I'm super upset to be writing this review because I have had so many positive experiences here but the new shop seems to have put a strain on their business. Normally if I ask for something and my hair will not look right or may be too thin someone would say that's not going to work. I got braids and it looked horrible. They blamed my thin hair and took my braids down after I stated I wouldn't pay more for them to fix it. I'm out my money and no style.

Walking into the beauty supply, I was greeted with smiles and great energy. They have so many hair products, literally everything you need is there. The options of lashes? SO MANY. Hard to choose from!The vibes are just really great!

I have been going to Astu for over 20 years and they have consistently provided top quality braiding. Have you ever stopped to look at the African clothes she sells? They're amazing. I have bought several beautiful outfits from her. A few months ago, I was going to Spain. I bought a beautiful dress and head piece from her as well as 2 dresses for my young nieces. Not sure if there's a way to post them here.

This was an incredibly disappointing experience. Despite requesting knotless braids, I received a different style and was informed that this was the standard procedure. It was frustrating to feel unheard when expressing discomfort due to the tightness, which was precisely why I had requested knotless braids in the first place. Despite voicing my concerns to the owner, it seemed as though my feedback fell on deaf ears, with the owner dismissing my dissatisfaction as insignificant.
Seeking a resolution, I contacted the salon the next day, hoping to address the issue. However, instead of finding a solution, I was met with resistance from the owner, who insisted on charging additional fees for corrections. Faced with this response and having already spent $260.00, I simply requested the braids be removed. While I believe a partial refund of $130.00 would have been reasonable given the circumstances, the focus remained solely on the owner's perspective, neglecting to acknowledge my dissatisfaction and the financial impact on my end.
This experience was not only disappointing but also highlights the importance of effective communication and customer-centric practices in the service industry. As fellow entrepreneurs, understanding and valuing customer feedback should be paramount to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.

Just wanted to show my appreciation for Astou, she did an amazing job today on the corn rows! I've gotten my hair done by her before but it was the first time I got color extensions on my hair and I really like how it came out! She added her own unique touch to it and I couldn't have left feeling any happier, thank you!

I have had the best experiences every time I have been to Astou African Braiding & Beauty. I have been to this salon multiple times (4+) and every time the quality of service, vibe & braids were on point. My four year old daughter has a very tender head and her braids turned out amazing! I was so thankful that the ladies spent their time being gentle with her and making sure she was okay during the entire process. & I absolutely love the way my hair turned out! I had a big event to go to and my hair was picture perfect I love this place and will definitely be back (:

Tried to call about an appointment to get my daughters hair done and received the worst attitudes I've ever seen. Barely answered my questions without a snarky remark and they changed their prices on me twice. Get it together! The vibes wasn't it

(1/1) Tell me, do you like to be overcharged? What about attitude/ disrespect thrown to your face? No? What about a threat of cops being called because you didn't like the service provided? This review will be in multiple parts. Will post 2/3 in pictures. I came to this shop initially for some braiding hair since I was getting my hair done that night by another braider. I had the luxury to be helped out by Astou herself. I had a specific color in mind. I showed her the exact color I wanted, and she gave me packs that looked NOTHING like the color. It was my first time trying to get hair so I thought I could use a "experts" help. She was very admit if I mixed those two colors I'd get what I'm looking for. I explained my excitement to get my hair done by this braider. She goes on to ask questions of "What's her pricing?" "Can I see her work?" As I show her, she looks displeased. "I'm not going to comment anything" she says, "but if you ever want to get your hair by a real PROFESSIONAL, I can do it for $320." I thanked for her time and went about my day. I got to work thinking of the drive I was going to sacrifice to make it to this other braider, the gas/ price of hair just didn't seem worth it at this point. I called Astou back to see if I can return the hair, "We don't do refunds but I'll tell you what, we can have you scheduled for 9am tomorrow and I'll charge you $220 just so you can try us out. I'll even have 3 braiders working on you so you can make it to work on time." How sweet right? Well of course I took that generous offer, how could I not? I get there at 9am sharp only to see the store still closed. Once opened I sit in the chair, Astous sister comes to start our process. She did a test braid with the colors Astou helped me picked. I tell her "oh no, that's not the color I was hoping for." She then goes to a bin to pull out hair that was a lot closer. "I like these colors a lot better, would you be able to blend them more so it doesn't look like two different colors?" "I don't know what you mean" she says with a tone. "Would you mind if I try to show you?" I then go to grab a piece of each hair to blend in my non braider abilities. "Not so easy is it?" Obviously annoyed, "all you did was tangle the hair." I sat back feeling uncomfortable. "No I know it's not easy, I was just trying to get the color." She then asked me what length I wanted, "mid back" believing I was saying lower back/ butt length. She told me it would be extra so I asked to speak with Astou. She says it would be extra as well while observing the test braid. "You know your hair is going to show on top and this color is different than what we picked." "I know, those colors didn't work out, I like this color but I'd want it more blended." "Okay but you can still see the hair on top." I immediately felt nervous that the style I picked wasn't going to look good. "You've already taken so much time, she hasn't even touched your hair, maybe we shouldn't do it" she comments. I agree and tell her that normally I never speak up, but I was feeling uncomfortable. "Aw no I don't want you to feel that way, do you have another style in mind?" I go on to show the same pic that was suppose to be hair color inspo as the style as well. I had done that style before so I showed her what I looked like,except my picture was with my hair in a up do. "Yes we can do that." She begins to do a test braid to show me how it would look. I notice it's not the color I wanted but it was still cute, so I say "yes I like that!" She then goes to start braiding half of each braid to get them all started. I ask to look in the hand held mirror to see what it looks like. "Looks good" I say about the color since I couldn't see one full braid. She then takes
