I've used Beacon Marine Electronics twice now, and I'll definitely be back again. Most recently I was desperate for an older NMEA cable and Nigel and Joel went the extra mile to help me track down a replacement and get it to me before a deadline. They even tested and cleaned the electrical connections on the instrument I brought in to help with IDing the cable type.Top notch service - I look forward to buying from and using services from Beacon Marine Electronics in the future. Thanks for the help BME!

I've had two horrible experiences with this company. I normally pay about $450 to $500 for an oil change. They were coming out to my boat anyway so I told him I'd rather give them the money. They charged me $1,400. $185 just to go pick up the oil .My second experience is was they quoted me to do some minor electronic work. When they finish the job it was more than double what they quoted me. Apparently they forgot they gave me a written quote. Horrible company I would never use them again.

I was interested in upgrading the batteries on my RV and selected a battery manufacturer, Battleborn. They referred me to Beacon for installation. My installation was just completed and the work was performed in a professional manner and, to my delight, done in two days. This involved installation of the batteries, reprogramming a solar controller and inverter and integration with the RV's alternator. I am very satisfied with the work done.

Joel came out for our FCC inspection and tried to up-sale equipment on everything he had written the boat up for. When my fiancé questioned his bogus write ups, he made excuses saying it was due to the poor condition of the boat (this is a Coast Guard regulated vessel, the boat is far from "poor" condition). After being questioned he also inferred that we didn't have a choice since our Coast Guard inspection was too close to look for other places to inspect/buy from. Another thing we found odd was how you have to pay for the inspection before you even get an appointment with them. After paying for it, it was like pulling teeth just to get someone out there. My fiancé has 20 years in the fishing industry and would not recommend this place to anyone. I can deal with a lack of professionalism, but this place is just outright wrong.

We have dealt with Joel twice as of late and it has been a disaster each time. My boat needed a radio certification for the Coast Guard and Joel came with no mask and a terrible attitude. He was a complete headache to deal with, as I had to repeatedly listen to him complain about how he doesn't have time to be here, and whine about how his hand hurts so bad. There was also no shortage of petty, rude, and unprofessional remarks regarding the condition of my boat's radios which worked perfectly fine before he arrived. To top it all off, he tried to upsell me on parts from his shop that were not necessary; just a total joke dealing with this guy and shame on Beacon marine for letting this guy represent your business! I wish I could leave negative stars on this review and certainly don't recommend anyone use Joel or this company for any of your marine electronic needs.

Wow! That is all I can say. When Joel says he will be at the gate to the marina at 0900, he is there. I asked him to make recommendations for a new VHF and AIS and he installed the best equipment money could buy. And equipment from Beacon Marine Electronics does not cost any more than if you purchase it at a "big box" marine toy store. What you get, however, that is different from the "big box" store" is superb expertise born from many years on the job in the field. Joel knows what works and what doesn't, and he knows how to find out what's wrong. Now I have an extremely powerful and reliable radio on my boat. Even more impressive is the AIS he recommended and installed. I can actually see AIS targets over 100 miles away, and to other vessels on the water, my boat looks like a tanker. Joel's installation was clean and professional, tidy and affordable. I highly recommend Joel and his firm. He is busy, so make sure you schedule your projects accordingly.

Beacon Marine Electronics is NOT PROFFESIONAL, it is a one man/family operation, from the moment you walk in the door they are UP SELLING on whatever your current needs are. But that's not the big problem their instalations are not done or overseen by the owner when they installed a VHF radio in my boat their man, Brian, left holes in wall, dust from drilling and when the owners were asked to repair they reluctantly sent him back and he put plastic over the gel coat to cover holes. NOT PROFFESIONAL.

Twice Joel failed. Once with a compass repair and then with radio installation, he made excuses both times that the boats were old and not well maintained, this is a bald faced lie and not an excuse for any professional repair service, only a fake excuse.
