I found Kyoto by sheer accident and sooooo happy I did! What a wonderful right-sized market. Great selection, to the point, and not overwhelming. I purchased a few items and a spicy salmon roll. The roll was fresh and excellent. I wish I had bought two. They sell sake and asian beers as well. Very clean and well-organized with a solid selection of staples to choose from plus some fresh produce and frozen sashimi grade fish. Very welcoming and friendly. What a gem!!!

I love this little Japanese market because they have quality items and excellent prices! Every time I come in here, I always get service with a smile, and they always ask me if I want some chopsticks or forks. I really appreciate that because sometimes I forget. I usually come here for lunch because they have sushi on Fridays.

Kyoto’s Japanese Market is a family-owned small business located at the same corner location since the 1970s. My mom and her friends used to shop there for hard to find Japanese food. Recently, I’ve been dropping in bi-monthly for traditional sushi rolls that you don’t ever find at a sushi restaurant. They only make them on Fridays and Saturdays I believe. It is a very small but immaculately clean market that carries the essentials for basic Japanese cooking. I appreciate how items like the vegetables are neatly wrapped and displayed. It’s not in the abundance but in the care and display that goes into each individual item. Very Japanese and very ZEN.

My first time here and love this place! I used to go to Happi Spatula in San Marcos but all of a sudden their inventory has declined. I used to get kamaboko (Japanese fish cake) from there but they never have it and the woman always promised to get it "tomorrow". She even offered to hold some for me. Well after five "tomorrow"'s she never got any in stock. I just wish she would've told me the truth which could be she can't get it or won't carry it anymore for whatever reason. Then comes Kyoto which has kamaboko galore and they also have shabu beef and smoked pork (great for ramen). They also sell sushi and sashimi which I'll have to try next time. The personnel is very friendly. Their prices are great too! Thank you Kyoto Gift and Food!

Happy to have found this little shop closer to me! Normally for any Japanese drinks, seasonings, snack, and food, I always end up needing to go down to Mitsuwa in Kearny Mesa. However! This little gem is where I will be going for my first stop! They have almost everything but minimal variety which is alright with me. They also make sushi on either Fridays or Saturdays which I've been meaning to try. Definitely check it out if you live in the north county area!

Tiny little shop in a non-descript stripmall that is brimming with Japanese snacks, grocery items and even some chilled Japanese beer. When that run to Mitsuwa's is just not in the cards, support a local mom & pop shop by running into Kyoto and grabbing some bean cakes and pickeld daikon!

Love this place. Never knew they were here, but glad I found it. Shopped there a few months to get things I would have to drive to San Diego to get. The workers are friendly and willing to help you out if you have questions about products.

This store is pretty small, but employees were very friendly and helpful. I wasn't able to find okonomiyaki flour at a larger market, but they had it at Kyoto's, so we were all happy!
