“I would love to return in cooler weather and use the fireplace.

We were there in June and had great weather in the 60s. We felt safe to take long walks in the neighborhood and along the beach.

Rooms: Gorgeous location. Very comfortable two bedroom suite with a full kitchen.

Nearby activities: Thank you to Amy for great advice on what to do in the area. Being between Carmel by the Sea and Monterey, we were able to stay at a quiet location and easily drive to fantastic places

Safety: Very safe friendly location.

Walkability: It is a short walk to the beach.”

“Ok. It's old. We've grown old with it, as have our kids and grandchild. There's no fridge. There's an ice machine. Bring an ice chest. Use the $100's you'll save on some ice. Out of 30 yrs, I've been warm once in the room. They've given us a space heater before the heaters were lit. You get where I'm going. Stay and enjoy the views, the access to walk across the street and be on trails for hours, free parking without tipping for valet every time you want your car....it's not the Plaza or a spa retreat and they've never failed to tell you that when you book. Yep, it can be noisy too...between the crashing waves and best sleep of your life, if you've played hard enough. Please don't ruin it for the rest of us. Book elsewhere because the people who work here are kind, care and the maids work hard with what they have. I hope they keep the place up, keeping it clean, comfortable, low key and affordable.”

“Finally a hotel worthy of the name! The staff is smiling.
This is only the 2nd in 10 days where I've slept well!
The windows are soundproofed as are the walls. Aside from the trash at 8am, I didn't hear much.
The SPA is super pleasant and warm especially with a cold wind.
The breakfast is complete, the orange juice is good, that makes a change!
The wifi works very well.
On the other hand there were only 2 towels for 4 people...
We still made the most of it.

Rooms: The rooms are more than large enough for several nights even though we only stayed one.
There was a fireplace with a $5 log if needed.
2 extra towels would have been handy

Noteworthy details: Quiet and super cute neighborhood”

“Adorable place. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Customer service was amazing, the rooms were very clean. A 5 minute walk away from the ocean and about 10 minute drive from Cannery Row. I will be returning.”

“Had an amazing experience here. We stayed one night during a road trip and the sweet lady at the front desk was so helpful with recommendations in the area. Pacific Grove is a beautiful quiet area, and we were able to take a nice walk from the hotel to the beach to go tidepooling. The property is well taken care of, we wish we had more time in the area! My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower was very bad, but that’s pretty standard in small hotels unfortunately. Definitely recommend!

Walkability: Not a very walkable area, but there are sidewalks and it’s a quiet residential area so you can walk to the beach and then there’s plenty of trails along the coast from there.”

“It was as I expected. Medium sized, simple, a little older and rougher, but recently updated. We had a deluxe with the kitchenette(from what I understand from other reviews,
the deluxe rooms are better maintained than the rest).

My main complaints were:
The beds. They were too firm for my comfort. The pillows were sad, small, and not well stuffed.

The room itself was stuffy and humid, though we did have a ceiling fan and windows that opened with screens and locks. So that helped.

The ants. First they were in the bathroom then they were coming out of the thermostat to the food on the counter. These buildings are old and likely lots of little cracks the little buggers can sneak in though. Bring bug spray(safe to use around kids and pets because it is a small area and you will be sleeping near by)

The dining table was a glass top(hated it) and the chairs were very uncomfortable.

Oh, and the fireplace. It's electric. I understand why but it was still a bummer for me. I was hoping it was real.

If you get a deluxe kitchenette, it does give you incredibly basic and cheap cookware/flatware/dinnerware. The only knives we had in ours was a bread knife and a steak knife. The only pan was too small for anything decent. If you plan to cook, I suggest bringing some tools from home. If you want to save money by cooking while you're there, I also suggest bringing some basic groceries with you. The shops in town are over priced.

On the websitr, one of the amenities listed is a vending machine. It was empty for the five days we were there aside from the display cans which were old and sun-bleached.

The area was a little out of the way, but nice and quiet. The beach/shore is about a ten minute walk away. The cemetery is right around the corner. The Butterfly Grove is also within walking distance. The only close place to grab a bite is Lucy's in Lighthouse(opens around 11am and serves mostly hotdogs and ice cream.)

Overall, it was a decent stay for cheaper than most places without being terrible. I'd book here again but only the deluxe.”

“The hotel looked absolutely beautiful, and the representatives that I talked to on the phone were courteous and helpful. When plans changed, they easily allow us to cancel our reservation and rebook with no hassle. Greatly appreciated!”

“My girlfriend and I had a great stay here at the Rosedale Inn. The room was very cozy and had just about everything we needed to feel at ease. The location is great because it’s close to Asilomar Beach and resides in a peaceful area. The jacuzzi bathtub was also a great bonus.”

“This is a wonderful place to unwind. I have been coming here since the 1990s, first alone for conferences, then later w family to relax. Large campus, basically nothing happens here; time sort of stands still here. Pacific ocean across and lots of nature paths nearby to walk around. 17-mike drive is pleasant to drive thru, atleast parts of it. Monterey bay aquarium is a must visit place and so is the 4-hour whale watch trip into the ocean.. Nature/people at its best here. Well maintained, but then it costs a lot to make it all look good. You begin to get a good feeling about yourself here. Friendly people, since I have hardly seen any locals.”

“What a completely charming spot! Clean room, there were stairs to navigate but it was doable, good breakfast and overflow seating provided outside. The room was nice with lots of room and a balcony. The hotel is tucked away in a neighborhood and surrounded by trees.”

“Great location but don’t expect the room to be clean or the refrigerator and microwave to work. I was told that Lodge was in spider country so don’t be surprised to find a few. There was a balcony but bring a towel to wipe it down before it is usable. If you need a fork or spoon be sure to bring your own. If you want more than one coffee cup, stir sticks or creamer, ask at the office before going to your room.

Rooms: Not well kept up. Spiders in room. Refrigerator wasn’t working. Bathroom not very clean.”

“Stayed here for one night. This is a good place to stay. The staff was good and breakfast was decent. The room was clean and has a mini fridge, TV, and microwave. I will say the bed was super firm so just a heads up. By no means will this be the hotel you can say was a plush stay of your life but for the price, and location it's hard to complain.”

“From all of the reviews I read, I was so nervous about booking a stay, but let me just say that if you want to stay at a fancy hotel, this hotel is not it. We booked two nights and got the first level. The room had clean sheet, clean towels, a TV, and a small refrigerator. I was a little upset that it didn't come with a microwave like it had stated, but no big deal. The parking situation does stink. I wish they had more parking. It's so close to the lover's point Park, and we loved that. We will definitely stay again”
