We’ve taken two dogs here over the years, some with odd diagnoses, and all have been treated accurately. We can even get refills of some medications from reception without bringing the dog in (again) and waiting, which saves the price of a visit (which is a reasonable price for a visit). Dr. Tan is an old school practitioner and he will see any person and animal that walks through the door - first come, first served, hours between 10am-2pm. Definitely recommend Dr. Tan’s practice and dread the day he decides to retire!

Close this place!!! Horrible !! Do not bring your dogs here!! The assist “Lorena” was pretending she was the DR when she was NOT! She did a C-section on my dog and the wound opened!!! She should be arrested for saying she was a Dr!!!!!! This was in 2022!

Some treatments are fairly priced, while others are overpriced. I was charged $250 for one shot of antibiotics, and another time I paid $250 for neutering (which is not bad). However, the customer service is really poor. They don't take the time to explain things. For example, when I brought my cat in for neutering, they just took him and told me to come back in about 5 hours without explaining the process or aftercare. When I picked up my cat, he looked nearly dead and had peed all over himself in the basket (which was very upsetting).
The cleanliness of this place is dangerously disgusting. There is pee and poop everywhere.

This practice is an abomination. Extremely unorganized, super rude / unprofessional, and unhygienic. This place reeks on the inside and outside. When I walked in, there were unwashed blood stains everywhere. Waited 3 hours past my original appointment and did not see the vet until I flagged someone down about my appointment. The vet himself was not very competent and hastily misdiagnosed my dog. He suggested that I should not "waste" more resources on an old dog and let him ride off into the sunset and said he would not be able to perform any surgery because of the risk of litigation. The Vet also openly admitted he was out of date on the modern academia and did not know how to operate a computer. If you truly care about your animal, DO NOT take them here. It might be cheaper, but you are paying a hefty price in the long run.

While I was asking questions to the person who answered, she said that's it for the cost and hung up on me.

My friend recommended this Vet . My dog was ill and needed to seek care. My experience was great and my dog got better. I would also like to mention how clean and fresh smelling this place is.

Neighborhood vet clinic; somewhat accessible. Not always clean. And understaffed. Also without a vet tech. Forgot to label meds for my two cats. Also, one had what eventually turned out to be a gut tumor. This was only late discovered so she needed to be put down very suddenly, somewhere else. The cat had earlier symptoms which were mentioned in the earlier visits to the St Louis clinic. During the cat's subsequent, sudden decline, it was pointed out to me by other vets that those earlier symptoms should have warranted an immediate ultrasound. At the time of the earlier exams at St Louis, no suggestion was made by them about an ultrasound, or even a steroid offered, after antibiotics and probiotics in earlier exam had not corrected the problem. They're also very slow in getting lab results and communicating them to the client Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be any price transparency, and it's hard to coordinate payment at times. And they're not open on the weekends. Lastly, the reception is not always friendly. Maybe in its heyday this place was the decent, go-to clinic for fur babies, and the vet is clearly a smart guy, yet the current negligent organization and terrible follow-up create nightmares for both the pets AND humans. Try another place. If you're pressed for resources, or simply need information, contact the veterinary teaching colleges, televets, Humane Society, etc.

My neighbor referred me to this vet because he knew my finances were very tight and limited. It's a drop-in clinic and the wait was about 30 to 40 minutes. I really appreciated how the vet seemed to genuinely enjoy his job and had a fondness for animals. He prescribed my Pomeranian papillon a few different meds including a pain killer & antibiotic. He surmised that she accidentally inhaled a fox tail because of her very specific set of symptoms (intense type of sneezing was one) he said they could try to use meds to ease her discomfort while her body worked it out or, she'd have to have it surgically removed & her being 14 yrs old w other health issues, he explained that going that route would have to be the absolute last resort. I was elated when about a week later, her symptoms finally ceased. Before taking her here I called about 5 other vets who charged astronomical rates w no options for payment plans & basically told me we were SOL, so I'm very grateful that vets like him who aren't all about gouging every animal that comes through their doors, exists! I have since recommended him to 2 other friends who have also had good experiences with him.

I couldn't be more grateful for the whole team, especially Dr. Tan and Mrs. Tan. We go to them for almost anything and everything (from allergy problems to hematomas, to C-section) and have not had one botched job or casualty. All 6 of our frenchies were well taken care of in this clinic. But just FYI, the wait could be long. Manage your expectations as this is a low-cost clinic and so a lot of people go to them. Be there to sign up at 8AM if you wanna be first in line when they open at 10.

I recently visited St Louis Veterinary Clinic and was thoroughly impressed by the vet's expertise and fairness in pricing. He was knowledgeable, caring, and notably transparent, focusing solely on necessary treatments without recommending any unnecessary extras. I left feeling reassured about my pet's health and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended for those seeking trustworthy veterinary care and not money hungry vets.

I came here to get Boba's my Bully XL ears cropped, this was my first time here so I was definitely a lil iffy. I met with Doctor Tan's wife I believe and she gave me recommendations on what style works best for these dogs depending on how the ears develop prior to the surgery. She also sent me home with meds and stuff to dress up the ears with simple instructions for recovery. This place gets very busy and I was amazed how fast they got me in and out, driving from the South Bay it's an easy hour to get to. Boba's ears came out great, very happy with the work. I see a lot bad reviews here regarding this particular procedure with dogs that have infected ear and such. If you get lazy and don't following the instructions then guess what.... Your dog's ears probably gonna get infected, so make sure you clean them properly till the stitches come out.

They did a great job on kano's ears, this is him at 6 months old. Definitely recommend them for all ear cropping! Was my first time doing ear cropping and everything went very smooth from check ups to them healing. The picture prior to the ear cropping is Kano at 3 months and the two after is him at 6 months

Do not bring your rabbits here.
I brought my rabbits here a several months ago because I wanted a vet for them. St. Louis Veterinary Clinic is on the cheaper side with poor quality care from the vets. The vet was an elderly man and he was quite rough with my rabbits. Did not support their back, it almost seemed like he would injure them himself. It really scared me into finding the perfect vet after one of my buns was injured because I could not trust anyone after that.
Now that I've been to several different vets -2 ERs and a current primary vet. I can definitely say that despite the low cost, it's best to not come here for rabbits if you care about them. Educated and empathic vet will take great care of your pets. They will do good full exams, and not just feel their body and charge for that. A good vet understands financial difficulties and will give you a proper, written or email estimate. I think i prefer that over just a verbal estimate.
Again, I would not recommend St. Louis Veterinary Clinic.
