21 year resident of Ojai here. I had not gone into this paint store in a few years because last time i went in, the guy was rude and abrupt. This was after they ignored me for at least two awkward minutes. I chalked it up to him just having a bad day. whatever. fast forward to yesterday i thought i would give them another try. i have some pine stumps i wanted to stain and put a semi gloss on. i walk in and show the employee ( A different guy from the first time) a picture of what i'm doing and what i want to do. he immediately had an aggressive attitude and started bombarding me with questions in a rude manner. "What Color stain? What kind? water or oil? What kind of gloss? you need to know this info! maybe your husband can bring in a piece of the wood..." hashtag mansplain. i said to him: "you're asking me wayyy too many questions too quickly". i couldn't think. he was so aggressive. i said "ok i think i'm just going to go home and think about it.." i felt like he BADGERed me into staying. "you're already here!" omg. i just said "okay. just give me a semi gloss top coat. water based." he made me feel so uncomfortable and anxious. i could not get out of there fast enough. i hope he figures out his anger issues. until then i will not recommend this place to anyone. ugh.

WORST PAINT EVER!!! Bought their "Aura", the very top level of paint @ 70.00$/gallon to paint our newly remodeled bathroom. I had the drywall person skim coat the existing walls to smooth them out and then paint the new color. The drywall mud was fully dry and cured, brand new. THE PAINT DOES NOT STICK!! It just peels off like a piece of tape. At first I thought the paint was too new and needed more curing, not the case. One week later it still has zero adhesion. Please remind me to never buy their product again!

I went in to Frontier Paint to buy paint for a piece of furniture. I have been a customer there before and never had a problem. After doing some research, I decided I wanted to try a certain brand. I was unsure of whether I could only get it in white or clear, or if they could mix a color with it. Because I wasn't really sure, I thought it wouldn't hurt to just ask. I went up to the counter and asked my question in which the reply was "no." I wasn't really sure what to say so I just said okay. He then said "why?" I wasn't really sure what to say again. He kept asking me why as I tried to say I had just thought it would be a nice finish on the piece. He continued to ask me why again in a tone I found very condescending. I was at a loss for words and actually felt really upset. It wasn't until my sister came up to the counter to try and help me when he stopped interrogating me about why I would choose that paint. Even after we said something about seeing it used on the internet, he told me that "80% of what's on the internet is bullsh*t." I truly do believe that because I am a young female he treated me like I was d**** The way he spoke to me was unacceptable, especially for customer service and I don't plan on shopping there again.

Really professional. Great service. Very good at matching colors. All their products are high quality and Benjamin Moore paint is by far the best paint that is widely available in the US. Once you paint with Benjamin Moore you won't want to use any other brand.

I love the convenience of the store. The gentlemen working there are very helpful and polite. However, the woman working there is always rude and acts as if she has better things to do with her time than to wait on a female. I suggest she find a position where she does not work with the public. She clearly does not have the personality for it. The guys who work and have matched colors for me have always been very professional and do a wonderful job. As a matter of fact, she worked on a paint for me last week and it was so different I had to go back and have another employee fix it. Since it is so convenient, I decided to try go there today and hopefully she would not be working. Unfortunately, she was and waited on me. Again, she was rude and told me she could not match the color that I brought in. I'm certain if one of the guys working there had waited on me, it would have been matched no problem. That was the last chance I will give them. I'm going down the street a little farther to Ace Hardware and have them match my color.

I will drive all the way from Ventura to get paint from Frontier. They carry the products I need (artist/murals) and I appreciate their knowledge and helpful attitude. They tell me they appreciate my business and that means a lot to me, especially since I don't buy very much product. Rhys

Friendly staff that took the time to give me advice and even helped pick paint colors. Significantly higher paint quality than you'll get at a big box store! I purchased numerous testers, paint, and stain and I'm very happy with the quality and results!

To be clear, I did not buy any paint from Frontier. I didn't have the opportunity to. I went in hoping to get some chalk paint for a dresser I'm renovating (although another review suggests they wouldn't know what that is). There was a man at the front desk and a woman mixing paint. There was one customer checking out and one off to the side looking at something. Nobody said hi as I entered the small shop. I looked on the shelves for a few minutes while I waited for some help. Lingered by the front desk, but the guy running the register wouldn't stop complaining about politics and denying global climate change to the guest that he had checked out right as I walked in. Didn't even look in my direction. After several minutes of zero acknowledgement, I simply walked back out.
