Thank you, dear Susan, for your very kind and friendly help! The wine I wanted was sold out and Susan called the neighboring store and reserved bottles for me. The best employee at Safeway. in the store we trust in the US! Best wishes from Germany!

I drive to this specific Safeway in Pacifica from SF. I use the Safeway app in advance to know exactly what they have in stock and get a general idea of how much I will be paying. Outside, it is clean and there is parking. (Coming from SF this means a lot- this means there are no piles of garbage in the parking lot or in the shopping carts) There are employees who help me find what I need- I've spoken to the wonderful lady in the dairy yogurt section and the meat/fish counter. Both employees have gone out of their way to help me find specific items. I've also noticed that the bakery section has items that the Safeway in Westlake and other areas don't have- like the cute cookies n cream bar cake or the extra berry/whipped cream garnishes that are added to the cake slices. And finally, the man who handles the self check out area is polite, helpful and low-key. I have to agree with another reviewer that this a "comfort" Safeway for me, a functioning store with appropriate customers and employees. So, take heed, if you come to this store, let's try to keep it this way!! :)!

This is specifically for the floral department - I was trying to get some lucky baboos because they're on sale for CNY. Of the many lucky bamboos (all tagged and sized the same), I chose two to my liking. The lady who rang me up scanned the code from the tag, in disbelief, she went to the back computer and reprinted out a tag charging $10 more per lucky bamboo plant that I was ready to purchase. I had to plants. That's an extra $20. I asked her why she charged me each for $20 when the original code she scanned was only $12.99 (advertisement paper I was holdIing showed it to be on sale for $10.88 due to CNY). She said they priced it wrong when ALL the tags for lucky bamboos are exactly the same. Does that mean she needs to retag ALL the lucky bamboos? I showed her the advertisement paper and verified it's part of Safeway. She STILL DID NOT honor the price on the advertisement paper. I DO NOT buy your plants/flowers here. They will retag the flowers/plants last minute and tell you. They've been tagged incorrectly. Lesson learned. Went back to my neighborhood Safeway and they honored the price as advertised.

Good inventory but everything is slow. I don’t know why they can’t hire staff like other Safeway stores. There are never enough cashiers so the lines are very long. Usually nobody at the deli counter so you have to find someone to page someone else and wait for them. If you need anything from a locked case, forget about it. They lock one door at sunset, and I don’t know why, but they lock the ones on the side with the carts. So you have to get a cart then walk all the way back to the open door. I’ve been at the deli counter waiting for someone to show up while I wrote this. Still waiting.

This particular store is almost always very crowded. The merchandise and prices are standard Safeway. Having shopped at this location for years, I have never seen enough cashiers to keep the lines down. And with only 4 self-checkout stations, there is usually a line down the wine aisle for those. Some of the deli personnel don't understand English well enough for me not to have to repeat myself several times, and apparently haven't been told the difference between thin sliced and sandwich sliced meat.Honestly, if not for the convenience of being only two blocks from home, I would (and sometimes do) shop elsewhere.

Went there for a quick last minute shopping couple days before Christmas and, surprisingly, the crowd was well controlled thanks for the self checkouts.Store is huge but clean and orderly, lots of choices for any variety of produce.

I come here quite a bit so I thought I'd write them a review. This is the closest safeway/grocery store from home. It is very convenient with a good selection of items. I love that they have a self-checkout as the lines can get quite long. Deli staff are very friendly, however they sometimes are out of sopressata. Other than that, I can usually find everything that I need.

Re: Safeway on Hickey Boulevard store #2843. I called Angela Flores last Friday August 4, she is the store manager, to see about any updates in my case. Last month, She had claimed she would review the video from the day in question. when I asked her about it, she told me someone had just asked her a question, and asked if she could call me right back. She took my phone number, and again stated, I'll call you right back. it's been almost a week, and guess what? I haven't heard from her. She can't say she miss wrote my number by accident, because I've given it to her in the past. it would also be on the complaint I made last month. Can you imagine a store manager doing this? I can now.
