking advantage of this Covid BS and now serving everything in paper cups.No matter how good your beans are, paper cups are gross.Definitely not coming back until they change to real cups and hire a decent barista

Such a cute outdoor patio area with freshly brewed tea and lattes and espresso drinks!! Perfect place to get some work done and enjoy yourself a nice cold drink on a hot day. Free wifi and outlets to charge your things. Service is amazing! I got their desert rose latte and didn't like it and the server willingly made it for me again and upgrade my size to a large and when I still didn't like it, he made me an entirely new drink (a lavender tea latte iced) SO good.
