I'd caution against using the services of Find a Good Accountant. We hired Jordan to prepare our corporate and personal taxes. Jordan unethically pre-dated our draft 1040 return and electronically submitted it prior to our approval and without our consent. Jordan did not take the time to ask the necessary questions to understand our tax situation (he literally asked one). As a result, the draft tax return had egregious errors and omissions, including an ungodly tax liability. We had a similar experience filing my corporate tax return (ex. taking 5 attempts to get the name and address of the business corrected). Because of this we lost faith in his abilities and elected to disregard the return he presented, start over and file our own. After Jordan sent the draft, we received no further correspondence from him. He never informed us that he had filed the draft return with the hefty tax liability (the amount of an average annual salary). We only learned of his actions when we received a notice of delinquency from the IRS. Jordan's flagrant negligence has resulted in countless hours of our time trying to rectify this situation. We are now subject to significant financial penalties as well as a long-term relationship with the IRS. When questioned, Jordan did admit that his assistant had filed our tax return by mistake and treated it like a "whoopsie". It is a serious event when a tax accountant uses a client's social security number and submits a tax return without their consent. We have filed formal complaints with the IRS and hope that the proper penalties are applied.
