We went to Hauk Fine Arts, which is a smal gallery near the downtown area of Pacific Grove. We enjoyed seeing the art and talkng to the staff.

I've been visiting The Hauk gallery for over 20 years and always impressed with the depth and variety of artists and paintings. My Favorite purchase was a watercolor by John O'Shay 1920's of Big Sur Coast.

Steve Hauk, the gallery owner, showed us around and provided many interesting facts about the works present as well as stories and anecdotes about subjects ranging from John Steinbeck (he's something of an expert), to the Japanese internees, to Gary Killdall - the local computer whiz who invented the CP/M operating system. It was altogether a very interesting experience!

Steve Hauk is an honest art gallery owner and dealer whose passionate appreciation for California art Is apparent from the moment you meet him. He has an eclectic eye and typically researches the art he represents thoroughly. His intellectual curiosity about life, art, and the beauty of the environment is reflected by the diverse artwork you will find in his gallery. He is a constant presence there and is always a delight to visit and spend time with.

This is a wonderful place to visit! Even if you're not a buyer, the owner is a great person who is an expert in his field! My husband and I have been going to this gallery for years, and we never tire of looking at the wonderful collection of art there, or listening to Steve Hauk talk about each art piece. It's so great to find a store that isn't like all those boring Carmel Galleries, it's a real treat to see what is in the Hauk Gallery! There's always something new!
