Bristol Farms reminds me of these specialties stores usually found in large cities. Palm Desert is not an inner city. However, the town boasts a gourmet store--Bristol Farms. Great food of all types. Fresh bakery goods. Fresh caught seafood. A mouthwatering delicatessen section. Better fill your belly with food Or you'll walk out with a full cart.

*Mixed Bristol Farms Feelings*I've been shopping at Bristol Farms since they opened their first location on the Westside of Los Angeles in Westwood (which since changed locations) and I frequent the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills and Westchester locations. Nowadays, what usually brings me here 90% of the time is their sushi. It's very good and not your "typical grocery store sushi" -- it's very fresh and also reasonably priced for the quality & quantity -- they don't skimp on the fish nor overload the rice. I recently told my mom how good their spicy tuna rolls are and she didn't hesitate to go buy a package and loved it.Rick in the Sushi Dept is so nice & Awesome with a capital A. But unfortunately, their sushi rice is inconsistent -- sometimes it's just right -- sometimes it's under/overcooked -- at times it's missing the right amount of rice vinegar. Sushi rice is very crucial to good sushi -- they compliment each other just like a good bun for a burger...and socks for a comfy pair of shoes. My other complaint is the prepackaged wasabi they include, which I do not care for. It's too thin...tastes fake and more like chemicals than wasabi. I'm surprised for such a "high-end grocery store" like Bristol Farms, all their locations carry this wasabi and wish they provided better quality like Whole Foods & Gelson's. Another thing I find very inconsistent about this Palm Desert location is most of the staff & team members. They're not the friendliest people and can be as cold as the air conditioner inside...and most of the time I feel like I'm working there and they're an unhappy customer. I treat everyone with kindness & respect (unless I'm given a reason not to) and on more than 3 occasions, I wasn't greeted nor acknowledged while checking out -- yet I'm the one saying "hello" & "how are you?" and "have a great day." There's also times I've been completely ignored while the cashiers are engaged in personal conversations with other store members. I know there's more pressing things going on in the world, but I always give people the benefit of doubt and understand we all have our moments. 1st & 2nd impressions are often lasting...and now that I've experienced this more than 3 times, I feel the need to express myself. Because 3 strikes you're out. I'm not saying I won't return -- it's generally a beautiful store with wide & spacious aisles, my wife enjoys shopping here and likes their sushi too. But the other day on her most recent trip, she told me she now knows & understands first-hand what I've been taking about with the unfriendly customer service and being ignored because it happened to her in 3 separate instances/departments during the same visit. Another thing this location doesn't compare to some of the others in LA County is there's no cold food bar...and their hot food bar is very limited. But Nata, the Service Deli Manager is extremely accommodating and has a hands-on approach to customer satisfaction & quality. And let's not forget about Adeara in the Bristol Cafe who has a smile that lights up the left side of the room and makes everyone feel welcomed. Additionally, I wish their self-checkout stands accepted cash so I'm not always forced to interact with the unfriendly staff -- which is so sad in itself because at times it's nice to interact with the world instead of robots & machines. I know you can't compare Bristol Farms to Albertsons across the street, but lately I've felt a weird vibe shopping here and because most of their items are much higher priced, I've been coming here just for the sushi. But between Rick, Nata and Adeara, l'll be coming here more often. But on a good day, this is a very good grocery store, they have great sales, excellent produce & bakery (but expensive) and there's adequate parking in the center/plaza where they&

I was hosting an event in the Palm Desert area and needed 48 macarons. I called the store and the staff was incredibly helpful and informed. When I arrived the associate had already pulled the cookies from the back and had them waiting for me. The macarons were a big hit and would definitely shop here again. They have a great cheese section as well and really fun seasonal items.

Beautiful store, lots of prepared food options along with the essentials. I am gluten free and vegan and the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is there was not much of a selection that was both gluten free and vegan. Service was kind in trying to help me.

Outdoor Seating, Dog Friendly! It’s been a while since I’ve been in a Bristol farms, I was in the mood for pizza unfortunately, I think this location stopped selling pizza? They did have a hot bar but the food did not look pleasing. The sushi looked ok and the fresh poke also, did not look good. I decided to grab a sando but those were overpriced, nothing special about them, they were pre-packaged an no one was at the sandwich station. After that experience I probably would not step into a Bristol Farms again. We shall see…
