“Exceptional Experience at Bernal Beast!

I discovered Bernal Beast during my walks with my new dog, Little Bear, and after noticing the store’s training offerings, I decided to give it a try. The classes I wanted to join were full, so I opted for a private “Ask the Trainer” session—and I am so thankful I did!

From the moment I contacted the trainers, I felt at ease. Erika and Stephanie (the amazing folks running the training program) were incredibly understanding and helpful when I made a mistake with my booking, going above and beyond to get everything sorted.

When Little Bear and I finally met Erika, I could immediately tell we were in great hands. By the end of the session, I felt like I had learned so much, and I left with renewed confidence as a dog owner. Erika is patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind—not just with my dog but with me, too. She showed us new techniques, went over some of the basics, and took the time to ensure I wasn’t overwhelmed. I felt supported every step of the way.

Bernal Beast is more than just a training center, though. The store itself is wonderful—clean, easy to navigate, and always stocked with great pet products. The staff here are all friendly and welcoming. Little Bear is a bit nervous around new places, but the staff’s patience and generosity make each visit a positive one. They spoil her with treats, give great recommendations without pressure, and genuinely care about the pets they serve.

I can’t recommend Bernal Beast enough. Whether you’re looking for training, pet products, or just a welcoming space for your fur baby, this place has it all. I wholeheartedly recommend working with Erika (and Stephanie, who I’m sure is just as amazing) to help build that bond with your pet. We can’t wait for our next visit and to continue learning from Erika!”

“Great dog washing station with good water pressure, and plenty of treats and towels. However there are only 4 stations so if it’s a busy day you might have to wait. Also make sure to get extra soap since it doesn’t really come out with the water when washing.”

They stay up to date on new toys and brands so much so that it almost feels like they are anticipating our needs. “I can’t say enough wonderful things about The Animal Company. My family and I purchased a baby African Grey parrot from them, and from day one, Ellen, Rick, and Lyz were outstanding. They guided us through every detail of caring for our first “big bird”—from feeding tips, safety advice, and living setup to helping us bond properly with our new companion, Moon.

Eight months later, Moon escaped her cage and flew out an open door. We were absolutely devastated, but The Animal Company stepped in and gave us the hope, support, and guidance we needed. Thanks to their quick responses and caring approach, we were reunited with Moon within just one day!

We also board our birds here whenever we travel—our parakeets included—and we’re always confident they’re in great hands. It’s never about money for this family-run business, either. When we first got Moon, they allowed us to put down a deposit and pay over time. They even had us come in regularly to bond with her, feed her, and play before taking her home. These folks truly treat you like family.

The food they provide is top-notch and all-natural, not the usual big-box chain variety. Moon and our other birds thrive on it, which shows how passionate The Animal Company is about the well-being of animals. We’re beyond grateful for their expert knowledge, sincere kindness, and the loving environment they create. It’s wonderful to have such a dedicated, family-run store in our community, and we couldn’t imagine going anywhere else for our bird’s needs.”

Tony, in particular, was incredibly helpful in answering all of my questions and providing me with the right product for my mother's dog as I am not a pet owner myself.What really impressed me was their stock of motion sickness medication. My mom's dog has a history of getting sick during car rides, and it's always been a struggle to find the right solution so that Mollie can visit my daughters. “Petsmart dog training department. I've been taking my female doberman Iris here for puppy class and intermediate class with Martiza. She is such a caring and wonderful dog trainer and has ways to help the dogs and trainers get better in class. She has the best passion for all the dogs in her class, and they all seem to love her so much. I recently adopted another doberman pinscher, Remy, who is also seeing Martiza for puppy class and intermediate. She was amazing helping both my dogs pass both classes and more to come. Now with brain games on the way both my doberman will be attending her classes with some private classes also. I highly recommend Martiza if you need your dog train to do better. Looking forward to the upcoming classes with Martiza with both my doberman pinscher.”
