Good for donating

The store sells mostly used clothes these days. To donate your household items, there is a loading area around the back of the building.

My story is from 2017, but I'll give it a go.
When I was off work one Saturday afternoon, I popped in there to browse their electronics section. I wasn't in the store 5 minutes before some whosit wearing a reflective vest yells at me to leave the store.
I demanded to know what their issue was and he rudely replied "She [cashier lady] doesn't want you in here!" So I called their CEO or Owner (main operator of that specific thrift store/ rehab program) to lodge a formal complaint. They NEVER returned my call.
Meanwhile, when I first walked in, a man (can't really determine if he was homeless or not) was literally lounging on a couch that was for sale!
BOYCOTT, there are other reasonable thrift stores in the Bay Area, I never went back after that.

I LOVE this Salvation Army, and have been many times. I always find great items here. Unfortunately, today I saw a few humongous cockroaches inside the store. I mean two-three inchers! I understand thrift stores can only be kept so clean, but this seems like a building issue...Usually if there are multiple roaches visible, there are a lot more somewhere. Hopefully management can get this under control.

Things are expensive, unless you go during the 50% sale at the end of each month and other sales they have on some items. They get all the clothes for free! Even I have donated many times. The only thing worth it is when you find vintage clothes made of good materials or branded clothes (but this is not the majority). Makes no sense to charge $5 for a cheap blouse when I can get the same online and new!

Not only did they get rid of their dressing rooms, they have reduced customer mirror down to one. So ridiculous.

Donation Center - What a disappointment. I gave a five star review a year or two ago. Yesterday I had 5 suitcases in great condition. One was new. I drove all the way to Oakland to donate them. The guy there refused them because they were "used". The inside was pristine and the outside of the new one was pristine. There was some dust on the other ones but no rips, tears, etc. All in very good condition outside I used to love to support Salvation Army because they do so much good and have a much lower overhead than Goodwill. Sadly for Salvation Army, my donations will go to Goodwill. I got another donation load from home including a huge chest full of brand new stuffed animals...and they went to Goodwill. I don't have the time or energy to drive to a donation place and have my stuff rejected.

We were in the area and decided to stop by. It's not in the best of neighborhoods so I judged and thought it would not be good. First I walked in and everything is sorted by color to be honest I loved that. It was easy to find what you wanted. The closest were name brand and a lot of cute finds. There was also a lot of stuff with new tags. The prices were super reasonable. Definitely a hidden gem.

I love this Salvation Army! right by the tube to Alameda, parking is hard sometimes but this place has amazing pieces! Great selection of coats and jeans. I got a Stanley cup dupe for $3 which was pretty cool. They have good finds in the houseware sometimes. Haven't gotten any furniture from here, it's hit or miss. Sometimes they have sale days 50% off certain items . They have a pretty efficient donation area as well in the back. Quick and easy drop off for when I wanna get rid of things. I will be back!

The workers here are the rudest I’ve encountered. Absolutely horrible.
