Moved back to the area and needed a place to put some of my furniture, kitchenware, and some clothes while I was staying with family and looking for an apartment. Wasn't more than 3 months and I go to grab my stuff today only to find my boxes and furniture covered in mouse feces and urine. A dead mouse was stuck to my mattress.
You can probably imagine how angry anyone would be in this situation. You've spent all this time and money getting everything ready to move and then you find your stuff soiled in the one place it was supposed to be safe.
I called and was told they couldn't do anything about it unless I had insurance. There was no information about a requirement for insurance when I got my unit. Why would anyone think they would need insurance? The one job a storage facility has is to keep your stuff safe. Shouldnt THEY be insured? Why wouldn't that be included in the cost of the rent? They said "there's nothing we can do because it's not like we can go into the storage unit to spray or leave traps" .. what? isn't it their job to make sure nothing gets in in the first place? I'm not the first person this has happened to by reading reviews. So why haven't they addressed the issue of rodents getting into the units?
So essentially they told me, sorry that's too bad. We're not doing anything about it.
I would have saved money by just throwing all my furniture away instead of storing it here. So now I'm out $300+ dollars renting the unit for three months and I also have to go buy new furniture.
Unless you want all your stuff ruined, I recommend you store your stuff somewhere else. They don't care. I didn't even get so much as an apology. Just excuses and no accountability.

Safe, secure clean facility. They were good about being flexible on our move in and out dates which was nice since we did both in winter.

Stuff are friendly and helpful. I do my bill on line and have no problems. The place is nice, and clean and close to where I live so it's very convenient.

Turned in my Penske rental to them and had no issues! The minor bumps and bruises on the vehicle from a long trip were covered under the limited damage waiver (LDW). They were helpful in sending me a receipt to my email. Good communication!

Being apart of the Plumas Lake community has been amazing, but not everybody is a joy. Today a customer of Plumas Lake Storage posted on a community page complaining about this business. I had to give 5 stars to Plumas Lake Storage for how their supervisor handled the situation! She addressed the woman in a respectful way, but also while protecting the business. The lady was so persistent to complain and not giving the business a chance. Customer service goes a long way, and the patience they had with this woman to address her situation shows how much they care!
