We called ahead because there were so many flights cancelled over the Holidays we had cars cancelled at other locations in LA. Shawna (at the Oxnard location) we assume, was the person we spoke with and she suggested waiting until 10:30am when they expected more cars. We show up at 11am and she says all she can offer is a truck. No, she cant, the reservation from another party specified a truck. We ended up with the last car — a Mercedes. She relied on the procedures Hertz outlined: if people did not show after 2 hours, it was fair to rent it. Thanks to her, we could finally travel home and celebrate Christmas! Thank you Hertz for letting the people who work for you have humanity when making decisions. I have been an Avis customer forever. I will switch for this human kindness.

Agent didn't have a mask. Phone number listed on Hertz website and on here doesn't actually get you a live human, it sends you to an endless menu/phone tree.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I had booked a cargo van to for 5/15 because I had to move. I got 3 email confirmations saying the date and everything. Was even charged partially for it, only to show up and THEY ARE CLOSED!!!!! If you are closed on a certain day that is fine, but don't make it so you can reserve a car that day. Not only am I going through the hassle of moving, especially during a quarantine, you made my day 387958739284 times harder. Then I had to call a bunch of other rental places to find a van / truck just to move. Never going here again, do not recommend to anyone. 0 out of 10 stars.

Since this airport doesn't have commercial traffic, the car rentals aren't as busy as you might be used to, but this one has a good selection and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, so I come here for all my local rental needs.

My husband called 2 days prior to rent a car and was given "the shop rate" then when I got here they wanted to charge me double that rate. Then I was asked for my Social security number so they could run a credit check on me because I was paying with my debit card?!! I have NEVER been asked for that information or to run a credit check. Is that a new thing? I have rented here earlier this year at this same exact place and didnt have ANY problems. I'm going to call AAA and tell my rep that I will NEVER rent from Hertz again or reccomend them to anyone! I don't appreciate being stranded at the airport. If I could give them ZERO STARS I would!!!!

Horrible experience the manager Joseph is a yes man and has no personality on the other hand Shannon is terrific and actually has a personality and has a smile on her face when greeting you, Another girl Candice is grumpy and is not friendly at all, Tom is friendly and has a great personality with jokes and such, Stay away from this Hertz, They rent unsafe cars and take advantage of the insurance companies there cars are dirty and they turn them over without inspection
