The Budget in LAX needs an overhaul of it's customer experience. I expected more from the Budget agents I got. Condescendingly she forced me to buy insurance policies I neither needed nor wanted. She didn't listen to me when I told her I didn't want the additional insurance policies or any policies; instead, she said "I'm just going to get you these policies, anyway," turning a $50 car rental price into $130 car rental price. She said California law required that I buy all of the policies, but if that were the case, I am sure the Website would not have allowed me to reserve the car without buying the policies online. Her behavior came after I had to wait in a line for over an hour just to get to the counter, so I was tired and not in any condition to argue with her. Moreover she simply refused, and I absolutely needed a car. I didn't even get the premium car I reserved. I have never in all of my life waited in a line for over an hour to pick up a rental car, and I can't imagine doing it again.

The person helping me was great.the problem was she was the only one checking in 30 plus people and it took an hour and forty minutes to receive a vehicle. And was told that the vehicles that were available was a truck or van. You need more staff and need to not reserve cars that aren't available. Saw every single other rental car company move through their lines and get their customers cars as we just stood in line wonder what the hell was going on. Very unprofessional

I reserved a premium SUV for a guys golf trip. When we got to Palm Springs they were out of all SUVs. We had a tee time in one hour so we were in a hurry as well. The girl finally founds keys to a Nissan Armada SUV, which I was happy with. I get to the parking lot to find out that the keys she gave me were to aNissan Altima, which could not hold 4 guys and their clubs and bags. I had to go back in and jump the line to get a car that would work. The only thing remotely large enough for us was a Pacifica mini van. This was clearly not what I wanted but at this point we were running late for our 1st golf round and had to take it as nothing else would have worked. Definitely not ideal, but at least a solution that we could fit in. The girl working the counter was helpful, but you really shouldn’t reserve something if you can’t keep the reservation for the customer. I usually only use Budget when I travel so this was a very disappointing experience. Would have given 1 star, but the helpful desk agent gets another star.

Honestly - it was a nightmare - we arrived at the airport and there were only 4 rental agents checking in about 100+ budget/avis renters. The line took over an hour to get through and when we got to the front we were informed that the SUVs which we booked were oversold and we would have to take a downgrade to a toyota sedan and still had to pay the SUV price. It was a complete disaster and in the future we will be renting from another company even if it costs more just to avoid the total waste of time and nuisance this last booking caused us.

Stood in line for 2 hours. They had 60 people in line for cars and 2 useful , one not very useful person(s) to take care of things. They had to know the demand was coming, should have staffed appropriately. Will not use again nor will any of the others in line I suspect. Nobody had seen such a painfully slow process to get a prebooked car. Fast track and “phone help line” were useless as well.

I received a car covered in damage! I asked for a replacement car and was told none were available. The rental agent said, “ don’t worry it’s been documented.” I asked for a discount and was told that wasn’t possible.

Excellent service from the initial reservation for a larger capacity vehicle through changes due to airline schedule changes and reduced need for van that could accommodate 7 adults and all their baggage down to 6, more airline schedule changes and less passengers. The check in agent was excellent and had a great sense of humor and manages many interruptions with ease. Our vehicle was spotless, fit us well and in great condition. Drop of was excellent and extremely easy; just get out of your car and on your way and before we were 3 feet from the vehicle we were emailed our receipt. Excellent service and team at Palm Springs International Airport

Do not rent from this location! Almost 3 hours in line to pick up car on a Thursday afternoon. Rotating 2 - 4 staff members. 3 HOURS!!!!! I was in line to get the rental car longer than my flight to Palm Springs. Avoid Budget unless you want to stand in line. Or get their fast track added to your account profile a ***few days ** before your trip so it's active. I added it the before & was told it doesn't count.

I would give zero stars if I could. Having just landed in Palm Springs, I found all the car rental agencies with no lines other than Budget. It was a Saturday and there was one agent with 50 people on line. After 1 hour we moved exactly 8 feet and that was only because people got disgusted and left. All the other agencies claimed they had no vehicles. I went online and booked another car with Alamo. I then walked up to the counter and immediately got a car! It cost me $100 more but it was worth it not to waste my entire day at the airport. Never again.

Vehicle that I received had been in a minor fender bender and had over 60,000 miles on it. Maintenance Required light was illuminated and Budget airport rental agent was not willing to assist in any way unless I paid more money.I took pictures prior to leaving rental lot.... Highly recommend documenting vehicle condition with pictures as always. Car worked fine during rental period, I guess I just expected more from Rental Company.

My partner and I embarked on what should have been an exciting getaway to Palm Springs, armed with a reservation from Budget for a rental car. However, what followed was an experience that I would classify as an absolute letdown of epic proportions. Over the course of three days, Budget managed to shatter my expectations in ways I never thought possible.Imagine eagerly planning your day, confident in the knowledge that your rental car is secure. Each morning, you'd assume that this would be the day when everything goes smoothly, only to find yourself stranded in disbelief. This was the tormenting cycle I found myself in - after booking an Uber, making my way to the airport with high hopes, only to be told the car wasn't available, despite being a loyal member of their Fastbreak program. It wasn't just the physical inconvenience that grated on my nerves; it was the soul-crushing disappointment of seeing our plans dashed time and time again. On my partner's birthday, a day that was meant to be memorable, we ended up wandering the blistering streets of Palm Springs, caught between frustration and desperation. The promised lifeline of a rental car was nowhere in sight, leaving us grappling with heat and disillusionment. The tipping point came when I reached out to corporate, seeking refuge in the hope that the situation could be salvaged. They assured me of a car's availability at an off-site location, only to once again be met with the bitter sting of rejection. The representative's casual dismissal cut through my patience, and the disbelief of knowing that they were still issuing reservations, while I stood stranded, is something I won't soon forget. In the aftermath, it's the emotional toll that remains most vivid. Money was wasted on Ubers, and our patience was drained by endless calls and false assurances. Budget's promise of a "Fastbreak" felt like a cruel joke - more like a fast track to disappointment than anything else. The images of cars on my reservation mockingly served as a reminder of the gulf between promises and reality. The heart of the matter lies in a simple sentiment: Budget's overbooking policy turned what should have been a hassle-free experience into a series of disheartening events. The nonchalant explanations and apathetic attitudes from customer service felt like salt in the wound. It's disheartening to think that a company would prioritize overbooking over customer satisfaction. As I reflect on this experience, my advice to fellow travelers is clear: save yourself the disappointment and choose a company that values its customers and their plans. Budget's handling of my reservation left a sour taste, overshadowing the scenic beauty of Palm Springs with a cloud of frustration. This is a chapter I won't soon forget, and unfortunately, it's the legacy Budget has left in my memory.

The staff at the Palm Spring International Airport was outstanding. Very friendly, cheerful, and extremely helpful and no pressure to purchase any additional plans. We had prepaid and no trouble getting our vehicle in a timely and quick fashion. No line ( imagine it all depends on timing of your flight). We requested a Toyota Corolla type vehicle and received a Mazda X30 with only 7000 miles. Nice vehicle ( weird though because the side mirrors tip down automatically when car is in reverse but that's a vehicle thing not Budget's ). Pricing was one of the best available.

If I could leave a zero star I would. Erick Sosa Sr. has terrible customer service skills as a manager. This place in the Palm Springs Airport is the worst experience we have ever had, the manager should be fired. He gave me a car that had a hole in the floorboard, the tires were worn, no navigation, and AC was subpar. And by the manager Erick this was OK when I brought these issues to him. He was rude and obnoxious, not sure how he got his position with Budget Rentals. Think twice before you rent here.BTW our car was considered an upgrade. BEWARE go elsewhere.

I rented a car for a week. The one front tire kept losing air, and eventually would not retain air at all while I was in the middle of nowhere. I found a repair shop and had the tire replaced in accordance with instructions from Budget Roadside assistance. This took most of my day and prevented me from getting to where I was planning to go. The repair shop said that the tire on the car was so warn that it was unsafe and should never have been on the car in the first place. I took the old tire and left it in the trunk for Budget to inspect for themselves. When I returned the car, the manager at the location tried to tell me that the flat was likely my fault. When I explained that the tire was in the trunk and he should look at it himself, he said he would review and get back to me. That was two months ago and I am still waiting for a response. This was the worst customer experience that I've ever had while renting a car. Things go wrong, but it's how you deal with them that makes a difference, and Budget will not receive my business again.
