I should take pictures because its a cool little gym tucked away with nice art on the side of it. The actual gym is a little old but has a worker man's feel to it. I wouldn't suggest going there to lift cause the machinery is a little old but the teachers are excellent and with have your hands right.

So! I've been coming here for 6+ months. The owners Enrique and Louis are very hands on. You'll get to work directly with the owner at least a couple times a week. I really like how there's no "set" time. People are training from 5-9, so you come in at whatever time and train for 30 min, an hour, or even two, that's up to you. This lax way of training really helps me since I work in the city and have to commute all the way back here, but sometimes I stay late at the office. I know that I can drop in and get a good workout on my schedule. Super affordable too compared to other boxing gyms I've been to! Worth it.

I found out about Orgullo Boxing while surfing Craigslist and saw a posting offering a free boxing lesson and hot dogs afterwards. Well, who could resist that offer! When I showed up, I was greeted by Luis and Enrique. Neither of them looked askance to see a short, middle-aged Asian woman show up for a boxing lesson. Enrique was the coach and he was very patient, thorough and respectful with a beginner and gave me a great workout in 2 hours. I left feeling that I had a good grounding in the basics. I assume the gym offers these free lessons from time to time and I strongly recommend you check them out. A lot of women are at a disadvantage because they've never been involved in a physical fight. This is a good way to be prepared should you ever get involved in a fight. The only problem I had was in finding the gym because there were no street signs on 85th Avenue. It's between 81st Avenue and 98th Avenue so just make the first turn after you've passed 81st Avenue. There's a taco truck at the entrance but I don't know if it's there permanently.

Great gym for the serious athlete or someone just trying to get a workout in. Family oriented. Train with Enrique.

Orgullo in East Oakland was founded by former King's boxing gym trainers & true boxing aficionados. Enrique and his cousin decided to open up this joint venture of theirs after King's was just ridiculously packed night after night, complete with long queue times for a bag. They're located in the cutties, in the numbered streets off of Hegenberger/73rd in East Oakland. They did a great job building out the new gym in the warehouse they moved to. Inside it is decorated with an array of multi-national flags, brand new bags, cardio equipment, and weights. It's a great no-BS way to work out. In the center is a large boxing ring, which is never under utilized - there is always young athletes sparring and developing their talent here. They should get a neon sign that says "WE SPAR ALL DAY". Great job, guys!

I've been boxing for about 2 years now and recently followed my trainer from Kings to Orgullo Boxing Gym. Orgullo opened up last year and has been such a great experience so far. What I like most about Orgullo is the environment. The trainers and gym staff are super friendly and everyone treats you with respect. it is definitely a welcoming environment for people at all levels. There are a lot of amateur fighters training but there are also just as many people that go in to learn how to box and are in for a good workout. I train with GIlbert who will definitely get you in shape....and is known for his sense of humor! GIlbert definitely makes going to the gym fun and will work you according to your skill set. He works his fighters hard for fights, but if you are just into losing a few pounds, he is awesome fitting in conditioning into the workout. From what I have heard, the other trainers are great too. Like I said, everyone is super friendly and it doesn't feel like a "gym" when you're in there. Awesome gym, amazing people, affordable monthly memberships! Definitely worth every penny :)
