We are very thankful for Karen and Piedmont Pet! We have entrusted our animals to Karen for several years and have only ever had great experiences. Piedmont Pet is an excellent in-home boarding and daycare provider for small dogs. Nervous pet owners like me will appreciate the genuine care, attention to detail, and communication Karen brings to every pet care interaction. Our little 17-lb terrier mix has a few health issues and is on a special diet and meds, and needs to be in an environment where he will be handled gently. We never, ever worry with Karen! She was extremely thorough when we first started working with her, making time to ask lots of good questions and answer all of ours. She is a confident and very experienced animal lover who organizes and handles small-dog pack walks like the pro she is. We get daily photos of his adventures when our dog is with Piedmont Pet which we really, really appreciate. Karen takes care of him like one of her own (little sweaters in the winter, no-pull harnesses, comfy beds and blankets, etc.), and we can tell he feels secure and comfortable with her and his "vacation pack". His time there is a great mix of snuggles and downtime and walks and enrichment time. Karen also provides drop-in visits for our cat when we're away which we really appreciate. Our cat doesn't like anyone and she actually plays with Karen and allows pets (we get pics and videos of this too)! We feel secure knowing our sweet little dog buddy is in great hands and our less-sweet but still loved cat buddy is getting wet food and playtime when we can't be there. Strongly recommend Piedmont Pet, especially to anyone with small dogs in the East Bay in search of secure, loving home boarding or daycare!

Karen at Piedmont Pet is the best! My dog is always so happy to spend time with Karen and her pups. She gets to hang out with her buddies all day and enjoy a nice walk in the hills or by the Bay. The dogs in Karen's care get lots of love and cuddles but they also listen to her. She has just the right touch and is quite knowledgeable about the care, socialization and language of dogs. I also appreciate her flexibility, as I work per diem and do not have a set schedule. Karen has been a lifesaver for us and I was very lucky to find her.

Karen is great! She offers in home boarding and group walks which really help with socialization and exercise. Tbh, my little dog is great with big dogs, but it's nice to see her with other little dogs. Karen pays attention to detail, makes sure the dogs are safe and happy, and provides a service that helps socialize your dog- you can obviously walk your own dog- but sometimes dogs need help with socializing and Karen is great!

I travel for work and needed to find a reliable place to take my dog, Ollie. As a doggie mom, it is always hard to leave my little guy in the care of others, however, Karen and Matt treat him as one of their own. Ollie comes home from his "retreats" well loved and in need of his own vacation. Karen and Matt care for smaller dogs (under 40 lbs) in their home where the dogs are not crated and are taken on daily hikes. Matt sends pictures every day (one is attached) which always make me smile. My husband even joked that he wished our dog looked like he missed us even a little, but he is always happy. Ollie, while happy to see us when we pick him up - is equally happy to come to their house. I feel so much better knowing I have a place to take him where he will be cared for just as if were with me. Karen even gave Ollie a bath before we picked him up after an especially rainy week with them. I am grateful for Karen and Matt. They are well worth the money.

Karen and Matt do a remarkable job. It's hard to come up with something others haven't said here. Jessica D has typed out a very thorough list of positives. You can entrust your dog to them without a worry. They will send you pictures that will make you smile.

Karen and Matthew take wonderful care of our two dogs which is proven by the fact that they seem very happy when they're dropped off and when they're picked up. She sends us pictures of our dogs during walks, which we always enjoy getting. Highly recommended, wouldn't trust our babies to anyone else!

Karen and Matt are so great. Matt takes my dog Frisca out a couple times a week for "pack walks" and she is loving it, getting all tired and calm and stuff. I used to use their services when I went out of town, back when we were all really in Piedmont (upper Oakland) Then they moved to Alameda and I moved downtown. Then I moved to Alameda and now, even though they are back in Oakland they have a lot of Alameda clients. Last month I went on two trips and they boarded my dog Frisca and brought here back over for cat visits (my kitty LOVES his doggy). Matt took pictures and texted them to me. There was a pack walking injury (right back outer claw got ripped off) and Karen took Frisca in to the vet and got it all squared away with very little drama. They are so good, I feel very comfy leaving the "kids" in their care.
