I was referred to Steven from my ocular oncologist Dr. Prithvi Mruthyunjaya at Stanford. Dr M is a giant in the field of ocular melanoma and he personally performed my enucleation on my left eye. He said Steve was the master. My doctor was correct! Things to know. It's a three day process. Day 1 is making the mold. Day 2 is painting and fitting. Day 3 is final fit and going home with your prosthetic. It will not look impressive while he's making it. It's the final step where he bakes on the cornea layer and polishes it up where it starts to look really good. But it's when it's in your socket is where it really comes to life. I was totally disoriented and shocked when Steve said I could now turn around and look in the mirror. I felt like I was looking at doppelganger or a vision from the past before my enucleation. It was that convincing. I even temporarily forgot which eye was the fake one. All my friends and family were blown away as well. It took a full day to adjust to the new look. This in part because I wear my socket loud and proud. I fully embraced my one eyed self immediately after surgery. I even have one eye when I dream. So a prosthetic for me was not solving an emotional need, because I'm totally cool going around with a bare socket. So my prosthetic is more like a piece of jewelry. Something I wear for fun. I swap out my prosthetic and conformer twice a day because I surf every day in the morning. Steve said don't surf with your eye or you'll lose it in the ocean. Other things you should know. Steve is a jokester. He's routine is well honed. So you'll get all the classics he's perfected over the years. However, he can also take it, so we had great fun ribbing each other. But, if you are uncomfortable with a casual and humourous atmosphere, just tell him. He jokes around to help people relax . If you need a more serious atmosphere just tell him. If you don't like the TV on, just tell him. Because the TV is also there to help relax and distract you. If you like the TV but not the program, just ask him to change it. He doesn't care because he's not watching the program. You can watch my youtube video about my whole experience.

Dr. Steve should have gotten 5 stars and he would have had he and Rene not been so disrespectful today, yesterday, and Saturday. I had a 10:30 am appt. I am there 15 mins. early. A family from Sacramento show up with an 11am appt. Needless to say that family was seen before me. They were in and out before their actual appt. time. Rene told me all she was doing was putting them in a room, but somehow the Doctor did not get that memo. Last Saturday, In the middle of taking care of me, Dr. Steve got up and went to another patient. I told him that I needed to feed the meter but 27 minutes later he lets me but only after Rene told me that I should have parked in the garage. I have been a patient for more than 25 years and until today, I had no plans to leave. My time is as valuable as his is.

I want to affirm how horrible he is as an ocularist. His office setting is really displeasing with a TV always playing and his commentary about things is just unnecessary and uncomfortable. All of the glass eyes he has made me have never fit well and have always caused me pain. I would never recommend him to anyone. His level of care is unsatisfactory.

It's not that the need for an Ocularist is a common occurrence by& my guess is that more than half of the public doesn't even really know the definition of ,an Ocularist? ( I bet your googling right now!) Oakland, CA. Dr Steve Young is absolutely amazing Dr. I was a little nervous getting my prosthetic eye. First visit he made me feel right at home. He is incredibly efficient. My eye was finished in 3 visits and he had me laughing the whole time.when it was finished I couldn’t tell which eye was replaced. Absolutely flawless. I recommend Steve to anyone needing an eye.

First, I all told you guys is very true sad story. He made the eye ? not good, not look the same real eye. He made my one eye look out. Every time I take a picture. I can tell it is totally different but he keep saying it the same. He is lying. I have no choice, I have to suffer to wear his eye almost 3 years. I was disappointed and depress, and I want to come to LA to find the good ocularist as what I dream but that time I have no money. Second, He did not accept medical insurance, so I have to pay cash 3000$, but the eye was Not good like what I expected . I was so sad ?. I just wish to have a beautiful eye. But he never did his good job. Last, April 2021 after I save some money I decided to come to LA after I have been research the best ocularist. And finally, I found it is Advanced artificial eye. Located at 18455 Burbank blvd #202 Tarzana Ca 91356. John is very generous and hight new standards. He made me smile. I promise you dear, you won’t disappointed. He will change your life and smile. I can not help you guys anything . But I wish I can share the best place for you. Steven is old school, and is not going to compare John . Plz go the the website of Advanced artificial eyes, and look more information. Good bye ? forever Steven young I was so regret to pay u 3000$ for Dirty eye. Also, the ocularists at Bay Area are suck . I went many places. But the last , I found the best place. Thanks ? God for show the good place. And it change my life.. amen ?..

Dr. Steven Young is absolutely the best. He's very friendly and walks you thru every step of the process of receiving your New Eye. I am blown away by How I look now! I recommend him to all who chose this option. He really made my new eye look as if it were real. Over and over again Much Thanks!!
