Wahing Trading is unfortunately closing which is such a bummer. Wahing has been open since 1996 and is closing down in 2021. The owner of Wahing decided it was time to retire and the property owner wanted to sell the building Wahing was in. I will miss you Wahing!

Love the floor to ceiling goods. I found paper parasols and lovely fans for a wedding. I showed the worker ladies their Yelp listing and reviews, which they had no clue about! Thanks Yelp for helping me find this treat.

The biggest example of a Chinese 99-cent/variety store that there is in Oakland's Chinatown. "Household goods" doesn't even begin to encompass all that they have here, as the variety is simply staggering. Best of all, everything's super cheap. While the quality of, say, certain tools, cleaning brushes, or gadgets might not be up to snuff, if you absolutely need something for non-heavy-duty household purposes right away, and can't be bothered to go all the way to Target or a real hardware store where you'd likely pay much more for it, then Wahing is the way to go. Cheap stuff. Lots of it. That's Wahing in a nutshell.

I came by the other day to look for a red envelope for a friend's wedding. Because most Asian markets don't carry red envelopes when it's not Chinese new year (at least in my town), I made the trek to Oakland Chinatown. This shop had what I needed. And one of the employees was nice enough to let me know which ones were for weddings. There are a ton of knick-knack here, and I took a few minutes to look around. The prices seemed very reasonable for all the dishware and appliances, so I'll need to come back to look for gifts.

If you are in Chinatown and need to grab a brillo pad, cutlery, or random household good, Wahing Trading Co. has your back. I was in the area killing time and found this on Yelp as a suggested place to stop by. I didn't really need anything but decided to see what was in the store. Lots of household goods- pans, knives, old school plastic clocks, etc. I'm sure the locals appreciate this one stop shop for their home needs.

The owner is a true business man. I buy from here wholesale and sell retail all the time for many years and from day one he has been great. So much selections and at a good reasonable price. Its a treasure trove and though the place is small and everything is cramped, they are guaranteed to have almost anything you want or need. Check them out if you are ever in the area :)

This place reminds me of a combination of Ariel's treasure trove in The Little Mermaid and Tetris. It is literally stacked floor to wall with anything and everything. At first glance, it's a little over stimulating. There's so much stuff! Where to start?! But there's a method to the madness. Once you take it all in, you'll find a lot of useful things. All the merchandise is arranged by categories so you'll find all the kitchen/cookware in one section, dishes right next to it, kitchen electronics such as rice cookers (tons of sizes and price ranges to choose from)... Other things I saw: -children's toys -stationary: pens, notebooks, school supplies, Disney stickers -household goods -home decor -miniature bamboo stalk plants...food for said plant...pretty little pot for your new plant -hair accessories -miscellaneous fashion items -tools: hammers, screwdriver sets, wrenches, etc -sparklers for $1 -those poppers you throw on the ground that make a snapping sound also for $1 -kitchen sponges in neat designs -nifty bath accessories like the Salux Japanese nylon towels that cost more on amazon. I highly recommend these! -Energizer batteries -cigarettes: American and Chinese brands -sports equipment: badminton racquets, tennis balls, basketball ...this could go on for awhile. Basically, if you can name it, they've probably got it here! I especially liked the Japanese style dish ware and fancy chopsticks. Everything is affordable and there's a wide variety to suit your individual taste. Everything I've bought has held up to daily use as well so there's definitely quality items here. An awesome one stop shop with tons of stuff you need and plenty more fun stuff I don't need but want to have. Best of all, I don't feel guilty getting any of it because it's so affordable. Since it's in Chinatown, cash only! To sum it up, this "Tetris treasure trove" is part dollar store, part mini mart, and 100% awesome. It's also a mom and pop operation so that's awesome too. It feels good to support a local business. Go check it out and see what you find!

Wow this store is in a convenient location and has everything I needed in one location. It's a really broad and general store that has just about everything I needed from candy, to all household essential, novelties, and miscellaneous items, it was like a mini Target. The prices were really fair and affordable. Things are easy to find here or you can just the friendly customer service. I would most definitely return here if I needed anything else.

Wahing has been here for decades. wahing has a little of everything: sundries/chinese cookware & utensils, hardware, worship items, 99 cents type items, faux stoneware (soap) art, ceramic figurines, toys, watches, mouse bait, kitchenware, stationary, etc. .... items over the ages. -back scratcher(2.50) -joss sticks (2.50) for worshipping ancestors -dishes, all kinds, -glass tumblers (3/2.50) useful or on the rock drinks. -lots of useful items not found in .99 cents stores notes: -many seemingly useless items here BUT -one or two useful items always pop up. -japanese style ceramics available also.

I found wonderland! This small space is literally lined from wall to wall and stacked from floor to ceiling with too many random and useful things! ~ All Made In China™! I've bought more than a few things here over the years: a sturdy little pot ($7), a little metal net thingie for my kitchen sink ($.50), hand towels ($1), veggie strainer ($3), sponges (4 for like $2.50) and today I got the coolest toilet wand in the loveliest shade of lavendar for $3.50! You may also find a variety of the following: bras, sake cups, happy buddhas, hardcore butcher knives, journals, sandles, fly slapper thingies, basketballs, lanterns, feng shui decorations, back scratchers/massagers and more!!! I love love love this place! You can get a crapload of useful things and gifts with just $10 cash here! This place makes me totally giddy! My sis and I had such a fun time laughing at some of the things while shopping here. I completely forgot about my claustrophobia.
