I do not recommend this company. They secretly charge extra fees. They want a $250 deposit. Even though there is no fault in the car, they charge you more than $50 in the name of maintenance fee by deducting it from your deposit. Be aware.

Worst experience ever, reserved and rented a car, our flight was delayed so they gave our car away with nothing left in stock. The person behind the counter was a useless bag of pee, Mark. Steer away from Payless ( pun intended)

It was the most useless place and person working behind the counter. Placed a rental online with my Apple Card and all was good to go. Went there to pick up the car with my husband and was told they didn’t accept the Apple Card. We asked her twice if I will be charged for the car because we decided not to rent one from Payless. The woman said no it will not be charged. Guess what I was charged for the week of $275 and now am disputing it with Goldman Sachs. Do not use this company!! The person was completely useless and never smiled once. She was not happy to be working there.

Rude customer service agents. Had to return car same day bad breaks grinding and smells. And most important the agen said daily and hpurly tates on the written contract is not valid

Payless car rental steals from customers. Charged for fuel. Stopped less than a mile away and fueled up. Forced to take upgrade when actual vehicle class rented was available. Agent unaware of where vehicles are located sent us outside looking for a B26 location in the rain. There are no B locations. This rental agency is a racket.

Arrived at the car rental agency believing my reservation held a car for me. It did NOT. Most of my experience with Payless was unacceptable.

Dishonest, fraudulent car rental agency. A dent in the rear driver side door was documented prior to rental and upon return they are trying to charge me for the repair. Payless is blaming Sedwedge service for the charge but say they cannot help even though they provided the proof of the prior damage. I am getting nowhere with this. Just the runaround.

The return process is horrible at Oakland Airport! Myself and another customer waited 10-15 mins for an attendant to come help us. Two attendants walked past us twice and said absolutely nothing! Finally another attendant said the car self checks itself in. This would’ve been good to know at time of pick up or have signs posted that says the car is a self check in. Also the car I had would not go in to park and I had to turn the engine on and off several times and shift the gears to get it to go in park

Payless has cars to rent. The car I rented worked well and was clean. I chose Payless because their rate was a little less than the other companies.
