I've worked with Sol for recovery on two separate occasions. My recent injury was a severed foot tendon and the other was a rotator cuff injury. On both occasions, I've received excellent care. The team is personable, thoughtful, and results-driven. I highly recommend SOL!

ACL graft rehab - Physical therapist had his hand on my foot during measurement of flexion at beginning of session in week 3. Massaged for 5 mins. Then had hand on foot pushing it closer smashing my manuscus repair and causing pain for 3 days that I didn’t have before. He wanted to write progress down.. selfish and lazy. He’s not supposed to have his hand on my foot during the measurement. They didn’t send an updated protocol following that session. PT passed me mid session to assistant serving another client at same time for barely supervised exercises. ACL graft rehab is so straight forward surgeons don’t even pay attention. They are so bad here they may manage to mess it up. Be careful. Other points… no electric stimulus provided. No ability to provide consistent schedule, they schedule after every session. This place has transferred hands apparently and been going down hill ever since. Filter reviews by date and you’ll see. They are benefiting from the previous performance as a company.

3 months ago the care and attention were terrific. Now, I missed a call from them offering 1 appointment that I could not make as they did not contact me first about my availability. I tried to call to say I could not make it, no answer. After that I tried to call several times, leaving 2 more messages. Then I emailed my PT asking about an appointment and she said she would "ask the front desk to get back to me." That was over a week ago so I am on my third week waiting for a call and appointment; I am no longer interested in getting care from an office that knows I underwent 2 painful surgeries in 4 months.

This was a five star review that I finally got around to editing down to a one star. Main reason, they are physical therapists but they go out of their way to avoid doing manual therapy. I think manual therapy and physical therapy are synonymous terms, figure it out, it's only your profession...

They billed me 6-months later suggesting the last copay I made was $10 instead of $30 as I had paid for on four prior visits. Odd and tasteless. The trainers are adequate. Not spectacular. Most of my physical therapy was formulaic and of little use. I later learned of a quick exercise that in 2 minutes was 50 times more effective than what I was doing for more than half an hour at the facility. Plus, I repeatedly had to ask questions because the trainer verbal communication is lackluster at best. The trainers particularly here could use a class in communication, and charm. This is really a service industry so they should consider customer service training for their trainers, no pun intended. These therapists unfortunately have a hot/cold primadona attitude which is multi-personality delusional, in my opinion. And not scheduling a follow up appointment the pressure was on from the therapists as if I was leaving a cult. Conversely, receptionist were good and kept things moving forward with a positive beat.

SOL PT provides fantastic physical therapy for post orthopedic shoulder surgery. They are professional and encouraging and all seem to love what they do. My PT Devin, was excellent at listening to my concerns or setbacks, and tailoring a plan specifically to my needs. He was great at answering questions and being an ICU nurse, I asked a myriad of them. The office staff made it a breeze to schedule appointments at the beginning and also seem to like their jobs. An added bonus is designated parking next to the building.I have had physical therapy elsewhere and would return to SOL PT in the future is I require PT.Sue

[UPDATE: Since I posted the negative review below, SOL has been in touch with me and we've largely resolved things. I'm changing this rating from 1 star to 3 stars. The stars and this review are about the scheduling hassles, not the quality of the PT services provided. The scheduling problems I detailed below were quite frustrating. But Dan contacted me, we exchanged several emails and had a phone call, and he addressed the issues. He acknowledged they *have* been having problems with their phone scheduling system, and apologized. They are working on fixes. Meanwhile, he helped me get through so that today, finally, I was able to reach a scheduler and make appointments. Dan and the two people I spoke to about scheduling were very courteous and helpful. I hope they are able to improve their scheduling work flow so others don't go through this (they acknowledged I wasn't the only one), but since I've had good PT here before I'm glad I'll have the chance again.]ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've had good PT here before. This time, with a referral from my doc, I couldn't even reach them to make an appointment.I called Monday midday: got voice mail saying "we're helping someone else right now, we'll call you back soon". Three hours later, no return call, I called again. Got voice mail again, left a second message. I didn't get a call back until the next day (Tuesday), while I was in a meeting and couldn't answer. I called back later, sent to voice mail again, left another message. Got no return call. Wednesday I wrote their email address explaining the situation (and that in my job I'm in meetings virtually nonstop so almost never am able to answer a phone call that isn't scheduled). Today is Friday, and I have not received a response. I saw that they did call once on Thursday, but that time they didn't even leave me a voicemail. Apparently they don't need clients.

SOL is awesome to work with--very professional, knowledgeable and insightful. They have provided both post-surgical and non-surgical rehab/physical therapy for me for a number of injuries going back several years. They have multiple locations that are well-equiped and very pleasant facilities. If you need PT, look no further; SOL is simply the best.

Sol on Piedmont Ave, Oakland, was recommended by my Worker Compensation. Sol is the best physical therapy place that I had in all nursing years. The staff starts on time, truly works as a team for your best interest, and dedicated to getting my strength back after a rotator cuff tear. Yung-En and Kat's attention to my pain level with proper treatment demonstrates their strive for excellence.

I received a 2 sided sheet of PT recommendations from my orthopedist. Of the 10 different places I called, SOL was the only one to call me back within the hour. Only one other place called back and that was days later. This was a good omen. I have gone from crutches, to stumbling in pain, to slowly building back lost muscle tone from a torn meniscus and lack of movement. Although I have had the same fabulous therapist for most of my sessions, I have found that when others have had to step in, I have received the same professional help. The facility is easily accessible, spacious and humming with good help and activity. Parking is available 99% of the time I have gone and there is ample parking on the street.I will be forever grateful to Devin Erlichman for his expertise and patience, Lucas and Cory for filling in when needed and the women who run the front desk. Everyone is a ten star.

Over the past four years, I had three separate injuries and went to SOL Physical Therapy each time to bring me back to health. I was fortunate to have had the same physical therapist who was incredibly knowledgeable about my injuries and professional. He listened carefully during the evals, provided the utmost care at each appointment, and created a treatment program that I still refer to today. The at-home workouts were conveniently available through an app, which made it easy to complete the workouts on a daily basis. I'm forever grateful to my PT and SOL PT. Thank you, thank you!

I've had a great experience with all of their PTs, however, I'm giving them a 2 star rating because they contract their billing to a 3rd party who is terrible, unresponsive, and unhelpful. I've been waiting for months on refunds for several overcharged co-pays. There's been no resolution despite several phone calls to the billing office, multiple emails, and also asking the front desk to reach out to them for me did nothing.

This is the review I should have been written many years ago. Back when SOL was on College Ave.I came in with a with a prescription for PT for an agitated shoulder. I was assigned Becky as my PT. She did manual therapy, lots of measurements, and prescribed exercises to be done in the gym. I came every day the gym was open. To my delight, a friend of mine, who was a known news journalist, was also a patient at SOL. We did our workouts together every day in the gym.During my second prescription of physical therapy, the owner's girlfriend started laughing at me when I arrived to go to the gym. I never understood her rudeness. At the second prescription's review, my shoulder pain had not gotten better. Becky told me I was a "drug seeker" and that it was "all [my] fault [I wasn't] getting better because [I'm] not doing [my] exercises!" I was taking anti-inflammatories and nothing else. My daily visits to the gym were documented in my chart. I just wanted my nagging shoulder pain to get better. The entire experience was unprofessional and fruitless. In addition to a waste of time, money, and three month delay in receiving the care I needed. I did admire the PT Nina, from what I saw in the gym. After that debacle, the physician caring for me sent me to John King PT. At the initial appointment, he had me walk up and down a hallway with and without shoes on. King told me I had had three major ankle sprains in my right ankle, two in my left. I had a pelvic injury from my pregnancy that hadn't healed. My shoulder pain wasn't my shoulder, it was my neck. And asked, "Were you in a bad car accident fifteen or twenty years ago?" I had been in a multi-car pile-up on I5 while in college. It was a relief to be in competent hands. My diagnosis turned out to be a herniated disc at C5/6.John King has taken excellent care of me over the years with various injuries and ailments. (This is not a promotion for King. It's nearly impossible to be a new patient with him.)

I changed to SOL after feeling like another PT office was an assembly line, with many people doing similar exercises in the same room and five minutes at the end with the actual PT. At SOL, each PT has their own room, and that's where the visit starts - with addressing the pain. They worked on me for ten to 30 minutes, depending on what was needed. Then, like other PT's, they checked for my progress with at-home exercises, add or subtract from those exercises and send me on my way. I had twice-weekly visits. Mostly worked with David and Cory, both of whom seemed knowledgable and kind. David provided ART or MAT to get my inactive muscles to start firing again. Will go back as needed.
